Chapter One

"Dad! I can't find my cell!" thirteen year old Tara Nickelson yelled jumping down the stairs two at a time. "Well go and look for it!" Her father James Nickelson hollered back. "I already did! I'm not stupid!" Just then the doorbell rang. "Can you get that Tara?" Tara turned around and opened the door only to find a girl with dirty blonde hair and a little black and tan cocker spaniel. "I think you left this at my house." The girl said. "Oh my god Caryl! Thank you so much! I was going crazy looking for it!" "Your welcome. So when does the van get here?" Tara's face fell. "In about an hour. Wanna come in?" "Can't. I have Spaz with me. I have to take him for a walk. You can come if you want." Caryl replied sadly. "I'll ask. Best daddy in the world… Can I go for a walk with Caryl and Spaz?" "Cut the crap Tara. BE back in about 15 minutes or I'm leaving without you." "OK! See you in about 5 years then!" "Haha. Tara, don't fool around. I'll see you in about 15 minutes or your grounded." "Ok. Bye daddy-o! See ya!"

Meanwhile…

"What team?" "Wild cats!" "Hey guys! Stop goofing around and get your head in the game! Now!" coach Jack Bolton yelled from the corner of the gym he was standing in. We need to get in shape for the big game next… where's Troy?" "Practice." Troy's best friend Chad replied quietly. He knew that the coach still hadn't gotten use to the idea of Troy being in the musical. "I'll be right back." The coach had gone to get Troy and then all of the team started goofing around/ Just then the coach walked back in. "While I'm gone I want all of you running laps! Now!"

In the Auditorium

"Mr. Bolton! If you don't stop fooling around then I'm going to cut this scene out of the musical! Now Ms. Montez, from the top!"

"We don't have to try
To think the same thoughts
We just have a way
Of knowing everything's gonna be ok!"

"Excuse me Ms. Darbus but I do believe that Troy has basketball practice! NOW!" Coach Bolton walked in angrily. "Dad! I told you I had rehearsal today and that I wouldn't make it to practice! Now if you don't mind I think you just interrupted Gabriella while she was in the middle of her song!" Troy said angrier than his dad. "Troy if you miss practice one more time because of this… this... TWINKLE TOWN THING! I swear I will pull you out of it so fast your head will spin! Do you hear me?" "Dad you can't do that! Mom thinks that I'm doing the right thing and if you do that to me I swear I'll drop out of the team! So make your choice. And I warn you if I'm going to miss practice so if you have a problem with that save it for home! Not here! Do you here me?" "Excuse me Troy but who is the adult here?" "Boys boys boys! Please stop or I think I'm going to get a migraine! Mr. Bolton…" both Bolton's turned their heads. "Coach Bolton…" Troy walked over to Gabbi and pulled out of the auditorium. "Mr. Bolton please don't get mad at Troy because of rehearsal. I was sick earlier in the week and we missed rehearsal so I scheduled one for today. I'm sorry if this was of inconvenience to you so if it makes you feel better you can have Troy after school for hockey…" "BASKETBALL!" "Basketball practice." Ms. Darbus said. She didn't want Troy kicked out of the drama club. He was the best singer they had. She didn't want him to quit basketball either because she knew he loved it. "Fine Darbus. Just if you see Troy be sure to tell him he's to go to the gym and not here after school." "good-bye Mr. Bolton." Ms. Darbus replied getting annoyed.
