If Only… If Only…
Stanley grasped his shovel tightly to shove it into the cold hard ground below him. It was 5:30 in the morning and it was still hot out.
Stanley was at Camp Green Lake. Every day they had to dig a five foot deep, five foot wide hole. The foot there was grotesque and tasted awful. The only shade was by the warden's cabin, two trees with a hammock in the middle.
The reader may be wondering, Why would anyone want to go to Camp Green Lake?
The camper did not have a choice. Camp Green Lake was a camp for bad boys, if you made a boy dig a hole every day in the hot sun, it will make him into a good boy. It was out in the middle of no where, in a desert in Texas.
Stanley was innocent of the crime he committed. He was found guilty for stealing Clyde Livingston's shoes, a famous base ball player.
As Stanley dug, the farmiliar sound of the water truck rung into his ears. It was now 11:42 AM and he was awfully thirsty. As Dr. Pendanski, his counsilor , filled his canteen he saw movement in a hole near beside the hole armpit (one of his fellow campers) was currently digging. He looked down into the hole and saw a lizard with eleven spots. It flung at Dr. Pendanski's face and dug it's claws into his sun burnt face. As it was about to bite the doctor, Stanley hit it with his shovel, but unfortunately, hit his counsilour and knocked him out cold. Almost exactly the time Stanley hit the lizard, about twenty yellow spotted lizards came out of the same hole, and terrorized the his campers.
As all the other members of D-tent (Stanley's tent) ran for cover, Zero tripped right into a hole. Four lizards jumped into the hole.
"ZERO!" screamed Stanley, running towards the hole Zero fell into. The lizards were about to make their move, when Mr. Sir shot down at the lizards with his shot gun. The lizards attacked Mr. Sir.
"Oh my Lord" sighed the warden, who stood unnoticeably behind the water truck. Mr. Sir managed to kill all of the lizards.
As Mr. Sir whined to the warden, Stanley went to check if Zero was okay. Zero lay there, his arm bleeding and his head in a pile of undug dirt.
WHAM! A hand pushed Stanley down into the same hole Zero was in.
"YOU SON OF A MULE! MY FACE IS SCARRED NOW!" shouted Dr. Pendanski at Stanley.
Stanley woke Zero up and they went back to camp. Stanley was badly hurt bur he smiled, he had just saved someone's life.
The end
