If only she could see how special he can be

From the moment he woke up, Greg knew it wouldn't be one of his favorite days. He had gotten up half an hour late, and then hadn't heard the cell when Sara had called him.

He reached the crime scene one hour later, a routine B & E in the outskirts of Las Vegas.

He met Sara inside the house, collecting prints from the pieces of the broken window on the floor.

"Hi", he said in an innocent tone, as she turned around.

"Night." she smiled at him softly.

He knelt next to her, leaving his kit next to him without opening it. He just looked at her and kept talking."Grissom is going to kill me"

Sara didn't seem to care about the issue, at least not very much. She carried on working on the scene while Greg stared at her, probably waiting for an answer or at least a nod from her.

After a few minutes of silence, she suddenly turned around to face him.

"Don't worry about Grissom", she said calmly, staring at him.

Now he was curious, "What did you do?" He asked in a intrigued tone.

She turned around her body completely to face him, and then she cleared her throat. "While I was waiting for you in the break room, wondering where you were, Grissom came in and asked me if I had saw you," she made a short pause as Greg was staring at her curiously. "Just in case that he was in a bad mood, I told him you'd called me, and said you had to go to your sister's place".

He was laughing now, making fun of her story. "Great, I have a sister now," he looked down for a second. "Although I would prefer a brother".

"It was the first thing that came to my mind!" she said laughing. "It was that or that your dog was dying. Don't criticize me when I'm trying to save you". She looked away like she was hurt, but she was still giggling.

Thinking about it again, he was pretty thankful that she had been quick to come up with an idea.

"I'm sorry," he was worried he had offended her. "Thanks a lot, you're wonderful." he was surprised by his own comment.

It had been kind of unexpected for both of them, but she was the one who blushed and pretended to keep collecting prints just so she didn't have to face him.

"Thanks," she whispered softly. "I know you would do the same thing for me." she was looking at him now, but her voice was still very soft.

He smiled and even when she was already working at the scene again, he carried on watching her.

What she didn't know was that he could do so much more for her than just that. He wasn't even sure what was that he was feeling, he hated to see her attracted to Grissom. Maybe one day she would see what he could do for her, and that day he would show how special he could be by just how much he loved her. Maybe at the same time he would find it out.
