A/N: Song inspiration for this chapter. Elvis: Can't Help Falling in Love. This song is a classic. Enough said.
NNY propped his legs up on Jenny's counter, spinning a knife aimlessly in his hand.
Ugh, he was so bored! When he offered to join her at her shop, he didn't mean he wanted to sit around doing nothing all day.
When would the stabbing begin?
Hardly anyone dropped by, and Jenny explained it was just a slow morning.
Meanwhile, she arranged flowers in a bouquet, immersing herself in the task. NNY watched her transfixed.
"You're pretty meticulous with those flower arrangements, aren't you?"
Jenny stiffened, peering over her shoulder. NNY met her bright blue eye. A blush tinted her cheek, and the sight was enough to make him stop spinning his knife.
Damn, she really was pretty when she blushed...
"Well, of course. They have to be beautiful."
NNY pursed his lips, shifting his gaze around. Flowers greeted him at every turn, and it really was bright and sunny in Jenny's shop.
"I suppose you're right. You are the florist, after all, so you have an eye for these things..."
He peered her way again, spying the cut stems of her bouquet. He shivered.
Jenny said that the flowers talked to her. So did that mean she...?
Wow. macabre.
"Do you cut their heads off? Even when they talk to you?"
She stilled, gazing down at a pink rose in her hand. "Yes. But I always apologise, and they don't seem to mind. They tell me it doesn't hurt..."
NNY should really keep his mouth shut. He was going to make her feel bad about cutting up some flowers.
"Do they still talk to you after you've... you know... decapitated them...?"
Jenny turned, looking him straight in the eye now. "It depends... Do the heads of the people you've killed still talk to you after you've slain them?"
His heart lurched, and then he shrunk in his seat. It was a genuine question, but she sounded so sombre.
She didn't blink once.
He gave off a nervous sound. "N-no... not really... but... I did talk to a dead rabbit's head for a while. Does that count?"
She thought it through, returning to her bouquet. "I suppose."
NNY sighed, relaxing back into his seat again. He started spinning his knife.
Jenny watched mesmerized, forgetting about her task. He stopped, regarding her curiously. "What is it?"
She bowed, almost looking ashamed. Her cheeks turned bright pink. "Would... would you teach me how to do that one day?"
NNY gazed down at his knife, scratching his head. "You... want me to teach you how to spin a knife?"
"Not just spin. How to hold one too... and... and to stab someone with..."
His weapon clattered to the floor, and Jenny whirled around in shock. "What's wrong? Was it something I said?"
NNY stared at her in disbelief. "You want to go around stabbing people? Why?"
She shrugged, using her pink hair to hide her face. "I don't know... to protect myself? It's not like I'm a stranger to stabbing. I've killed before, you know..."
NNY huffed, jumping to his feet. "I told you that I would protect you. I'll be doing all the stabbing for you, Jenny. You don't even have to break a sweat."
She still wouldn't look at him, plucking a leaf from a rose stem. "Still, it would be nice to learn. You may not always be around."
He stumbled for words. She was right. He may not always be around. Even though he vowed to stay by her side and hunt down her enemies, NNY couldn't possibly stick with her twenty-four-seven.
It wasn't healthy.
He sighed. "All right. I will show you some tricks. But don't start getting any ideas about massacring a whole café now. I'm the local psychopath around here. Not you."
Seriously. NNY didn't need the competition. Besides, he'd already killed his other competitors, like that Jimmy person.
There was also Michael Myers and that Jason guy too, and the doll Chucky...
"Deal," she replied, going back to her pretty flower arrangements, and he guessed that settled it.
He was going to teach her how to stab people.
Just like they do in the movies. So romantic.
"NNY. Can I ask you something?"
He peered up. "Yeah, sure."
Jenny closed her eyes, and her skin turned even brighter than her hair. "Are... are you my boyfriend now?"
NNY's brain short-circuited, and then everything came crashing to a screeching halt. He opened his mouth, but all he managed was a nervous squeak.
"Uh... I... um... w-well..."
"It's okay if you're not. We are still dating after all, and we're not that serious yet. But you're here with me now, protecting me like a storybook knight. I was just... curious..."
Honestly, NNY hadn't even thought about it. All he knew was that he wanted to keep her safe from the bastards who hurt her.
She'd said she'd killed them all, but NNY wasn't so convinced.
He bet one or two were still out there...
NNY exhaled, glancing down at his hands. He drummed his fingernails on the countertop. "I don't know. I do really like you, but we're still strangers. I didn't even know you four weeks ago, yet you've turned my whole life upside down... or the right way up again. My life was pretty chaotic before you came along..."
