"I... I love you."
Shikamaru's eyes widened at the now tender girl in front of him. Where was her spunk, her laughter? Her ferocity was gone, and now, before him was a side of her he had never seen.
"I don't know what to say."
Doe-like eyes looked at him, shining brightly from tears.
His eyes widened. "Please... don't cry. I... I can't stand to see people I care for cry." Shikamaru waved his arms frantically, not realizing what he had said.
The girl looked up, he expression hopeful. "Care... about?"
Stopping his gestures, Shikamaru nodded briefly. "Yeah, I guess so."
The girl, in question, jumped onto him, crashing them both onto the ground. Shikamaru was too shocked to do anything about it.
Her head was buried in his chest. "I don't care if it takes you forever to love me. I'm willing to try."
Shikamaru looked down at the cherry-blonde in his arms. "I'll try." For you.

Author's Note: Betcha were expecting Ino (( or Temari even! )), weren't ya? LoL! I had to put her. I might do another Shika fic when he's paired with a blonde. Who? I don't know. I write as I get inspiration. I hope you all like it. Reviews appreciated. : D
