Ka-click, ka-click, ka-click, ka-click...
Riza Hawkeye tried to concentrate on her paperwork, but the horrible clicking sound made her twitch. The office was so quiet, but her subordinate, the ever-so-annoying Roy Mustang, was too busy entertaining himself by clicking the pen instead of using it to sign paperwork.
Ka-click, ka-click...
Riza sighed quietly, and finally spoke,
"Colonel?"
"Hm?" Roy's distant gaze returned to the present, and his eyes focused on her, "What is it, Lieutenant?"
"Can you please stop clicking that pen? I apologize, sir, but it's distracting."
Roy's clicking stopped, and he placed the pen on his desk. Riza began writing the paperwork again, a bit relieved that there was peace and quiet.
Ba-thump, ba-thump, ba-thump...
Riza shut her eyes in annoyance and bit her lower lip. The Colonel had apparently gotten so bored that he managed to start drumming his fingers on his desk.
"Colonel." Riza tried to keep her voice steady, "Will you stop that please?"
Roy stopped. Riza tried to sign her name on the next paperwork until...
Thump, thump, thump, thump...
Now Roy was drumming his foot on the floor. Riza finally snapped.
She took out her gun, clicked it, and pointed it at him, "Colonel," she finally spoke, "will you please...stop...making any noise and do your work?"
Roy sighed and finally started signing his paperwork again. As Riza put away her gun, Roy smirked and started clicking his pen again, just to annoy her and see that fiesty attitude he always liked about her.
(sigh) My first--and last--Royai. Don't get me wrong, I support this couple one hundred and ten percent, but I'm never going to write any other fics about them until I've grown more experienced. It's difficult to keep Roy and Riza in character, so I'll stick with just this single one-shot.
