Chapter 20: Palutena's Temple + DLC: Preparations for the Ritual
Music playing: Solo Menu (Viridi)
Pit was getting ready for the mission. He began teaching himself how to use the Lightning Chariot with the help of Phosphora, since she was Hercules' little sister, of course. The two of them continued their training, and Pit continued his battle training with Cragalanche in order to get stronger, and they all enjoyed a nice breakfast before heading out. "Thanks for keeping me company, Viridi," said Pit. "If you didn't help me from the very beginning, I would've been finished." "Don't mention it, Pit," Viridi replied while blushing. "C'mon, Mistress Viridi," Phosphora teased. "Are you still trying to hide your feelings for him?" This made Viridi blush even redder and even Pit was started to turn pink. "S-SHUT UP ABOUT THAT!" Viridi yelled. Phosphora giggled and the group continued to eat. After breakfast, Pit headed to the Arms Alter to select his weapon. He found a pair of Claws that seemed very unfamiliar to him. "I wonder what these Claws would do," he wondered aloud. "I better use them to see how strong they are. In fact, the design of them look almost similar to Viridi. Let's give them a shot." He equipped the Viridi Claws and rushed to the door.

Pit hopped into the Lightning Chariot to begin his mission. "Phos! Lux! Giddyup!" he ordered the unicorns and they complied by rushing out of the door and into Earth's orbit. "This Lightning Chariot will pierce the force field on Palutena's temple," said Viridi. "Keep your wits about you. You're moving so fast, you can't afford any slipup." "Understood," Pit affirmed as he took down lots of Underworld enemies that were in his way. "We'll reach a warp tunnel in about one minute," Viridi pointed out. "Gaaaaaaah! My skin feels like it's going to peel right off!" Pit yelled in pain. "What was that? You want to go faster?!" Viridi asked before rooting out, "You are the arrow of light that pierces the heart of darkness!" Pit felt happy that he had an ally that really knew how to give him confidence. This is why I think you're awesome Viridi, he thought. "This chariot's a real beast. These speeds don't even touch it. Wish I could say the same for you, Pit, but you're such a fragile little thing," said Viridi. "But even a pebble becomes a bullet if it moves fast enough. Just be extra careful not to get your butt ripped off in the process." "Don't you worry. I'll show you how it's done!" said Pit, determined to get Palutena back. "You sound awfully confident all of a sudden," said Viridi, impressed by his personality. "How hard can it be?" Pit asked. "I guess you'll find out soon enough!" Viridi replied. The Underworld Army still came out to try and take down Pit, but due to the Lightning Chariot's powers, they stood no chance against it. Pit then noticed a portal coming up. "We've reached the warp tunnel!" said Viridi. "Yeehaw!" Pit rooted out as he flew the Lightning Chariot right into the portal at fast speeds. "Whoa-oa-oa! This is cra-a-a-zy!" he gasped in shock. "Keep your face on. It's just a warp tunnel," said Viridi. "It'll take you straight to Palutena's temple." But while Pit was taking down more enemies, he decided to tell Viridi something. "I know this is a weird time to ask, but I have a question," he started. "What is it?" asked Viridi. "Back in the Chariot Master's tower, Hades and Devil Pit said I was the cause of all this chaos," said Pit. "Despite the fact that Devil Pit was the one that entered by body when I was a ring." "You were. You AND Palutena," said Viridi. "But I already know what you mean about Devil Pit and what he did." "What does that mean?" Pit questioned. "Remember the Lunar Sanctum Devil Pit blew up three years ago?" Viridi asked. It was already getting repaired when you arrived at my temple for the first time, she added in thought. The same thing goes for the Thunder Cloud Temple. "Oh, Arlon's moon fortress?" Pit replied. "You dummy! That place was a PRISON! And you made Devil Pit free the prisoner, the Chaos Kin!" Viridi exclaimed. "You DO know about the Chaos Kin, don't you?" "Uh..." Pit wondered. "It's the most— Oop! You're almost at Palutena's temple," Viridi suddenly pointed out. "Wait... What?" Pit asked. "Brace for impact!" Viridi warned. But just before Pit was about to exit the portal, something came out of the exit really fast. "You're not going to get to Palutena's temple that easily!" said a voice. Before Pit could react, he received a hard right hook on his left cheek. The shock of that impact caused Pit to fall off the Lightning Chariot. "AAAAHHHHHH!" he yelled. "PIT!" Viridi cried. Phos and Lux noticed that their rider fell off and they flew right to Pit and caught him just in time. Pit regained his balance and the unicorns stopped to see their rider's attacker; Devil Pit.

