"Be My Eyes"
I lay there, listening to Katara describe something to me. The scenery around us, I think. She's describing it so well that I can see it in my mind's eye. The colors blending together in a array of different patterns, the river flowing along the bank, on its own path.
Even though I didn't see like everyone else, I didn't let it get me down most of the time. I used it to my ability and advantage, rather than letting it become my disadvantage. But there was still that longing in my heart to see like everyone else, if only for just one day. But for now, I would settle for what I could get. And that was the fact that no matter what happened, I could count on Katara to be my eyes. She would describe things for me that I couldn't' see and I knew her descriptions were accurate. She helped me see in ways that nobody else could. I was grateful to her for all she did for me and as long as Katara was willing to be my eyes, I would never miss out on anything again.
Every time we would stop in a town or village, Katara would take great care to describe everything to me, making sure that she described everything from the trees to the flowers that surrounded us. And for that, I was grateful for Katara's kindness and willingness to help out. And for just one moment, during the time that Katara was describing the scenery around us, I didn't feel left out anymore. If anything, I felt the total opposite. I felt more included than I ever did back home. And it was all thanks to Katara.
THE END
