Chapter 28
Christina fought to keep herself from laughing when Jo brought Dean an icepack for his nose about ten minutes later. Dean shot her a glance which only made holding her laughter even harder. She shook her head and glanced up at Ellen who was staring her down with unasked questions behind those eyes.
"So you're one of John's kids. How'd you meet your brothers?"
"College. Sam was my friend and his late girlfriend was my roommate when I first got there. Then I met Dean after he broke in Sam's apartment and tossed me into a bookshelf."
"I said I was sorry." Dean grumbled as he carefully pressed the cold compress onto his nose. "Are you ever gonna let that go?"
"Nope." Christina said but she said it with a smile. "Just like I'm not gonna let you forget you got your ass handed to you by a girl like that." She chuckled as Dean glared at her but couldn't help but blush as Jo placed a hand on his arm. A soft ring came from inside Christina's pocket and she looked confused. "I'm gonna go take this." She said and quickly left the bar through the kitchen as it was closer and answered the phone call. "Hello?"
"Hey Christy." Christopher's voice was soft and guilt ridden making Christina fight the urge to not just hang up on him out of spite. "Long time no see."
"What do you want?" Christina asked her voice harsh. "You got a lot of nerve to call me after the stunt you pulled a while back."
"I know what I did was wrong. Both mom and Granny made sure I paid for what I've done."
"I'm kind of busy, Christopher. What do you want? My forgiveness?"
"No." Christopher's answer actually shocked Christina as she was certain that was why he was calling her. "I...I wanted to warn you about something. Something that Granny just told me. I tried to talk to you earlier but your brother answered your call. But when he said you were busy I hung up like a fool."
"Then what do you need to tell me?" Christina asked hearing voices of her brothers calling for her. "Listen Christopher I got to go. I'm being called."
"This is important." Christopher said his voice sounding desperate.
"Look, I'm sorry, I got to go." Christina hung up already feeling a little guilty of not hearing what Christopher had to say. But she had to head out to the front where her brothers were heading back to the van. Without any words, Dean started the van and drove off. "So what's going on?"
"We got a case." Dean said. "So I appreciate you joining us."
"Sorry got a call from Christopher." Christina said trying not to take Dean's condescending tone literal. "He wanted to talk about something. But you interrupted so I hung up on him."
"Christopher was he the guy that..." Sam started before Christina interrupted.
"Voodoo curse down in New Orleans? Yeah that's him." Christina didn't need to hide the disdain she still had for him.
"Did he want to apologize for what he did to us?" Dean asked after a few minutes.
"He said he was sorry but he wasn't asking for forgiveness as in all honesty I don't think he earns it. Not right now at least. I may forgive him eventually...maybe on my own death bed." She shrugged as she leaned back and looked out at the landscape. "But he did say he wanted to talk about something important."
"Like what?" Sam asked as he adjusted into the seat to get comfortable for the long drive.
"No idea. But he did say he felt like an idiot for hanging up after you told him I was busy." Christina leaned against the back seat the thoughts of what Christopher could tell her since she couldn't believe him after what happened just a little while ago. "But I'll give him a call when I feel like calling him again."
"Good, but I don't want you to distract yourself. We got a case and I need you in the game."
"Sure thing." Christina said then sighed as she settled into the back seat.
"What's the case, do we know?" She asked spotting something in Sam's lap.
"Killer clowns." Dean said smiling and smacking Sam in the arm which resulted in a retaliation of Sam hitting Dean. "Oh come on you going to burst into tears like you did when you were a kid?"
"At least I'm not scared of flying." Sam fought back making Dean go rigid.
"Hey planes crash." Dean said justifying something that must have been an inside joke between them as Christina knew of Sam's fear of clowns from when she saw him nearly beat a clown to death at a spook alley and didn't know Dean was scared of anything.
"Yeah apparently Clowns kill." Sam stated closing the folder he had in his hands and rubbed his face as he tried not to throw punches. "So how long til we get there?"
"At least six hours...with this car. In my car she would have gotten us there in half the time."
Both Sam and Christina knew what their brother meant about their travel time being better when they were in the Impala but none of the could complain as they only had their current Van to get them to their location safely.

The Carnival's loud atmosphere caused all three Winchesters to try and move out of the way so they would not be trampled by guests and staff alike.