Devil Pit smiled sinisterly to see Pit again. "I'm surprised to see that you're still alive after all that talk," he said. "But as you can see, I cannot allow you to reach Lady Palutena." "What are you doing here, Devil Pit?!" Pit yelled. "Get out of my way!" "So sorry, but I cannot allow that," Devil Pit replied. "If you want to get to Palutena's temple, you have to get through the captain of her guard first." "Have you forgotten that I'M the captain here?!" Pit yelled. "YOU are the Ex-Captain!" "Not anymore and I can prove it," said Devil Pit. He then took out his Bullet Blade to begin his battle. "Let's see how well you can take me on in my Heavenly Chariot, Pit!" he continued. Pit took out his Viridi Claws to fight as well. Viridi noticed this and was shocked to see this. Is he wearing one of the weapons I created? she thought in shock. I never thought he would use something like those. "Prepare yourself, Devil Pit!" Pit boomed. "You will pay for hurting Lady Palutena and her army!" "We'll see about that, flightless angel!" said Devil Pit and the two of them charged at each other in their chariots to begin the fight.
Music stops and switches to: Eggman Boss Theme 1 (Ruby Delusions) - Sonic Mania - OST (Extended) from Blue Blur (A.K.A. The Chariot Battle Theme)
The battle started with the unicorns slamming each other's heads to cause a massive shockwave that pushed the chariots back away from each other. "Let me get up close and personal with you, Pit!" said Devil Pit. "I cannot wait to slice you up and devour your corpse whole!" "Not today, Devil Pit!" Pit yelled back. "Be careful with Devil Pit's Heavenly Chariot, Pit!" Viridi warned. "It has the same speed as the Lightning Chariot, so you might want to be on your toes!" "Got it!" Pit affirmed. The angel and Devil both fired countless shooting attacks at each other to deal damage. But most of them were avoided. "Trying to play dirty, eh?" said Devil Pit. "Well, how about I play even dirtier!" He then charged his Heavenly Chariot to the side of the Lightning Chariot and took out his weapon. "Look out, Pit!" Viridi warned. Pit noticed this and took out his weapons to block the attacks. The two of them then slash and repel each other's melee attacks. Pit then saw an opening chance and attacked Devil Pit with a melee combo to knock him out of the Chariot, but Devil Pit caught himself and got back up and zoomed away. "Get back here!" Pit yelled as he charged after him. Devil Pit then fired rapid shots from his Bullet Blade but Pit barely avoided them. The chariots' unicorns slammed at each other and pushed themselves back. "Try getting close to Devil Pit to gain the upper hand!" Viridi explained. "Once you do so, attack like crazy!" "I'm on it!" Pit affirmed and charged to the Heavenly Chariot's side. "So that's how you wanna play, huh?" said Devil Pit. "Then let's play!" The both took out their weapons and proceeded to slash and repel each other's melee attacks. Then Pit saw an opening and used a melee combo to knock him down. Devil Pit grabbed a hold of the chariot, slowly got back up, and zipped away. "You only need to defeat him one more time!" Viridi pointed out. "Something about this is kind of familiar..." Pit wondered as he zoomed after Devil Pit. Devil Pit was suddenly right behind Pit in an ambush. "Pit! Get out of there!" Viridi warned. But Pit saw that too late and was pushed by the Heavenly Chariot. "Ahhh!" he yelled. "Having fun yet?!" said Devil Pit. He then took out his Bullet Blade and fired a charged shot. Pit fired his charged shot to stop it. He then regained balance and turned around to slam at Devil Pit. "Ouch!" he cried. "Now I am!" Pit yelled. He then took out his weapons and attacked Devil Pit with a melee combo. This made Devil Pit fall out of the Heavenly Chariot and his unicorns caught him and retreated. "This isn't over!" Devil Pit yelled in defeat. "You don't know what's coming to you!" He was then out of Pit's sight. "Now to break the force field!" the angel said as he zoomed out of the portal.
