Disclaimer: I do not own Devil May Cry or Fairy Tail. I only own the OC Drake Redgrave.
The next morning, Drake walked into the Fairy Tail guild hall with a feeling of satisfaction and total relaxation. But then again. spending the night making it up to your girlfriend for putting yourself in danger will do that. Drake had made sure to make it up to Mirajane for going on the job to Galuna Island and left her feeling just as satisfied as he was.
Mira was still sleeping back at his place, so she'll probably not be in for another hour maybe, so Drake decided to go to the guild hall earlier than usual and make sure nobody, Cana more specifically, tries to steal the booze... again.
"Someone looks extremely happy this morning." Drake looked to see Fairy Tail's heaviest drinker herself sitting at the bar as usual, her legs crossed, a mug of booze in her hand. "Guess Mira wasn't hard on you, looks like you sure made it up to her."
"Shut up. Cana." Drake said with a roll of his eyes as he walked over and sat three stools away from her, placing Rebellion down beside him before leaning his back against the bar.
Cana, always the one to tease Drake, grinned as she lowered her mug. "You impaled her with your mighty sword?"
Drake sighed. "Cana, your sexual innuendo jokes got old six months after me and Mira started dating, so I'd quit right now before I sick Erza on you. She's standing right behind you anyway."
Cana whipped around and didn't see the armoured redhead, so she whipped back around and glared at the smirking Drake. "You are a fucking asshole."
"Takes one to know a bitch, bitch." Drake shrugged with a wide grin.
"Bastard." Cana muttered but her lips quirked in amusement at her and Drake's usual banter. The two do enjoy getting on each other's nerves and generally pissing each other off, though it does occasionally get out of hand and more heated.
Started happening not long after Drake and Mirajane started dating.
"How many barrels have you drunk this morning already?" Drake asked as he eyed the barrel of liquor beside her.
Cana chugged her drink, holding her hand up to show 'five'. Drake just rolled his eyes in response and shook his head. Only morning and already Cana's been through five barrels, she could put bars out of business with the way she drinks.
"Drunk bitch." Drake muttered.
"Asshole." Cana said, putting her legs on top of the barrel Drake had been looking at, crossing a leg over the other. She smirked as she noticed Drake's gaze flick away from the barrel as soon as she put her legs there. "You staring at my legs again, Drake? Keep it up and I might get the wrong idea. Whatever would Mirajane think?"
"That I could do better if I'm gonna be unfaithful to her." Drake replied dryly before he ducked under a glass thrown at him by the annoyed brunette.
"Twerp!"
"Drunk."
"Bastard."
"Brewery!"
"At least I can hold my drinks!"
"At least I can walk without stumbling... and I can hold my drinks, thank you very much. My healing factor doesn't let me get drunk at the normal amount. Which makes me wonder how you can drink that many."
"Because I'm just that damn good!"
"More like that damn fucked up."
"You wanna go?!"
"No thanks, who knows what you got from the last guy you fucked."
"Fuck you!"
"Mira already does that."
"Will you two shut the fuck up?!" Gray groaned as he entered the guildhall and saw Drake and Cana arguing as usual. "Jeez, keep shouting and you'll wake the whole town up."
"The bitch here started it." Drake gestured to Cana with his thumb.
"Ha! You started it, you white-haired punk!" Cana scoffed.
"Ouch, that hurts me, Cana, it's not like I've heard that before." Drake said sarcastically and with another roll of his eyes.
Gray just groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. Past experiences taught him to not get involved in this usual banter/arguing, it's mostly Erza that gets them to knock it off, but Erza's most likely still asleep at her place in Fairy Hills, and Gray just told them to shut up only for them to keep going so...
'It's too early for this shit.' Gray sighed and shook his head as he went to sit at a table, unaware of a certain lack of clothes.
But Drake and Cana noticed. "Gray, your clothes."
"HOW THE HELL DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!"
A while later, Drake was walking about around Magnolia and was listening to music to entertain himself. There was no demon hunting jobs up just now, and there was no other job that caught his attention. This is why he wants to open a Demon Hunting business so he can get calls right away.
So he decided to take a walk around the town to entertain himself, and annoying Cana doesn't bring that much entertainment. He strolled about and eventually ran into some sort of café. It was just a small café with a cute little red roof and a sign hanging over the door that said "Sunny Side Up's". It was a few blocks away from the bakery that Erza loved to get her strawberry cheesecakes from. The café had a few tables outside, so he took the liberty to step inside and the doorbell rang.
The lady as the waitress looked at Drake, noticing another customer walking into the café. She looked to be in her early twenties with brown eyes and brown hair in a bud. She turned towards Drake's direction to serve him, not even blinking at the sight of a teenager in a red coat with a large sword on his back.
"Hi, welcome to Sunny Side Up's. How may we help you?" She asked. Drake looked about inside and noticed that the place had quite a few people being served. This little café was generally known for its breakfast and lunch specials, so it's not like he was coming in for a special occasion or anything. Drake didn't feel like being inside with people, so he thought he would sit outside.