Jenny smiled, glancing up at him from beneath her eyelashes. "You... like me?"
He shifted his eyes, turning an embarrassing shade of beetroot. "Y-yeah... I didn't think I'd like anyone ever again to be honest. I really don't like people..."
She giggled. "I figured after I found a man's head in your freezer this morning..."
NNY's eyes bugged. Then he smoothed back his hair, giving a toothy grin. "So... you met Frank. He was a real bastard. Cut in front of me in traffic!"
Jenny was still pealing with laughter, and he regarded her strangely.
Was this normal? Talking to a girl about murdering people? Then again, he had fucked her with his knife, and she'd liked it.
He still couldn't believe his luck. He really hit the jackpot with Jenny.
Although she wasn't his type on paper, NNY still liked her... a lot.
He was passionate about her.
Still. He didn't want to go around declaring her as his girlfriend just yet. NNY would guard that part of himself for a little while longer.
Finally, she stopped arranging her bouquet, picking up a sprig of baby's breath. She placed it behind his ear, smiling up at him sweetly, and his heart skipped a beat.
Jenny had one hell of an adorable smile. Did she even realize what she did to him?
"For what it's worth. I really like you too. And thank you for joining me today. It gets really lonesome in the shop sometimes..."
NNY stammered. "You're... you're welcome, Jenny. Anything to put a smile on your face."
She inched closer, and his whole body stiffened when she placed a gentle kiss on his lips. NNY's foot thumped like a rabbit's, and what the hell was wrong with him?
It was just a kiss...
Jenny pulled away, turning as pink as her hair again as she started another bouquet.
NNY stared, dumbfounded.
He was painfully aware of his knife on the floor as he sucked his lower lip. He imagined sticking it inside her again, and sure enough, his dick popped up to say hello.
Fuck. He was horny.
Something tickled along his temple next, and he pulled out the sprig of baby's breath from behind his ear.
A nervous laugh escaped him.
"Why do they call it baby's breath, anyway? I mean, it's not like it smells of sour milk or anything. Heh."
Shit. What the fuck was he talking about?
He sounded like a moron.
Jenny giggled, and he really didn't deserve her. "That's because it's often used in baby showers. It represents purity and innocence. It's also a symbol of ever-lasting love, which makes it perfect for weddings..."
NNY dropped the baby's breath, and now it landed on the floor next to his knife.
Wedding? Fuck...
His heart thumped, and then the air thinned as he imagined marrying Jenny one day and having her babies.
Shit, shit, and more shit.
"Also, baby's breath is so pretty..."
She sighed, picking up the baby's breath off the floor. She grabbed his knife too, passing it to him. "Here you go."
NNY took the knife, and his heart stopped beating the moment their fingers brushed.
Honestly, when he thought about all that marriage and baby stuff. he wasn't that afraid.
Did he want to spend his life with her?
"Th-thanks..." he muttered.
She returned to her bouquet, and he wanted so badly to kiss her again. He cast his eyes over her long, pink hair, loving how it sloped elegantly behind her back.
Then he took note of the way her lips curved at the corners whenever she smiled, revealing precious dimples...
Simply put, he would do anything for her. He would spill the blood of every man, woman, and kola if it so much as kept her safe.
She was his to cherish, his to protect, and no one will ever hurt her again.
The door jingled, and NNY sprang into action. He yanked out his knives, holding them in the shape of an X in front of his chest.
"Oh my... should I come back another time?" an old, weathered voice said from miles away, and they may as well be speaking from the other end of a tunnel.
All NNY could hear was his own pulse.
Someone placed a soft hand on his shoulder, bringing him back from the darkness, and he blinked in surprise.
He met Jenny's kind smile, peering over the counter to where an old lady waited.
She watched NNY with cautious eyes. So he dropped his knives, using his sleeve to wipe his forehead.
He was drenched in sweat.
"I'm so sorry, ma'am," Jenny apologised. "My friend is just feeling a little nervous. It's his first day working at the shop."
The old lady regarded NNY kindly now. "Oh, I'm sure you will get the hang of it soon, sonny."
NNY glanced down at his knives. He'd almost slaughtered a sweet old lady. He was probably taking his job as Jenny's new protector a little too seriously.
His hands were shaking.
"Y-yeah... I... I think I'll sit for a while..."
NNY sat back on the stool, and now he watched as Jenny helped the elderly customer. Once she finished serving her a bouquet, she came back around the counter, placing a hand on his shoulder.