Music stops and switches to: Destroyed Skyworld
The Lightning Chariot flew out of the portal and pierced right through the barrier, shattering and disintegrating it completely. "Ha HA! Success!" Viridi cherred. "You still alive there, Pit?" "And kicking!" Pit responded as he got off the Lightning Chariot. "Now to save Lady Palutena! Ouf!" He then roughly landed on his feet to complete his mission. He suddenly saw Phosphora for a moment before she zipped away. "I'll hold on to the Lightning Chariot for you," she said. "Where'd you come from?" Pit asked after eating the food. "Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not here to help. Stopping Palutena's your job," Phosphora replied. "That's fine. I don't need your help anyway!" said Pit. "But I will also say good luck," Phosphora added. "You really need it to stop Devil Pit and save the Goddess of Light." "Thanks. I really needed that," Pit thanked as he proceeded onwards. He then heard the voice of the Goddess of Light. "Hello again, Pit," she said. "Lady Palutena!" Pit gasped after hearing her. "Now how did you make it through that barrier?" Palutena questioned. "It seems you're not the helpless, sniveling little thing you were before." "You have to stop attacking the humans!" Pit ordered. "No, Pit. Don't you see? This is my atonement for my greatest sin," Palutena replied. "I let the people grow arrogant and betray the heavenly order." "Oh, jeez. You're just figuring that out now?" Viridi groaned. "You're not yourself! The Lady Palutena I know would never say something like that!" Pit started. "Please. Angels cannot truly know gods," Palutena scoffed. "I followed your orders because I trusted you. I can't even count all the times I've risked my life for you!" Pit continued. "What a sap..." Viridi sighed. "I trusted you because I knew you were on the side of justice and...and light!" Pit continued as he took down centurions. "But something is blocking that light now. This isn't the real you." "Someone cue the strings..." Viridi sighed again. "Hey, would you mind holding the commentary for just two seconds, Viridi?" Pit asked. "Why, yes. Yes, I would," Viridi replied. "These are goddesses you're talking to here, Pit. Watch your tone," said Phosphora. "Butt out, Phosphora! The goddess of light has turned dark," said Pit. "Skyworld is destroyed! Everything is wrong, and it's up to me to make things right!" "Oh, Pit. You never change, do you?" Palutena sighed. "You're just as naïve as ever." "I'm not naïve!" Pit responded. "Don't get me wrong. I appreciate how easy that's made things for me," said Palutena. "But you have to understand, the past is gone." "Fine. If that's the way you really feel, I guess I have no choice," said Pit. "As the captain of your guard, it's my duty to save you from what you've become. And if saving you means defeating you, then I'll do what I have to do." But as he continued onwards and took down more members of Palutena's Army, he heard another voice. "Why do you bother in trying to save Lady Palutena anyway?" he asked. "Devil Pit!" Pit yelled. "You really are stupid as I intended. You can't do anything to save the so-called 'Goddess of Light.'" "Yes he can!" Viridi shouted. "Especially since YOU'RE the one responsible for all of this!" "What rubbish," Devil Pit sighed. "If you really want me to let you live, I suggest you turn back now if you want to value your pitiful afterlives. Because if you don't, then your execution will be sentenced." "I will not let you hurt Lady Palutena any longer, Devil Pit!" Pit yelled. "And we will do whatever it takes to stop you!" Viridi added. Pit continued onwards and entered the temple grounds. "I finally get to see the hallowed grounds of Palutena's temple," said Viridi. "It used to be so beautiful..." said Pit. "Until that monster had to take everything down!" Along the way while taking down more centurions, Pit heard loud shockwaves from the sky. "W-What was that?!" he wondered in shock. "I'm not going to let you run away from me that easily, Phosphora!" Devil Pit yelled. "It's time for a rematch after you and that angel humiliated me back at your father's place!" "Argh! You really are a monster when it comes to taking down your enemies ruthlessly!" Phosphora cried. "Please! I'm the Devil, and I have a lot of work to do!" Devil Pit scoffed. "Phosphora! You have to keep Devil Pit at bay while Pit continues his mission!" Viridi ordered. "Find a way to take him down!" "I-I'll try, Mistress!" said Phosphora. "Pit! You can continue onwards to save Palutena! I'll take on Devil Pit from here!" "Thanks, Phosphora! I'll do my best for you and Lady Palutena!" said Pit. "Guess that makes both of us even!" "Heh heh. I agree with you on that one!" Phosphora giggled. "Now enough talk! Prepare to go down again, Devil Pit!" "Just try, you foolish electric bitch!" Devil Pit scoffed as they continued to battle. Pit then entered a hall, found an Exo Tank, and hopped in. "Oh. An Exo Tank," said Viridi. "This used to be an Exo Tank track. Now look at it. It's a wreck," Pit sighed. "And it's all thanks to Devil Pit for ruining our lives!" As he continued onwards, he decided to ask Viridi something. "So, Viridi, tell me about this Chaos Kin you mentioned earlier," he said. "Oh, right, I almost forgot," said Viridi and she