"I'll sit outside." Drake said. He then went out the door and the waitress followed. Drake took a left outside the café and sat at the closest table that was five feet away from the door. He sat idly and the waitress pulled out a piece of paper and a pen.
"What would you like to drink?" She politely asked. Drake wasn't feeling much of anything. The only thing he really drinks ever is water. Drake disliked beverages that weren't water. The only exceptions were lemonade, orange juice, milk (skim), and chocolate milk if possible. Seeing as they serve mainly coffee at this café, he would just have to resort to his usual.
"Just some water will be fine." He ordered. The waitress then went back inside and came out in less than thirty seconds with a glass full of water. Drake was shocked as to how fast she made the order. "Whoa. That was fast." He commented.
"We were trained to react fast to orders, especially since we're super busy around this time of day." She responded. Drake nodded in understanding of how much effort a waitress has to put into serving customers. "Alright, what would you like to order?" she asked.
Drake looked at the menu rather quickly. He just scoped the menu and found an omelet section. Drake didn't mind omelettes, it's one of his favourite breakfast foods.
"I think I'll have a Western Omelet with tomato, green peppers, cheese, mushroom, and ham." He ordered. The waitress took a few seconds to write that order down and nodded.
"Okay." She said. She then walked right back into the café to tend to the other customers inside. When she was out of sight, Drake immediately zoned out and listened to music.
While he zoned out, Lucy was walking nearby and noticed him so she walked over to see if he was okay. She noticed his eyes were shut and he was listening to music, so she gently nudged him, causing his eyes to open and look at her before taking his headphones off.
"Oh, hey Lucy." Drake smiled at the blonde bombshell.
"Hey Drake." Lucy smiled back. "You... sitting here alone?"
"Got nothing better to do, decided to get some breakfast at this nice café, plus I like sitting alone unless it's with Mira or another one of my friends at Fairy Tail. You wanan join me?" Drake offered.
"Um..." Lucy looked around as if thinking Mirajane will pop up out of nowhere and assume Lucy's trying to steal her man. "Sure."
"You're worried about Mirajane, aren't you?" Drake asked with amusement. "Worried about her finding out how comfortable you got sleeping beside me?"
"Shut up!" Lucy hissed at him, looking around. "Does she have super hearing?"
Drake snorted. "Lucy, she's not gonna pop up if you mentioned that you grinded her pelvis on me."
Lucy blushed at his words. "D-Do you have to be so blunt?"
"It's what happened, isn't it?" Drake pointed out before his order arrived. "You want something?"
"I'll have what he's having." Lucy said to the waitress who nodded and left. "Drake, I value my life! And I don't want it to end by the fury of a girlfriend who thinks I tried seducing her boyfriend."
"Hey, how do you think I feel?" Drake said. "I had you. a rather attractive girl in just shorts and a top on top of me. You don't think my hormonal male body's gonna have no reaction to that?"
Lucy groaned. "Can we talk about something else?"
"You're the one that's jumpy." Drake chuckled. "But don't worry, Mira doesn't know. And if they value their lives, Natsu, Gray and Happy won't mention it. I was just being a good friend and letting you sleep near me so you didn't have to deal with Natsu and Gray's competitive snores."
Lucy giggled at that. "It's like, even when asleep they try to outdo each other."
"You'll get used to it." Drake said with amusement. "It'll take time, but you'll get used to the craziness and madness that is Fairy Tail."
"Or the attraction of girls that comes with being the hottest guy in Fairy Tail?" Lucy asked with a smirk.
"You heard about that?" Drake shook his head knowing she was referring to him being called the 'number 1 hottest guy in Fairy Tail.' Word of advice, don't bring up fangirls around Mirajane... she gets pretty mad about it."
"I figured." Lucy said dryly. "So if I gawked at you or said a compliment..."
"She'd most likely scare you than try to skin you." Drake said with a shrug. "She wouldn't harm anybody in Fairy Tail unless they give her a reason to."
"Okay." Lucy said with some relief.
"Now, if you tried actually seducing me into bed with you, then all bets are off."
"WHAT?!" Lucy shrieked, her eyes wide.
Drake burst out laughing. "I'm kidding! Your face!"
Lucy scowled at him. "Asshole." She muttered but couldn't help the small smile of amusement. Drake may like to make fun of people or be an asshole to them, but he was a good guy.
'A very handsome guy... No, Lucy, stop it!' Lucy thought as her mind flashed back to Galuna Island, when she felt a certain appendage between Drake's legs against her the first night, and when they were shipwrecked on the beach. 'The man's got a girlfriend.'
Why did Drake have to be attractive?
And that's it for this chapter folks. Not much here, just trying to develop some feelings from Lucy, though the romantic feelings from Lucy won't begin until the Phantom Lord arc. Right now, Lucy thinks of Drake as a close friend who's very attractive and a bit of obvious lust is thrown in, but nothing romantic will start to develop until Phantom Lord comes a knocking on the door.
