Greg sat on the park bench, his legs crossed, headphones on and a pen and paper sitting in his lap. His foot tapped along incessantly to the noise seeping into his ears, didn't notice someone looking over his shoulder.

Catherine was driving past the park; she had Lindsey in the back seat with her friends Shelby next to her. Catherine looked into her rearview mirror at her daughter's voice.

"Mom, isn't that Greg?"

Catherine, having had to slow at a stop sign, looked over towards the park, sure enough, there was Greg.

"What is he doing?" mumbled Catherine, pulling up next to the curb. She turned around to face the two 13 year olds in the back seat. "You two mind delaying your homework and hanging out her for a bit?"

"Heck yeah," said both girls instantly. Catherine made her way out of the car and towards Greg.

"You're not looking for dates are you?" asked Catherine pulling off his headphone and making Greg jump.

"Naw, I go to the high school football games for that Cath," Catherine grinned back at him, leaning her arms on him shoulders and her cheek against his, looking at what her was working on.

"'Molecular Biology'?" said Catherine reading the fist line of a very long essay in Greg's hands.

"Ecklie volunteered m to speak about DNA to future science dorks in Phoenix, Arizona," Catherine raised an eyebrow, leaning back some until she could look him in the eye, making them nose to nose.

Catherine's heart sped up.

"You know it's like 100° there in the winter right?" Greg chuckled.

"Uncle Greg! Uncle Greg! Watch me go down the slide!" a small voice interrupted them, an the two looked over to see a 5 year old with bright red plaited hair, slide head first down one of the tube slides.

"Didn't picture you as a guy with kids Greg," said Catherine, remembering when Lindsay was that young.

Greg grinned at Catherine as she made her way around to sit next to him.

"Her names Emily and she's my brother's kid. He's in Boston, going to his wife's great aunt's funeral. Asked me to watch her, told me he'd poison my coffee if I didn't."

"Let's say you agreed without the threat then," said Catherine chuckling.

"So Cath, what brings you, Lindsey and that chick she's hangin' with to the park, did you see me and feel the need to investigate?"

"Yup."

"Damn I'm good."

Lindsey and Shelby suddenly bolted past Greg and Catherine.

"Look's like their playing tag," said Greg, squinting to see a flash of red on the tier swing. Catherine nodded in agreement. Greg leaned his head back, shutting his eyes and sighing.

"Long shift?" Greg smirked, eyes remaining closed.

"You did say 'shift' right?" Catherine whacked him in the chest with the back of her hand, giggling.

Greg groaned and yawned at the same time, leaning his head against Catherine's shoulder. Cath warped and arm around Greg, unintentionally breathing I the smell of his shampoo and after shave.

Catherine's heart skipped.

Running her fingers threw Greg's hair; she felt his breathing speed up against her neck.

Turning her head, Catharine and Greg paused, nose to nose.

Greg acted fist, brushed his lips against her own before pressing his mouth full onto hers.

After a moment, both simultaneously pulled away, brown eyes locked on blue ones.

"Well," said Catherine breathlessly, brushing the hair out of Greg's eyes gently. "I might have to come to the park more often."

Greg leaned in again, wrapping his arm around Catharine's waist, bringing her closer.

"Mom, what the hell are you doing?"