began to explain what the Chaos Kin is. "Little is known about the Chaos Kin except for this," she began and sent Pit a picture of it. "It takes its victims back to its nest, the Chaos Vortex, and consumes their souls." "Well, that's disturbing," said Pit. It's honestly no surprise, since Devil Pit wanted to do the same thing earlier, he added in thought. That and he also ate human corpses like a Guttler. "It melts them down and then slowly chews away at them," Viridi continued. "Even more frightening is the Chaos Kin's ability to control the soul's owner." "Does that mean that Lady Palutena is under the Chaos Kin's control right now?" Pit asked. "It's very likely. And as for who turned you into a ring, who would be capable of such a thing?" said Viridi. "You yourself admitted that Palutena's put you in some very dangerous situations." "She must have been acting under the Chaos Kin's control," Pit wondered. "But there's no time to think about that. I have to save Lady Palutena before the Chaos Kin consumes her soul." "You think it starts from her head or her feet?" Viridi asked. "Big bites or tiny nibbles?" "Wow, Viridi. Just... Wow," Pit gasped in horror. "That's actually pretty funny when it's coming from you, Viridi," said Devil Pit. "It would be better if you joined us for destruction. But I have a feeling that wouldn't be the case." "Of course not!" Viridi yelled. "Just because I explained what the Chaos Kin does, doesn't mean I would join with you, monsters!" "Touché," replied Devil Pit. "But you're wrong about one thing." "And that would be?" Viridi asked. "The Chaos Kin wasn't the one that 'turned' Pit into a ring," Devil Pit explained. "It gave me the Ring of Chaos after I got back from the Aurum. I used Spiritual Possession to possess Pit's body and transport his soul into the ring." "Wait? You got back from the Aurum after you escaped?" Viridi asked, shocked. "That's right. Sending out the Aurum to terminate you was a distraction," Devil Pit responded. "WHAT?!" Pit gasped. "Before I sent the Chaos Kin to collect human souls after killing them, I sent out the Aurum to distract you while the Chaos Kin did its job," Devil Pit explained further. "It is a commander of the Dark Allies clan, my right hand pet, making us the Dynamic Duo, and the leader of the Chaos army. And the souls it gathered? It is working with me to perform a ritual by devouring the souls to obtain more power." "A ritual? What ritual?" Pit questioned. "As if I'd bother telling YOU about it," Devil Pit replied. "But I will say that the Chaos Kin wasn't actually like this in the first place." "It wasn't?" asked Phosphora. "I fought it once before many years ago back at the Lunar Sanctum," Devil Pit explained. "After I defeated it, I corrupted and sent it to kill somebody. But it failed its tasked and wounded up captured in the Lunar Sanctum." "So that explains why it was there in the first place and why it's working with you!" said Pit. "But there's no time to think about that now, Pit!" said Viridi. "We must rescue Palutena from the hands of both Devil Pit and the Chaos Kin!" "Right! Ready yourself, Devil Pit!" said Pit. "Oh I will once I'm done with HER!" Devil Pit replied and there was another shockwave. "You'll pay for that!" Phosphora yelled. Pit continued onwards after taking down more troops of Palutena's Army and went down some stairs. "Things get a little twisted up this way," said Viridi. "There are multiple jail cells above- and belowground." "I'll say it's twisted! Skyworld never needed jails before!" said Pit. "Snap out of it, you idealist. There's obviously a need now," said Viridi. "But—" Pit started before he was interrupted by Viridi. "It's a maze. That's what I meant when I said it's twisted," she continued. "Familiarize yourself with the surrounding passages to keep from getting lost." Pit tried to figure out a way out of the cells and entered one of them. "Huh? Is this...?" he wondered. He found the final piece of the Daybreak. "Oh! It's the last piece!" he exclaimed. "Now that I have all of the pieces, I can use it whenever I have the chance!" (A/N: The Daybreak is very important. It's going to be useful later on. You'll see what I mean.) As he got out of the cell, there was a loud sound. "What's that noise?" he wondered. "Pit! Get out of there!" Viridi warned. Pit got out of the cell just in time to see the Heavenly Chariot in bad shape. "Whoa!" he gasped. "Curse you, Phosphora!" Devil Pit yelled in defeat. "This isn't the last time you see and hear me!" He then left to Palutena's temple to recover. "Now that Devil Pit is out of the way, you can save Palutena a lot more easily," said Phosphora as she was whisked back to Viridi's temple. "Thanks, Phosphora!" Pit replied. "Time to continue on with my mission." But as he continued onwards to find a way out of the maze, he heard another voice. "Sorry I'm late! Thanks for clearing the way for me, Pitty Pat," he said. "Hades!" Pit shouted. "Oh, great. It's Mr. Personality," Viridi sighed. "I just want to get this out there. The Chaos Kin doesn't work for me," said Hades. "They already knew that because I explained our master plan," said Devil Pit. "It seems it built up quite the grudge being locked away in the Lunar Sanctum," Hades continued. "So when Devil Pit blew it up with bombs, it got