"Elizabeth," He cried. They were cornered. Locked in one of the labs, the doors barely holding, as the Wraith tried to break through. No escape and no plan, only each other.
"I'm here." She replied, her arms seeking him out in the darkened room. They had watched from the control room as the Wraith swarmed over the gate room. They had emptied their weapons trying to stop them. They had dropped their guns and fled to the confines of the lab. The doors locked behind them, sealing their only escape.
"We have to set the self-destruct." John whispered. Elizabeth nodded against his chest. They moved to the console and John entered his code. "We are only going to have a few seconds." He looked down at her, his eyes betraying him. She saw his pain, pain that was reflected in her.
"I want you to know that I love you, and I always will. No matter what." John whispered into her ear, holding her tight.
"I love you too John. Forever." Elizabeth replied, as she looked up at him. He brought his lips down on hers. They treasured their last moments together.
The doors flew open and John started the self-destruct. Wraith ran inside. Counting down from five seconds, John's lips crashed down upon hers. She wrapped her arms around him so tightly, as they waited. Their hands met, their lips never parted. The last thing they saw, as white light erupted around them, was each other. Their last breath shared.
