Chapter Nine: Healing
Scorpio Milo's Point of View
By: Lady Mochizuki
I'm sitting here in the hospital room watching and holding the hand of my young maid Swan, who had slipped into a coma due to her ex-husband beating her half to death a month ago.
Sighs.
It all started three years ago when Lady Athena brought us back to life and hired us each a maid to help us with cleaning and cooking. I drove away seven maids with how messy I could be. But the eighth maid, Swan, wasn't turned off by how dirty I can be. Swan would arm herself with either a broom or a mop and chase me out of Scorpio, or she would grab my ear and make me help her clean up Scorpio. The cheek of this girl. I admired Swan's boldness compared to the other maids I had thus far.
I smiled broadly in thought.
Swan has worked for me for two years and three months. I started noticing bruises on her arms and legs. I even once saw wilts on her back. The last straw was the black eye and cut lip a month ago. I started worrying about Swan and her well-being. I went to my friends Camus, Aiolia, and Kanon for help. We all agreed to follow Swan home and get as close to a window or a door as possible to see what was going on.
Sighs.
Swan wished me goodbye at sunset, and she'll see me before dawn. I just nodded as I always did. I never dreamt of what would happen next. Of course, Camus and the others had gotten some information out of their maids, Rhea (Kanon), Liberty (Aiolia), and Harmony (Camus), about Swan. It was worse than I thought. Swan had been forced to marry a bastard named Philp at the tender age of sixteen, and the bastard beats Swan.
I cracked my knuckles in anger.
I didn't wait for Pope Saga ( Saga is the Pope and Kanon is the Gemini Saint) to permit us to leave Sanctuary. I followed Swan to the edge of Athens to what looked like a hole in the ground. My Swan was living like this pissed me off as I crept closer. I saw Camus from the north, Kanon from the west, Pope Saga from the east, and Aiolia on the roof, lying down as if listening.
"Milo, he's beating. I just heard her scream."
I didn't even wait for him to finish that sentence because I was through the window with the others close by. I saw Swan lying on the dirt floor with blood coming out of her nose, her mouth, and her ears. Camus picked Swan up and rushed out while I turned to Philip with cold murderous eyes, but Kanon grabbed my arm and shook his head,
"Let's do this right and put this pig away where he belongs. I understand why you want to kill this son of a bitch for hurting Swan, but think what Lady Athena would say if she knew you took a human life?"
I stopped my advance, but I did knock the fucker out just for Swan's sake. I just walked away shaking with rage as I followed Camus's frozen flower ice crystals to a nearby hospital while Pope Saga and Aiolia waited for the police.
My poor Swan is in a coma as a result of a beating.
Lady Athena, aka Saori Kido, filed on behalf of Swan for a divorce and had legal action against Philip. I stayed close to Swan. I would hold her hand, read to or talk with her. Of course, some others would come with food and a book or two or offer to sit with Swan while I shower or sleep. Please, Swan, open your eyes.
Sighs.
Camus walks in and pulls a chair beside me, and says in a calm voice,
"Milo, you've fallen in love with Swan, haven't you?"
I looked shocked as I just stared at my best friend, and then I realized I had fallen in love with Swan without even knowing it. Camus smiled knowingly and whispered,
"You should tell her so."
With that, he walked out of the hospital room smiling.
I gave her a chaste kiss and whispered in her ear,
"I love you, my beautiful Swan; please return to me."
I fell asleep around midnight.
-Dreamscape-
I knew my friends moved all of Swan's belongings into the extra room in Scorpio, and I dreamt of Swan chasing me with the broom or mop as she usually did and then cornering me with the cutest smile.
"Master, wake up; you're heavy."
My head shot up as I looked over at Swan, who was smiling. I smiled back and kissed her forehead, and went to get the doctor.
Within a week, Swan was back in Scorpio, living with me. I had given her the extra room, and I wondered if she even heard my confession because she did the usual work and would go into her room shortly after dinner.
This cat-and-mouse dance lasted for two months until I decided to take action. I waited until she had done her work. I cornered Swan in the kitchen, boldly pressed her up against the wall, and gently ground my hips against her.
A soft moan escaped her lips.
"Milo, what are you doing?"
I kissed her lips softly and whispered in her ear,
"Seducing the woman I love now, shut up so I can finish.
Let's say things got a little hot and steamy.
No one saw Swan or me for a few days, but I suspect Camus knew; my best friend always knew.