loose," said Pit. "You're right about that," said Devil Pit. "The War of Chaos was what made you guys not notice it in the first place." "If only I'd been there at the time. Or Arlon should have explained the situation," said Viridi. "But you know how reserved he is. Well, that's all in the past. Arlon posed a threat to you. So I can't blame you for defeating him." "But I can! Because the Chaos Kin didn't just 'get loose' on its own. You set it free," said Hades. "That overgrown louse is quite a handful, even for me." "Talk about someone who only cares about a different kind of destruction than I do," said Devil Pit. "I don't understand why anyone would create such a hideous monster," said Pit. "And who made you the final arbiter on which creatures live and which ones die?" asked Hades. "The Chaos Kin might not be as soft and cuddly as you, Pitty Pat. But you can't just wipe out every living thing that doesn't suit your liking." "Technically, you can. Especially if you're in battle," said Viridi. "But that's only in MY perspective," said Devil Pit. "Hmm. Can't argue with that," said Hades. "Just so we're clear, I'm defeating the Chaos Kin to save Lady Palutena," said Pit. "Not because it's really ugly!" "That's what he said," Devil Pit chuckled. "Oh shut up..." Pit groaned. Along the way, Viridi decided to tell Pit about his weapons. "So claws are your weapon of choice, are they?" she asked. "They're light, razor sharp, and fire super fast!" said Pit. "They're nothing compared to my fingernails. Now THOSE would rip you up!" said Viridi. "Wow, really?" Pit asked. "My nails can displace entire rivers and level mountain ranges!" Viridi continued. "I don't doubt it!" Pit replied. "My nails can eviscerate the entire core of the Earth!" Viridi continued further. "Wait what?" Devil Pit questioned. "OK, OK, I get it. Geez. You must have, like, the worst cuticles," said Pit. "And besides the only person that can destroy the world is me!" said Devil Pit. "Have you forgotten about someone?" Hades asked. "Does it even count when I killed many mortal victims and you don't?" Devil Pit countered. "Good point," said Hades. Pit continued to take down more enemies and found another Zodiac Chamber. He entered the chamber, collected the Capicorn Club, and exited the chamber to continue his mission. He then obtained a key and unlocked the door to get out of the maze. "Will you look at that! The mouse made it to the cheese!" said Hades. "Good job, Pit! But you're out of the frying pan and into the fire!" said Viridi. "Let's see how we can spice things up a bit. This will be fun!" said Devil Pit. "Take down the intruder, my soldiers!" After taking down all of the members of Palutena's Army, Pit continued onwards until he he was outside with a windy path. "It's a long way down," he said. "Yes, falling would certainly throw a wrench into the plan," Viridi agreed. "So would getting tossed around by the side winds ahead," said Hades. "My, my, Pitty Pat. Palutena must hate you even more than I do!" "This isn't her doing!" Pit yelled. "I wouldn't be so sure about that," said Palutena. "What is this, Everyone Pick On Pit Day?" Pit asked. "I don't want to hear anything you have to say, you fake. And I'm NOT going to let a little wind stop me!" "We'll see who's going to be the one stopped when you make it here alive, flightless angel!" said Devil Pit. "AND STOP CALLING ME 'FLIGHTLESS ANGEL!'" Pit yelled. "Whoa..." Viridi gasped. "Someone here is acting all tough," said Hades, surprised. After making through the tough path, Pit continued onwards and found an Exo Tank. "Looks like someone left a tiny trike behind," said Hades. "It's not a trike! It's an EXO TANK!" Pit yelled as he hopped into the vehicle. "You really have to learn how to tune him out," said Viridi. "I try! He's just so annoying!" said Pit. "Almost as annoying as Devil Pit!" "Very funny," Devil Pit responded. "Anyway, just drive that Exo Tank right through enemies!" said Viridi. Pit did so and took them all out with it. He then continued onwards though the gate. "You'll need to use the Exo Tank to cut straight through the area up ahead," said Viridi. "Whatever you do, don't slow down. Just go for it!" Pit did so and got through the enemies successfully. "Excellent job, Pit!" said Viridi who was proud of him. Man. She really does care about me, Pit thought while blushing. "'Excellent' might be overstating it," said Hades. "Oh yeah? What would you say about who did something stunning as that?" Devil Pit asked. Hades didn't say anything about that. "That's what I thought," said Devil Pit. "I suggest you quit while you're ahead, Pit," Palutena warned. "You heard her!" Devil Pit joined in. "If you don't turn back now, you execution WILL be fulfilled!" "Never!" Pit yelled. "Things are about to get hectic!" said Viridi. "So what?! I can take it!" said Pit. "We'll see...Hehehehe..." Devil Pit chuckled. Pit soon took down all of Devil Pit's troops and is ready to finish this. "All right! It's finally time to save Palutena!" said Viridi. "'Save Palutena?' Don't you mean 'crush Palutena?'" Hades asked. "Go home, Hades. Just go home," Pit groaned. "Let's see how well you can take her on, Pit!" said Devil Pit. Pit then drank another Drink of the Gods and proceeded onwards to save Palutena once and for all.

