Meaning: Escape, revocation

Zatanna trailing kisses down the skin of his bare neck is a feeling Dick doesn't think he can ever get over, but today it just feels vile. Undeserved.

No less than five hours ago, Mount Justice went up in flames. Of course she came to check on him first chance she got. When she heard he was living in the cave (his own place was still under repair following an unfortunate attack several weeks ago), she offered him a place in her own apartment for the night.

So now here he is, trapped in between the grip of her legs while she has her way with him from underneath his exposed, muscular torso.

Her touch is like a drug, and he knows he's addicted. But tonight it just feels so perverse. He doesn't deserve her high right now, and he knows if he didn't say anything then he'd never forgive himself.

"I don't think we should see each other anymore." The words come out quietly, almost hesitantly, but he knows it's for the best. One way or another this accursed plan of his is going to come to light, and when it does he knows there'll be retribution. His own soul's already damned, but he can't possibly risk the backlash hitting her, too.

She looks him dead in the eyes, completely silent for the better half of a minute, and for a second he wishes he'd never said anything.

She's not his girlfriend. They've made that abundantly clear - neither one's ready for that kind of commitment yet. But he loves her. He loves her more than he loves anyone else. He just doesn't want to hurt her any more than he knows he has to.

"Let's talk about this in the morning," is all she says, and despite his better instincts that's enough for him to kiss her back.

Tomorrow they'll have that painful talk, and that's not something he looks forward to. But for now, he's perfectly fine with escaping into beautiful ecstasy with her.