Dean tried to make sense of all that was around him as he tried to limit him and his siblings out in the open for much longer. But he did conclude that they needed to speak with the owner as the kids that survived stated they all went to the very carnival and the Winchesters needed to be able to walk around without causing suspicion.
"Let's look around see if we can find this Mr. Cooper and see about these killings." Dean said pulling Christina closer to him as a young carnival worker giving his sister flirty glances holding a giant bear he lead the way into a large plastic yellow and red circus tent.
"Mind letting me go now?" Christina asked gently shaking her arm out of Dean's grasp. "Guy wasn't dangerous. But I think it's sweet that you care."
Dean huffed but shook his head bringing him back into the case while he noticed a man wearing dark sunglasses sitting down his face relaxed and was staring at the wall. "Excuse me, we're here to see Mr. Cooper. Do you know where we can find him?"
"I've never SEEN Mr. Cooper." The man said angling his head and pulling off his sunglasses to show that the man had cloudy eyes. "What kind of sick joke are you trying to pull?"
Sam and Christina was taken aback by the man's actions but they were trying their hardest not to laugh as Dean fumbled with his words.
"Not trying to make any kind of joke," Dean fumbled trying his hardest not to hit a blind man. "Just been trying to find Mr. Cooper. Just need to be pointed in the right direction."
"What's going on here." Came a voice to Dean's left.
"Nothing but a little misunderstanding." Dean said turning expecting to see someone there but there wasn't anyone standing there.
"Who are you calling little?!" The voice spoke again and Dean looked down to see a small man standing there looking like he was about to kick Dean's butt.
"Please forgive my brother," Christina said seeing a fight about to break out. "He's just an idiot. We just are wanting employment and need to find Mr. Cooper."
The blind man stopped and turned his head so he was aiming in the general location of Christina which made her very uncomfortable. "Oh, why didn't anyone say that before?" Dean grumbled but the man and Dean's siblings ignored it while the blind man happily smiled. "His trailer is on the far East side. It's the only one there so you can't miss it. Makes it easier for me to find him when I need to grab my paycheck."
"Well I do appreciate the help." Christina said pulling Dean before he went up and slugged the man in the face.
"Not a problem. Will be seeing you all around." His joke was followed by a chuckle coming from the small man. Much to the Winchesters surprise the blind man picked up a large knife and flung it to a large target they just realized was there and hit the target in the middle bullseye.
"Guy was really close to getting punched in that mouth of his." Dean grumbled as he lead his siblings to the trailer that was indeed the only one there.
"Yeah that would be smart." Sam said sarcastically as they stopped just outside the door of the trailer. "Picking a fight with someone who can't see it coming."
Dean opened his mouth but Sam had already knocked on the door of the trailer.
A balding middle aged man with thick glasses opened up the door and looked at the three siblings standing awkwardly on the small landing on top of the stairs.
"Mr. Cooper?" Sam asked after the man acknowledged that he was the man in question Sam had asked for and allowed the three inside.
"You three want a job?" Mr. Cooper said as he walked behind a desk. Inside the three siblings noticed there had been only two extra chairs. One was a uncomfortable clown chair while the other was still uncomfortable looking but an old office chair. Dean and Sam rushed fighting over the normal chair while Christina slowly stood in the back where there was a stool which she quietly took. "So you three have experience working in this environment?"
"Yeah," Dean said quickly with a cocky grin as he leaned back in his chair. "We did this in Lincoln like...four years ago."
Mr. Cooper scoffed and leaned back in his chair shaking his head. "You see this picture?" He asked pointing to a decent sized black and white photo of three men standing. "That's my daddy, his brother and his father. The one thing my daddy gave me besides how I look, is how to see someone spewing cow dung."
"We really need a job and you have three people willing to help you." Christina said quickly. "You would only have to give us half of what you pay everyone else. We're willing to do anything."
"You three need to go back to where you come from. Go back to school get married have kids. This isn't the life either one of you want."
"But none of us want that." Sam said getting a surprised sideways glance from Dean. "We're willing to start today and we are all quick learners."
Mr. Cooper sighed and leaned back. "Alright fine. But I'm only able to hire two of you. I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it Mr. Cooper," Christina said making them all stand up. "I do appreciate the thought."
As Sam and Dean got jackets from Mr. Cooper, he gave a voucher for a small discount for Christina to use for only that day. Sam and Dean were also handed a large carrier garbage bag and a garbage stick before sending the boys and Christina out of his trailer and towards the large carnival stands.