Pit arrived at the heart of Palutena's temple where he faced the Goddess of Light herself, approaching him. "So you're here to fight me, Pit?" she asked. "No..." Pit responded sadly before giving out a determined pose. "No! I'm here to save you!" he cried and the battle began. Palutena started the fight by attacking Pit, but the angel dodged them and refused to fight back. "The Chaos Kin is close by. I can feel it," said Viridi. "You have to locate and destroy it. However, be sure not to hurt Palutena." "But I thought the Chaos Kin was, like, camping out in her brain or something," said Pit. "No. The Chaos Kin is hiding. You just have to find it," said Devil Pit. "Look carefully! Above her!" said Viridi. "Nah, you don't need to look up there!" said Hades. "Then how else is he going to find my pet?" Devil Pit asked. Hades didn't say anything else after that. "That's what I thought," said Devil Pit. "Listen for the Chaos Kin. The sound's coming from above," said Viridi. Pit managed to locate the purple aura cloud of the Chaos Kin. He then proceeded to melee combo it. "Nice!" he exclaimed. "Yeah, that's it!" said Viridi. "Hide behind the goddess, Chaos Kin!" Devil Pit ordered. "That way, you won't get yourself hurt in the process!" The Chaos Kin did as it was ordered and hid behind Palutena. "That's low, you coward!" Pit shouted. "What do you even expect from our clan?" said Devil Pit. "We ALWAYS stoop so low!" "Calm down. Just wait for your chance!" said Viridi. The Chaos Kin then suddenly flew away from Palutena to reveal itself again. "Now's your chance! Attack!" Viridi yelled. Pit charged at the Chaos Kin to deal the finishing blow. But just before he was about to hit it... "I don't think so!" yelled Devil Pit as he pushed Pit back with his Guardian Orbitars. "Argh!" he yelled. "Oh no!" Viridi yelled. Pit slowly got back up and saw his attacker standing next to Palutena and the Chaos Kin.

"Nrgh... You again!" Pit groaned after he got back up. "I'm not going to let you defeat my right hand pet, Pit!" said the Devil. "And since you refused to heed my warning, I'm afraid we're going to have to execute you!" "You heard the captain, Pit!" said Palutena. "You're no longer part of my army! Devil Pit will make sure that you must be gone! Permanently!" "You can't do something like that!" Pit yelled. "You have to free Lady Palutena from your control!" "And what happens if I say 'no?'" Devil Pit asked. "Then you leave me no choice but to defeat both you and the Chaos Kin!" Pit replied. "Very well!" said Devil Pit as he readied his weapons. "If you want to defeat the Chaos Kin, you have to get through me first! Prepare to be executed!" "No! It will be YOUR exile!" Pit yelled. "But first, why don't I make this a fun dance?" said Devil Pit. He then raised his right arm and swung it around the battle arena. He used Pyrokinesis to create a wildfire around the arena. "Are you ready to dance, Pit?" asked Devil Pit as he readied himself. "Let's dance, MONSTERS!" Pit yelled as he readied himself, too. The battle has continued.

Devil Pit charged at Pit with and used a forward-dash charged shot to attack him. Pit swiftly dodged at tried to attack the Chaos Kin again. But once he used a melee combo to strike, Devil Pit blocked it with his Guardian Orbitars. "Argh! Get out of my way!" Pit yelled. "Not a chance, Pit!" said Devil Pit. "Devil Pit is not going to let you attack the Chaos Kin!" said Viridi. "That means you have to defeat him first before taking down the Chaos Kin!" "She's right, you know," said Devil Pit. "I'm the defensive. The Chaos Kin is the offensive when it's controlling the Goddess of Light." "Then I'll just have to take you down!" said Pit. "I'd like to see you try," said Devil Pit. "Lady Palutena! Stop him!" Palutena continued to fire shots at Pit to slow him down while the Chaos Kin hid behind Palutena to stop Pit from attacking. "Well this has gotten very interesting," said Hades. "I didn't think someone would try to take down two people at once!" "Well that's because I and the Chaos Kin are the Dynamic Duo for our crimes!" said Devil Pit. "Once we finish this angel, we'll kill more humans and devour their souls for the ritual!" "You will do no such thing!" Pit yelled. He then continued to us a melee combo on Devil Pit, only to be blocked by the Guardian Orbitars. "Keep attacking!" said Viridi. "He'll eventually get tired out!" Pit continued to attack, while avoided Palutena's attacks, and broke through Devil Pit's barrier. "Damn it!" he yelled. "Time to finish you off!" Pit yelled and continued to use a melee combo at his foe until he was defeated. "No!" he cried in defeat. "Now to take down the Chaos Kin!" said Pit. Pit soon eventually found the Chaos Kin again after he came out of its hiding spot behind Palutena. He proceeded to use both melee and shooting attack combos to finally take it down. "I can't believe it! I did it!" he yelled in victory. "Unghh..." Palutena groaned as she broke free from the Chaos Kin's control.

