Happy Thanksgiving! Mackenzie and Sophia are 10 in this chapter.
"Happy Thanksgiving!" Mackenzie announces as she opens the front door to let Jason, Mandy and Sophia in.
"Happy Thanksgiving to you." Jason smiles in return.
The four walk from the front door through the living room into the kitchen. "It smells incredible in here." Mandy shoots Sonny a knowing glance.
Sonny points to the crockpot. "Ah, that would be the cinnamon roll casserole."
"You know I feel robbed, all of those years on Bravo and I never knew you could cook." Jason chuckles.
"That's because Sonny swore me to secrecy." Lisa answers as she walks into the kitchen. "He couldn't ruin his reputation."
"I was the team knuckle dragger, they don't cook." Sonny laughs.
Lisa rubs his shoulder. "Thankfully he got over that."
"Now, since we are pointin fingers, your strong hatred of cookin kinda forced me to." Sonny reminds her.
"Details." Lisa smirks. "Anyways, we have apple cider mimosas, if you want."
"Ooh, yes please." Mandy smiles. "Where did this idea come from anyways?"
"It's somethin Davis and I did for years." Sonny shrugs.
Lisa turns and hands Jason and Mandy their drinks. "Since we didn't have family to spend the holiday with, we created our own tradition of watching and judging the parade in our pajamas while drinking mimosas. Then we eat a huge breakfast, typically pass out for a few hours and then make dinner."
"You know you two would have always been welcome." Jason tells them.
"We know Jace." Sonny pauses. "But that was y'alls family time and we didn't wanna invade."
"But you guys didn't know you were in love with each other." Mandy chuckles. "Right, okay. But regardless of any ball busting, thank you guys for the invite. The parade is Sophie's favorite part of the day and I just know she's going to love it even more getting to watch it with her best friend."
"Kenzie is the same why." Lisa smiles. "Now that the girls are a little older, we thought we would revive the tradition."
"I for one am here for it." Jason mumbles as he picks up a piece of bacon and shoves it in his mouth. "You guys need help with anything?"
"Nope." Sonny shakes his head. "The casserole is cookin, bacon and sausage are done." He looks around the kitchen. "Everything will be good to go for after the parade."
"Alright girls." Mandy says as her and Jason cuddle into one corner of the sectional. "What are you most excited to see?"
"The dancers, Mom." Sophia tells Mandy from the pile of blankets and pillows her and Mackenzie were sitting on, on the floor in front of the roaring fireplace.
"Yeah, Aunt Mandy the Broadway show ones are the coolest." Mackenzie adds.
"Those are cool." Mandy nods in agreement. "I could never be coordinated enough to even think about dancing."
"You're coordinated in other ways." Jason whispers into her ear.
"How did I know you were going to say that." Mand giggles.
"Because we know what we are good at." Jason kisses her on the temple.
Mandy rests her hand on his thigh. "We are incredible at that."
Jason turns his line of sight to Sonny and Davis on the other corner of the sectional. "Emma got back to me late last night and she is going to be able to come. Her flight should be landing around 1400."
"Awesome." Lisa smiles. "She's been so busy lately."
"Seriously." Jason nods. "I'm happy she's finding success, but she works so hard."
"Well, she is a Hayes." Lisa reminds him.
"I suppose that is a fair point. I could see where she gets it from." Jason jokes.
"It's starting." Mac announces.
"Look at that float." He takes a sip of his drink. "Ima be seein that shit in my nightmares."
"It's just a shark float, Dad." Mac tells him without turning around to look at him.
"You know you dad is convinced all sharks are out to get him." Jason laughs when Sonny flips him off. "We could always put you back in the..." Sonny cuts him off. "Don't ya dare finish that sentence. Nightmares."
Mandy looks at Lisa. "How do you live with that?"
"Oh this? You should see him during every aquarium trip." Lisa laughs.
"They are in glass tanks man." Jason tells him. "They can't get you."
Sonny points at Jason. "And ya can shut all the way up."
"It never gets old." Jason laughs.
"That's an awesome float." Mandy says as an intricate float with a pop group on it goes across the tv screen.
"I love that group." Sophia says.
"Me too." Mackenzie agrees.
"When did they become such little grownups?" Lisa asks Sonny.
Sonny shakes his head. "Hell, if I know, but they love music groups now."
Lisa shoots Sonny a knowing look. "It could be worse."
"Don't go there, not yet." Sonny rubs Lisa's shoulder. "Can she just stay young and in a not hatin her parents stage?"
"Hopefully we won't give her a reason to hate us." Lisa reminds him.
"True." Sonny nods.
"Kenzie and Sophie, we have a question for you girls." Lisa tells them.
The two turn and look at Lisa. "What is it, Mom?"
"Would you two want to go to New York next thanksgiving and see the parade in person?" Lisa asks.
"Wait, we can do that?" Sophia clarifies.
"We can." Mandy tells her. "We wanted to wait until you guys were a little older and we could see a bunch of stuff in the city and go to a couple of nice dinners."
"And Broadway." Lisa adds.
"We can really go do all of that?" Mackenzie asks.
"Absolutely." Lisa nods.
"I definitely want to go." Mac says.
"Me too." Sophia smiles. "It sounds like so much fun."
"It is going to be so much fun." Mandy smiles. "Lisa and I will iron out the details and we can all plan an itinerary, sound like a good plan?"
"Yes." Mackenzie and Sophia say in unison.
"I say that went over well." Sonny whispers to Lisa.
Lisa looks up at him. "I told you they would love it."
"So, this motley crue is headed to New York." Jason chuckles.
"Hell, yeah we are, brother." Sonny and Jason air high five.
