Haruka
Kai gazed into the eyes of the woman. She knew who he was. She was beyond his league. And she wasn't even looking at him directly. She just right out stared at his forehead all the while tilting her head slightly upwards. She was confident and intimidating.
Never in his life before Kai felt so intimidated by someone. And again he asked himself who she was. And also… Why did she save him in the first place? He opened to ask her these questions, however, she raised a hand and turned her body slightly.
"You should start with thanking me. I saved your worthless life." she insulted him.
"I already thanked you." he retorted. "But, okay. Thank you for saving my life."
"Not enough. But then again, what can I expect from a worm who believed is superior just because it has a Kekkei Genkai?" she questioned.
He was getting irritated by her behavior and his comparison to insects. He shouldn't. Kai took a deep breath. Some patients were unfriendly and didn't want his help. This was practically the same situation. Although he owned the one his life.
"Anyway. I'll bring you back to your friend." she said.
"Wait. Please, wait." he stopped her.
"What? I don't have time for your presence. The sun will rise soon and I want to train." she replied.
"Please tell me your name." he asked her friendly.
"I don't have one."
What? She had no name? This must be a joke. Everyone had a name. It was the most natural thing for a human being to have a name. But she didn't? Was she raised by a wolf or something?
"But… For my current mission, my name is Haruka." she introduced herself.
This was getting even stranger. Who talked like that? For this mission her name was Haruka… He found this name actually quite fitting. Haruka could be written with the letter of distant. And she was really distant and somewhat hostile.
"It's nice to meet you, Haruka-san." Kai replied. "My name is-"
"Fuma Kai. Raised in Iwagakure, an enemy of Konohagakure, but born in the latter village as the son of a member of the Uchiha clan. Set free for adoption for unknown reasons. I'm well aware who you are." Haruka-san said.
"How?" he asked her.
"I always get information of my future teammates. In your case, potentially future teammate. You haven't decided yet. As for your skills… They are lacking. Your skills don't even compare to the worst genins. In your place, I would decline the job and get back where I come from."
"How do you know that I'm an- No." he interrupted himself. "You saw me how I used my Sharingan."
"Exactly."
"But wait… The waitress… She was an Uchiha as well… How do these guys know that we are Uchihas?"
"Enough talking." she decided and started moving again.
Kai followed her silently. He just stared at her back. He kind of wondered though… Was she an Uchiha as well? How many hidden Uchihas actually were living in Konoha? And how many of them did know about their heritage? Probably not everyone…
Haruka-san turned a corner before they landed on a public street again. Although, it was not one of the best locations… Considering that… Well… They were now entering a street where shops with women and men offered their bodies to others for money. This was totally unexpected. And this was also another hit to his pride.
"Let's get moving." Haruka-san simply said.
Kai hung his head in defeat. This day was already the worst one in his life. So why not ending up in such a part of the village. The only thing that could be worst was-
"Yo, Kai-kun!" Yuma-san shouted from across the street waving at him and drawing several stares.
Meeting of course Yuma-san in such a location. His pride was now below zero. With Yuma's attitude it could only mean one thing… He was going to conclude some things which were totally not true in the slightest. And seeing that Haruka was honestly quite attractive… (although her bust could be bigger for his taste). His new friend was concluding that he was taking a prostitute to Kiyoshi-san's house.
"Oh? Who is she?" Yuma-san asked walking towards them.
"What are you doing here?" Kai questioned him in return.
"Well… It's a good day for me… And I wanted to celebrate that with going out with my favorite one. Unfortunately, she is already going out with someone else today." he replied smiling. "But I can manage. Someone like me is quite popular among the nice girls here."
"I didn't even want to know that. Thank you, Yuma-san." Kai sighed.
"You're welcome. And we are friends! You would have found out sooner or later anyway." he replied shrugging his shoulders. "And now, introduce me to this lovely lady."
"My name is Haruka. You're Tsuki Yuma, currently 25 years old, ninja-rank: Jonin, birthdate: 19th October, height: 180 cm, weight: 68.9 kg, blood type: A." Haruka listed. "You came to the village six years ago with your grandfather Tsuki Kiyoshi. He is currently 72 years old, retired but highest ninja-rank: Jonin, birthdate: 4th January, Height: 169 cm, weight: 51.3 kg, blood type: A."
"Uh… Okay? You're weird." Yuma-san stated intervening his hands behind his head.
"I'm well informed of those who I'm going to work with."
"And why do you know so much about Ojiisan?" he asked her.
"I also inform myself on the family of my future teammates."
"That's even weirder. But okay… I'll let that slide, Haruka-chan, because you're cute. And it is a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine, Yuma. But drop the chan."
"But how do I call you now?"
"Just Haruka."
"Alright, Just Haruka."
He reached his hand out towards her and petted her head. She just let it happen. Kai was a little bit jealous because Haruka-san showed no hostility towards Yuma. Was it because she recognized him as a powerful shinobi? Yes… That was most likely the case.
"Alright. We should now head to your home." Haruka-san interrupted Kai's thoughts. "I would like to discuss certain things about this murder series. In privacy…" she added as an afterthought before walking in a particular direction.
Both Kai and Yuma-san looked at each other with the latter shrugging his shoulders and muttering that she was weird. But the psychologist assumed that his new friend didn't care. But he did care. He actually wanted to know why Haruka was the way she was. It was part of his job as a psychologist. Kai was interested in her psychological condition. And he was going to find out what was wrong with her.
Kai looked at Kiyoshi-san who looked at Haruka-san. She, on the other hand, looked at Yuma-san who looked back at Kai. The psychologist sighed. Well, they were sitting here for about ten minutes now without a word being said. While he considered himself to be a patient person, it was agonizing that nothing happened at all. Ten minutes of silence except for drinking tea and the occasional mumbling from Kiyoshi-san who found the silence quite uncomfortable. That was also why, he eventually sighed as well and opened his mouth to speak:
"So… Tell us, Haruka-san. How much do you know about this murder series?"