He looked up into her eyes, and the breath left his lungs at their sheer blueness.
It was like gazing into the ocean...
"Are you feeling better, NNY?"
He shut his eyes, heaving a breath. "I am now. I just... got a little jumpy for a moment. It seems I'm taking my role as your bodyguard a little too seriously..."
A nervous laugh escaped him, and he hoped she understood that his heart was in the right place.
Jenny's cheeks pushed up, revealing her cute dimples, and he melted at the sight of them.
He would move mountains for her...
"That's okay, NNY. I'm flattered. It just proves how much you truly care about me."
She leaned down to peck him on the cheek. NNY felt her breath against his face, and he almost forgot how to breathe.
Jenny stroked her finger down his cheek, and a shiver rushed down his spine.
"Your cheek is so soft..." she whispered.
NNY swallowed. "Thanks... It must be the moisturizer..."
Seriously. Why even bother talking?
"And your lips are just as soft too. You have really good lips, NNY..."
No, he didn't. They were thin and chapped, and he needed to buy himself a new chapstick sometime.
The last one dropped down the toilet.
She moved her finger over his lips, stunning him into silence.
When was the last time he just let someone touch his face like this? If anyone had ever dared to be so bold, then he would have chopped their fingers off.
Her finger stopped along the curve of his top lip, and it was like she was drawing a pattern around his mouth.
His lips tingled from her touch, and he swallowed once again.
She really was close...
Jenny wouldn't stop staring at his lips, and now all he could hear was his heartbeat.
If only he was tied to a chair...
The image aroused him, and that was when she peered down coyly at his pants. Her pupils bloomed, and then she bit her lip.
Ah, fuck.
NNY had no idea how it happened. One moment, they were staring at each other, and then the next they were going at it like rabbits.
Jenny straddled his hips as NNY wrapped his arms around her neck, curling his fingers through her cotton candy hair.
She bit his lip, and he growled, throwing her down on the counter. They knocked off several vases, yet neither of them stopped, kissing each other like it was their last day on earth.
NNY kissed a path down her neck as she gasped, tossing her head back. Her hair hung over the side of the counter, leaving her throat bare.
So he sucked on her pulse, making her squeak, and the sound spurred him on. He licked her clavicle, loving the way his spit left a shine on her porcelain skin.
She tasted fucking amazing.
"Wait..." she breathed, placing a finger to his lips when he leaned in for another kiss.
He raised a brow.
"I have to flip the sign to 'closed'."
NNY glanced up, wincing when he spied those people walking past on the street.
They couldn't do it with everyone watching.
Jenny jumped down off the counter, rushing to the door so she could slip the sign to 'closed'.
When she returned, NNY lifted her up onto the counter, joining her side. He pointed at the window his thumb. "Should we go somewhere more private?"
She followed the direction of his thumb, and an adorable blush tinted her cheeks. "Yes... let's go out back. We can do it in the greenhouse..."
NNY grinned. "Neat."
He hadn't had sex in a greenhouse before...
She jumped off the counter, dragging him towards the greenhouse. Heavy metal was playing on the radio once they rushed inside, and NNY recalled the first time they met.
Jenny had been behind him in line at the CD Cesspool, and even then he could sense the crazy dripping off of her.
"So... did the flowers like Nine Inch Heels?"
She laughed. "Yeah. Flowers aren't picky, remember? They'll listen to anything..."
NNY chuckled, and he was falling hard for this girl. But he had to ensure he didn't fall too hard...
He may never get back up again.
But he knew Jenny would never hurt him...
NNY could trust her.
"So, you remember that day like it was yesterday too, huh—?"
He didn't get to finish as she threw herself at his lips, pushing him against the glass wall. His head spun in circles as angry metal played in the background.
NNY gripped a handful of her candy-floss hair, lifting her face so she was looking right at him, and now he met his manic reflection inside her big blue eyes.
"You're sure about this path? I can't say I can vouch for your safety again. The last time was just a fluke. I'm a freaking serial killer, Jenny. I could kill you..."
Her pupils dilated, and then her lips parted as she blew out a soft breath. "I've never been surer of anything in my life."
His psychotic smile stretched, and he was losing his grip on reality again.
But when did NNY ever have a firm grip?
"Me too..." he said.
He tucked his hands beneath her knees, laying her down on the table in the middle of the room. Then he lifted her dress, unzipped his pants, and set his cock free.
He was already weeping, and he couldn't wait to be inside her again.
