Author's note: I own nothing.
Had you seen it but once you would never forget.
As the snow fell in autumn that year,
His back to the future, his face to the past,
And his eyes were so cold and so clear.
I observed from a distance his casual stance,
And his hair as the wind tossed it hither and gone,
How his mouth seemed so smirk where a smile dared appear,
As the snow fell in autumn that year…
...And a beauty was there that was not hard to find,
Though his features were hard they were finely defined,
And the scent of his power was pungent in the air,
As he watched a cold world through his own frosty glare.
Then he turned, silhouetted in front of the sun,
And he stretched out his hand as he mouthed to me "come…"
I was enraptured; let him draw me near…
As the snow fell in autumn that year.
But the snow has fallen many times since that day,
And it falls on me now bringing stinging cold.
My hopes for the future he promised decay.
...And I am old...