Palutena collapsed to the ground and Pit rushed to her side. "Pit..." Palutena groaned. "Are you all right?! I didn't mean to hurt you," said Pit, worried. "Ugh...huh..." Palutena grunted as she struggled to get up. Devil Pit slowly got back up after he regained his balance. "D-Don't think you have won yet!" he started. "I have planned a special surprise after you saved your goddess, Pit! CHAOS KIN, NOW!" The Chaos Kin regained balance and rushed towards Palutena. "Pit! Behind you!" Viridi warned. Pit noticed it too late and the Chaos Kin ripped Palutena's soul out of her body. This caused Palutena to be petrified like a statue. Devil Pit walked up to the Chaos Kin. "Excellent work," he told his pet. "Now that we got her soul, it's time to head to the Chaos Vortex to begin our meal." The Chaos Kin complied and opened up the portal to the Chaos Vortex. Devil Pit then turned to Pit. "You'll never catch us, flightless angel," he said as he and the Chaos Kin flew into the portal. Then Devil Pit slowly closed it. "They're heading into the Chaos Vortex!" said Viridi. "Viridi! You have to help me fly RIGHT NOW!" Pit ordered as he rushed towards the portal. "O-of course!" said Viridi. She then activated the Power of Flight and Pit flew into the portal. "Oh no you don't!" said Devil Pit and made the portal too small for Pit to enter. This caused Pit to slam into it and tumbled back. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaugh!" he yelled as he fell back into the arena. "Now what?!" Viridi cried. Suddenly, they heard another voice. "Out of the way! Coming through!" he said. "Pittoo?" Pit yelped after hearing him. Dark Pit used the Lightning Chariot, with Phosphora flying next to him, and slammed into the portal to split it open. "Grrah! Agh! Grah! Ugh..." Dark Pit grunted as he fell off the chariot and tumbled into the arena. "AAAAHHH!" Devil Pit yelled as he flew backwards after the impact. Phosphora then hopped into the Lightning Chariot after Dark Pit fell off. "Don't worry. I got this," she said and brought the chariot down to the light and dark angels. "What the—?" Pit started, confused about why Pittoo was helping him again. "There's no time to talk about it!" the dark angel replied. "We have to go help Palutena NOW!" "He's absolutely right," Viridi agreed before opening up a light pillar. "But first let's get you back. You've been through a lot, and the writer might be feeling the same way." (A/N: I am actually, because I think this might be the biggest chapter I have ever wrote down. Just saying. But we're not done yet. Let's resume.) She then whisked Pit back to her temple. I can hear you! Devil Pit mentally yelled. "Actually, Mistress, I need to enter the Chaos Vortex to see what they're planning," said Phosphora. "Are you sure, Phosphora? It's too dangerious," Viridi warned. "I'll be fine. I'm just going to sneak in without them knowing," Phosphora replied. "If you say so," said Viridi. "Come on, Dark Pit. We need you back as well." "Fine. But only because this is serious," Dark Pit replied as he was whisked back to Viridi's temple, too. Phosphora then entered the Chaos Vortex to figure something out.

Meanwhile in the Chaos Vortex, Devil Pit slowly got back up to his feet on a floating platform. "Ugh... Curse that dark angel clone!" he grunted after standing up. "He just broke the portal open and now they're going to make a plan to strike at us. We need to slow them down as much as possible." Phosphora just entered the Chaos Vortex and hid behind a wall of another floating platform that was closer to her enemy. "Chaos Kin! Get over here right now!" Devil Pit ordered. The Chaos Kin complied and arrived at the platform, with Palutena's soul still holding on its tail. "Now that we have Palutena's soul, we can use it for the ritual to devour more souls and drink blood to gain more power," Devil Pit started. "We also have the souls of Emperor Nero and his empire after I executed them for their sins. Talk about Karma." Phosphora gasped after hearing that. So THAT'S why he has the Sword of Death, she thought. He executed my killer after what he did to me and my brother. "However, Palutena's soul is too powerful for us to devour, so we have to wait until it is weak enough for us to feast on," Devil Pit continued. "After we ate all of the souls and drank the blood, we'll perform a ritual to open up a portal that will release the demons from Abyss. Those demons were trapped from the Underworld many years ago after they disobeyed their orders and with their help, we can destroy the universe and gain more and more power to cause more chaos!" Phosphora was even more shocked to hear that. No! I cannot let them do that! she mentally yelled. I have to warn Mistress Viridi and the angels about this! The Chaos Kin suddenly noticed Phosphora and said Lightning Nymph quickly hid behind the wall to avoid getting spotted by Devil Pit. "What is it?" he asked his pet. The Chaos Kin said something that meant "nothing." "Well then, we must move on with the plan," Devil Pit continued. "Once we complete what must be done, the Dark Allies will rise once again, the universe will be ours to destroy, and the new world will be ours to rule away from the old useless one!" They soon left to start their plan. Phosphora gasped in horror to hear all of that. "I better warn Mistress Viridi and the angels right now!" she said as she flew out of the Chaos Vortex. "What happened in there, Phosphora?" Viridi asked as she opened up a light pillar. "You will not believe what I just heard!" Phosphora responded as she was whisked back to Viridi's temple.