"I did my research and I found out that every victim is related to the Uchiha clan." Haruka-san answered putting her hands on her lap.
"So, the reason they attack is to steal our eyes, correct?" Yuma-san assumed.
"However, most of them don't possess the Sharingan." the kunoichi continued.
"Then there must be another reason." Kai concluded. "Maybe they want to prevent a new Uchiha clan?"
"Then why don't go directly to the flame?" Yuma-san questioned. "Before you ask, Kai-kun… It's a saying in the Land of Fire. It means that you should go directly to the source of the problem."
"Can we please continue? So, why not go directly to the flame? In which case, Uchiha Sasuke? I mean… Uchiha Sasuke is officially the sole survivor of the Uchiha clan… If he dies then the clan would be completely wiped out. At least officially." the psychologist said.
"He is a criminal meaning that he is currently locked up in a high security prison." Haruka-san explained. "They can't murder him… For better or worse." she added purposely and quietly.
But nonetheless, it was heard by everyone. Kai couldn't blame her, though. Uchiha Sasuke was a dangerous and emotional instable man who tried murdering every living Kage at a conference. Back in Iwagakure he had heard about rumors when Sasuke had attacked the Five Kage Summit causing one of the Kages to lose their life and another one lost their arm. And Tsuchikage-sama had severe back aches for several days. That old man certainly should step down from his position. He was, what, already 79 years old. Maybe his granddaughter should take over Iwagakure.
Back to the topic… There was one lingering question Kai had.
"How do these guys actually know that their victims are Uchihas?" he asked in the round.
A silence occurred. Yuma-san fidgeted on his pillow clenching and unclenching his fists. Kiyoshi-san wasn't any better. He bit his lower lip and closed his eye. Kai gazed down at the table gritting his teeth. Only Haruka-san didn't show any signs of discomfort. So, she must know something. The psychologist raised his gaze towards her questioning her with his eyes. The kunoichi seemed to notice this as she held his gaze.
"They know…" she spoke up. "Because, and I must say this is only my guess, they have developed a jutsu that identifies people with Uchiha blood."
"Meaning that everyone who has an Uchiha as an ancestor is in danger." Kiyoshi-san concluded. "I guess most of them don't even know and then they are killed, they don't even know why. Those murders are cowards." he spat hatefully.
"As for the jutsu itself… I think they can identify us because of our chakra surrounding us." Haruka-san continued.
"Our chakra?" Kai questioned. "That would mean you are also an Uchiha."
"I am. But that is not the point here." she replied coldly. "The point is-"
"Kai-san … I should probably explain this to you before more questions arise." Kiyoshi-san interrupted her. "Every Uchiha has naturally chakra surrounding them like a cage. This cage of chakra cannot be seen under any circumstances except for one."
"When the one uses Susanoo, one of the three best jutsus of the clan." Yuma-san added.
"Then an Uchiha uses Susanoo, they manifest the chakra surrounding them into a psychical form which is the ultimate defense. However…" the old man trailed off closing his eye and Kai got the feeling that there was a bloody way to achieve this ultimate defense.
"And they use the chakra surrounding us as an identifier." Haruka-san finished.
"But what about those humans who are not Uchihas and have chakra naturally surrounding them?" Kai asked. "I mean… It can happen, right?"
"Then the one is very unlucky." the kunoichi stated.
"No, it can't. The chakra surrounding an Uchiha is an identifier. No one else could have this trait." Kiyoshi-san corrected her. "But there is one question which kept me lingering… Was this jutsu we are talking about developed only recently or was it developed during the time of the Warring States Period? My thought process is that the Uchiha's could have been infiltrating other clans and destroy them from the inside in the mentioned period. Such a jutsu would have been perfect to identify an Uchiha, especially in such a time."
"You know about this jutsu, don't you Ojiisan?" Yuma-san assumed.
"Yes, I do. My senpai, Uchiha Takumi-senpai, was the son of him. He had told me about this jutsu. While the name is unknown… He called it Uchiha Tokutei Suru no Jutsu. It was a particular nasty jutsu which costed some of the clan's best men their lives. To think this jutsu is now used to kill innocents who don't even know why they are killed."
"The question is, however… Who wants us dead… and why?" Kai asked.
Yuma-san gazed at him from the corner of his left eye before turning his gaze to his grandfather. Kai noticed this and looked at Kiyoshi-san in question. It seemed they knew more. Did they already have a guess as to why they want them dead? And that irritated him. He wanted to have answers! It would help him with this murder series!
"I want to know why someone wants us dead!" Kai shouted angrily, standing up and slamming his palms onto the table. "It can't be just because they want to steal our eyes! There must be another reason! No one acts because they just decided to. There is always a reason behind actions!"
Author's note:
Uchiha Tokutei Suru no Jutsu: means translated: Identify Uchiha no Jutsu. Lame name, I know. And I totally make up this jutsu.
As for Haruka's theme… I think Chance meeting with myself from Tales of Berseria is perfect for her. It has such a sad undertone and still something mysterious about it. It was actually really hard to pick a theme for her as I wanted the theme to sound sad and at the same time mysterious.
And here is Haruka's Artwork. Der pin for pinterest is pin/641833384414848898/. Her design has actually quite the funny story. Then I downloaded Naruto to Boruto – Shinobi Striker, I was so happy to create an individual character. Most of her clothing is heavily inspired by Temari's upper half of clothing and Sakura's lower half of clothing. Her hair is directly taken from Nii Yugito because I really like low ponytails (besides it was the first hair style I bought in this game).