"Here take this to keep an eye out for any creepy clowns." Dean said handing his siblings some earphones with mics. "But I think you'll be having it easier, since you'll be a civilian rather then a worker." Dean said jealous of Christina.
"It's not all that bad, Dean. I only got five percent off every purchase. But this isn't for pleasure...but I will indulge in a few carnival treats." She smiled broadly. "See ya boys. Have fun at work." She grinned hopping over to the large row of food trucks.

The crowd at the carnival didn't seemed to bother with Sam and Dean as they worked on picking up garbage. Christina had stopped by periodically giving them food and helping each on their area, so they could sit and take a break.
After relieving Sam from his second small break Christina looked down at Sam's pocket as the EMF detector started to whirl and whine. "Got a hit?" She asked as Sam pulled it out.
"Yeah, but I'm not seeing anything that might indicate a spirit."
"Did I hear you say spirit?" The voice came at a surprise causing both Sam and Christina to jump. When they turned it was the blind man that helped them to where Mr. Cooper's trailer was. "What kind of people are you that talks so easily about spirits? There's no such thing."
"Sorry about the misunderstanding," Christina said with a nervous chuckle. "My brother meant to say spirit as in liquor. Something gave off that smell and that's what he was referring to."
The blind man turned his head slowly in Christina's direction and gradually pulled out a knife from his jacket pocket. "I may be blind but my specialty is knife throwing. I'm able to do my gift by hearing the knife slicing through the air and hitting the target. And if I hit one of my fellow companions I could easily indicate who they are by the smell of their blood. So don't give me that nonsense of smelling liquor as I know you're lying. I can hear your heart beating when you lie."
"Sorry to have bothered you sir." Christina said starting to slowly back away from the man to stand slightly behind Sam. "But I didn't want to assume you believed in spirits and didn't want you to scare you with our beliefs."
"Oh well I apologize for scaring you." The blind man said slipping the knife back inside his jacket. "Have a good day. I'll be seeing you." The man chuckled as he carefully walked away. The two siblings gave each a questionable look before Sam went back to work.
"Sounds like someone's trying to call you." Sam said hearing the barely audible ringtone coming from Christina's pocket.
Christina pulled out her phone and looked down at the name. "I need to get this. I'll be right back." She quickly walked away and found a quiet corner to answer her phone and took in a calming breath before talking. "Hey Christopher I'm sorry about not calling. I got on a case and thing-"
"No I get you're still mad but this is important." Christopher's voice was serious and Christina quickly closed her mouth. "Now I know you just found your brothers and I would never want to interfere with that. But Christina, both my mother and Mama Oakley both sensed an evil inside your brother Sam. They wanted to warn you as they felt this power before."
Christina was confused as she slowly leaned up against the side of a street vendor's trailer. "What do you mean?"
"It seems there's a demon power inside your brother. Do you know if he was possessed by a demon as a child?"
"No." Christina said confused as she never knew anything besides the death of her mother happened before she met Sam and Dean. "But I also never heard that demon possessed people ever keep some of that demon's power."
"That's because it's never been proven. But you need to know your family is being looked after. We'll try and figure something out for you and your brothers."
"Well...I guess thanks are in order...Thank you Christopher."
"You're welcome...but I know this doesn't fix everything I've done. I'll keep you posted."
"Hey Christopher," I may not forgive you for what you've done. But I appreciate the help. Who knows I may be able to forgive you one day."
"Oh, one more thing. Don't let your brothers know. I don't want you to bare the brunt of their anger, nor do I want your brothers to come and take their anger out on me."
Christina couldn't help but chuckle as she shook her head. "I highly doubt they would be able to get close to you. Your mom and Mama Oakley gave off that mamma, grandma bear attitude when we last seen them." She smiled when he chuckled on the other end. "Anyways thanks for letting me know. I'll try and keep in touch."
"Take care of yoursel, Christina." Christopher said before ending the call.
Christina was about to put her phone in her pocket when Dean's number began to flash on her screen and she quickly answered it. "Hey what's the matter? Need another break?"
"No. Sam and I need your help. We found some readings coming from the Fun House. Meet us there?"
Christina's body involuntarily started to shake as a chill ran throuh her like cold water. "Yeah...I-I'll be there shortly." As soon as she hung up the sudden realization that her brother might not know and she felt she needed to at least let him know. But she would think more of it once they were done with this case.