NNY aligned himself above her, pressing his weeping head against her warm pussy. She sighed when she felt his heat, relaxing beneath his gentle touch, and NNY grinned.
He was going to fuck her until she was screaming his name...
NNY pushed his way inside her, and she was so unbelievably wet for him. Yet she was still pretty tight, and he had to ensure that he didn't hurt her too much.
Soon they were joined at the hips, and she fit so perfectly around him. Jenny was the perfect sheath for his knife, and it was as if her pussy was made for his dick.
He couldn't wait to push her over the edge.
NNY dragged himself back out of her, and when he was sure she was ready, he thrust back in, making her moan in deep pleasure.
He could tell she was putting on a show for her flowers, and he wondered if they were talking to her right now as he fucked her.
Were they cheering her on?
Well, if that were the case...
He flipped her around, and now she gazed down at him in shock. His dick stretched inside her, and she gasped, digging her nails into his shoulders.
He wanted those claws raking down his chest...
The look of awe on her sweet face was enough to make him come.
He couldn't wait to be fucked by her.
She started rolling her hips, pushing along his hardened length, and NNY's eyes rolled into his skull.
White spots danced in his peripheral vision as she brought him to a climax, and it looked as if she was going to ride him over the edge.
Warmth spread through his body, melting away the ice of his soul.
NNY never wanted to be cold ever again; Jenny was like the missing piece of a puzzle that he'd been searching for his whole life.
He could feel it with each electric thrust of her hips. It was like she was bringing him back to life, re-starting his heart again, and how had he ever so much as breathed without her?
He could feel their souls entwining the harder she thrust, and he was definitely flying over the stars now.
She pushed back and forth, riding him over the stars, and he was losing his mind.
The tension built to epic proportions, and NNY was convinced he was going to explode.
It hit him out of nowhere. His body tightened. Then his hips stuttered as he gripped her hips, digging his nails deep into her soft flesh as he emptied his cock inside her.
Jenny followed his lead, raking her nails down his chest as her own climax shook her. She squeezed his dick, locking him in place, and NNY came yet again.
He opened his eyes, and he swore he was being fucked by an angel.
At that moment, she shone like a star as she came over and over, and what did he do to deserve her?
NNY definitely hadn't done anything to be proud of, yet he had her... she was his.
His heart couldn't take it anymore. It had only just started beating again after all because of her.
To hell with just liking her...
NNY was in love with this woman.
How dare he ever feel anything less for her...
"Jenny, I... I love you..."
The words left his mouth before he could stop himself, and now his pulse pounded for a different reason.
He just bared his entire soul for another human being, and he had never felt so vulnerable.
People had only ever hurt him, but he couldn't help himself. She just looked and felt so amazing.
It must be the endorphins talking. NNY may come back to his senses later once the hormones left his system, but right now, he was going to enjoy his happiness.
Happiness was fleeting, after all, and NNY was going to make the most of it.
Jenny stopped, peering down at him through hooded eyes.
He swallowed. This was it. The moment of truth.
Would she break his heart or accept it?
He may as well have just cut his chest open, letting her see the helpless, beating organ for herself.
Shit. Why wouldn't she answer him?
Her eyes widened. Then their noses brushed as she leaned closer, tickling his face with her hair.
Her bright blue eyes were inches away now, and they really were polar opposites.
Whereas Jenny's eyes were as clear as the sky on a warm summer's day, NNY's were as dark as the night.
Light and dark. Day and night.
Yin and Yang.
"You... you what?" she whispered, searching his eyes.
NNY sucked in a deep breath. "I... love you, Jenny..."
Twice. Twice he had exposed his heart to her. He may as well have just cut it out of his chest and placed it in her hand.
He hoped she didn't squeeze too hard. That organ was tender after all.
Something strange came over her next. Tears pooled in her eyes, dripping onto his face, and he started at her aghast.
Had he made her cry? That had not been his intention.
Yet they were tears of joy as she sniffed, planting a kiss on his lips. "I love you too."
NNY's eyes popped from his sockets. She didn't reject him... she loved him too.
Now he could die happy.
His mouth twitched into a strange shape, and it took him a moment to realise he was smiling.
NNY was happy.
The conclusion he needed all along.
Jenny finally pulled herself free. Then she curled up beside him, burying her face into the crook of his neck.
NNY cocooned her with his body, keeping her safe from the world outside her greenhouse.
He would hold on to her forever.
A/N: I wish I could tell you it ended here. But there is heartache to come 😭
At least NNY could find some small bit of happiness before everything goes to shit...