Phosphora was whisked into the dining area of Viridi's temple where everybody else were waiting. "Phosphora, what happend in there?" Dark Pit asked. "It's horrible! I heard what Devil Pit and the Chaos Kin are planning to do!" Phosphora began. "What is it?" Pit asked. "They're planning to devour human souls and Palutena's soul and drink lots of blood to obtain more power," Phosphora continued. "They're also planning to perform some kind of ritual to open up a portal that will unleash powerful demons from a place called 'Abyss.' They even have the souls of Emperor Nero and his empire as well. That's why he has the Sword of Death!" Everyone was shocked to hear the terrifying news. "Oh dear...!" Arlon gasped. "No way!" Dark Pit exclaimed. "They can't do this to Palutena!" Viridi yelled in shock. Pit, however, was the most shocked of them all. "N-no! This is- I-I can't-" he stuttered. He was too shocked to even say anything. The news he heard was too much for him to bear. He quickly ran to his room and slammed the door shut. He began to cry in tears. "Oh dear. Now I feel terrible about this," said Dark Pit. "I'll go check on him," said Viridi. She then headed to Pit's room and opened the door.

There the Goddess of Nature found the sobbing angel, crying in fear and sadness after he heard the terrifying news of what Devil Pit and the Chaos Kin are planning. She slowly walked to Pit and gently embraced him in a hug. This made Pit stop sobbing and slowly looked up to see her face. When Viridi saw the red puffy eyes and tear stains on his face, it made her feel extremely guilty. "Pit...I know how you feel," she began. "I was scared to hear that, too. But we're in this together." "Why d-do you even c-care about me?" Pit stuttered. "You tried to kill me f-from the beginning of that w-war..." This made Viridi feel terrible after she heard that. "I never wanted any of that in the first place," she cried as tears started to form in her eyes. "I-If only the Chaos Kin d-didn't exist then n-none of this would've ever h-happened." Now it was Pit's turn to feel bad for Viridi. He then gave her a kiss on her forehead, causing the goddess to blush bright pink and stop sobbing. "You shouldn't blame yourself for that, Viridi," the angel started. "I would've understood the problem if Devil Pit wasn't around. But we're going to save Lady Palutena together." This made Viridi smile as she and the light angel walked back to the dining area.

Everyone was relieved to see Pit clam now with the help of Viridi. Despite the fact that they saw their tear stains, they were both okay. "Well, we're glad to see you much better, Young Master Pit," said Arlon. "Yeah. Sorry if that even scared any of you," Pit apologized. "Don't worry about that," said Phosphora. "To be frank, we were all terrified about the bad news." "She's right, you know," said Dark Pit. "But anyway, I have a plan to stop Devil Pit and the Chaos Kin and save Palutena. Pit and I will enter the Chaos Vortex so that we can get through their defenses. We will then find the Chaos Kin and get Palutena's soul back!" Everybody else nodded in agreement with the plan. "But first, we need to take a break so that we can get ourselves ready to save Lady Palutena," said Pit. "I'd say the same thing," Phosphora agreed. "Then let's go to our rooms and sleep for the night," said Viridi. "Tomorrow, we'll save Palutena from those monsters!" Everyone else nodded in agreement and all headed back into their rooms. Dark Pit, however, was having trouble falling asleep. I can't believe he went through all of that, he thought. When I fought him, it's like I'm hitting myself. Then he heard his door creak open. He looked at the door and saw Phosphora entering in. "Is everything alright?" she asked. Dark Pit just hang his head down. Phosphora then walked to Dark Pit's bed and sat down. "What's wrong?" she asked the dark angel. Dark Pit slowly raised his head up as he looked at the Lightning Nymph. "Ever since that war, I've been feeling Pit's pain," he began. "When Pit's soul was transported into that ring, I was left unconscious. I couldn't even think properly now that things are getting worse." This made Phosphora frown. She then cupped Dark Pit's right cheek with her left hand and made a small kiss on his left cheek. This made Dark Pit blush a little bit. "Don't worry," said Phosphora. "We'll do whatever it takes to save Palutena. We're in this together, so get some rest, cutie.~" She finished with a wink and left Dark Pit's room. Dark Pit was left speechless and slowly placed his palm on the cheek Phosphora kissed. "You're right. We WILL get Palutena back," he smiled in determination and then went to sleep.

We're getting closer to the end of the Chaos arc. And from what you saw in that last scene, yes. I ship Phosphora with Dark Pit. But like I said, I'm not going to be critical about your opinions. I will confess that I WAS like that before about a few years ago. But in the end of 2020, I changed my ways and I will not be like my stupid idiotic self ever again. Now then, stay tuned for chapter twenty one, review, and have a great day!
