Later on that night
Hospital room
Raven and Tanya haven't spoken a word to each other since they been back in the room. Tanya was only looking out for Raven's best interest. But Raven seems to have already made up her mind she wasn't having this baby without Devon. She wouldn't dare cheat him out of his child's birth.
Booker and Nia are on the couch playing games on their Nintendo switch.
Booker: No way Nia how did you do that! You're cheating!
Nia: Don't get mad because I'm better at it than you!
Booker: Cheater!
Nia: If I'm a cheater you're a sore loser. Besides how can I possibly cheat on a game system?
Booker: I don't know but you are! (Nia rolled her eyes)
Tanya: Hey you guys you have been sitting over there playing them games for long enough how about we go get some dinner.
Booker: You had me at dinner grandma!
Nia: Yeah I could go for some food!
Tanya: Raven... (Raven is sitting next to Devon)
Raven: Huh?
Tanya: Do you want some dinner?
Raven: Oh, no you guys go ahead I'm going to stay with D. Plus I need to check in with Nadine and Chelsea to see how the day went.
Tanya: Well okay we'll bring you something back.
Nia: Call...( Raven cuts her off)
Raven: Girl I know I will call you if anything happens with your dad. (They all laughed)
Tanya: Come on guys (they leave)
Raven: Well let me call Nadine.
Phone call
Nadine: Hello
Raven: Hay I was just checking on you and Chelsea how did the day go?
Nadine: It was super busy but other than that good. How is my brother?
Raven: Same nothing really new.
Nadine: Okay well Rae I hope you don't mind if I stay at the house tonight I'm so tired I don't feel like driving back down there to the hospital.
Raven: No my house is your house Nadine.
Nadine: Thanks call me if anything happens I don't care if you catch him wiggling his toes call me! (Raven busted out laughing)
Raven: Will do.
Nadine: Alright
Raven: Bye
(Call Ended)
Raven: I guess you really knew what you were doing when you invited her to come help. I can't lie I'm seeing her in a whole new light. And that's all because of you D. (Raven smiled) So I went to the doctor today for my check up and no I didn't miss the appointment. She wants to induce my labor. Which means in three more weeks our son will be here. Normally I would be all for that. You no I hate being pregnant. But I can't imagine giving birth without you by my side. Mom wants me to go through with it but I don't think I can do it. I just don't know what to do Devon. (She laid her head down on the side of the bed and started crying)
All of a sudden Raven felt something move. She raised up and saw Devon eyes were open.
Raven: OH MY GOD DEVON (Raven jumped up and hugged him) Devon oh my goodness!! I'm so glad your awake. (She looked at him but noticed something wasn't right with him) Devon what's wrong? (He tried to speak but couldn't) I'm going to get a doctor. (She turned to walk away but he grabbed her arm) Devon it's okay I'm just going to get a doctor I will be right back okay. (He let her go and she walked out to the hallway)
It wasn't long before Raven came back with Devon's doctor.
Doctor: Mr. Carter good to see you alert.
Raven: YEAH HIS EYES ARE OPEN BUT HE CAN'T TALK WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM? YOU SAID HE WOULD BE FINE WHEN HE WOKE UP.
Doctor: He will be but you have to understand he was in a very bad accident so he is going to be hurting in some places. He's going to be a little sore and bruised. But we've been treating that while he's been out of it. So right now he's still heavily sedated. I'm going to have the nurse give him something to help him rest. And when he wakes again he should be ready to talk. (The nurse walked over and put something in his IV and Devon slowly closed his eyes again) There you go Mr.Carter.
Raven: Did you have to put him back to sleep?
Doctor: It will be better for him to sleep it off. But don't worry he shouldn't be sleep long.
Raven: Okay fine
Doctor: It's really nothing to worry about once he wakes up he will be ready to talk. Now he may have some questions he may not remember what happened to him. So be ready for a lot of questions. I do expect him to have some very bad migraines so I'll send some medicine over for that.
Raven: Okay
Raven wasted no time calling everyone and letting them know what had just happen. Everyone rushed back to the hospital and waited the rest of the night for Devon to wake up. But soon everyone was sleep Booker and Nia are sleep on the couch. Tanya is sleep in the recliner in the corner. And Nadine is sleep in a chair lean up against the wall. Raven is sitting in the chair right next to Devon's bed laying her head on the side of his bed.
It was now going on 2:00 in the morning and Devon is starting to wake. This time he is completely aware what is going on. He lifts his hand and noticed that he's hooked up to a IV. And all of a sudden he gets this pounding in his head. He's very confused of how he got there. As he starts to raise up he notices his whole entire family all around him sleep. He decides out of all of them he'll wake Raven to see what the heck is going on. He tapped her on her shoulder and she partially woke up.
Raven: What can't you see I'm trying to sleep?
Devon: Rae...
Raven: WHAT IS IT DEVON!!!...(all of a sudden she realizing he's woke) Devon... am I dreaming?
Devon: Hay you (Tears started to fill Raven's eyes as she jumps in his arms) Ouch!
Raven: Oh I'm sorry I forgot they said you would be sore.
Devon: Rae what happened to me?
Raven: You don't remember anything?
Devon: No, what am I doing here and why does my head hurt so bad?
Raven: You know the night of the bad storm well you and your crew are in a bad car accident.
Devon: WHAT? IS EVERYONE OKAY?
Raven: I'm sorry baby the driver died instantly and the passenger died a couple days later.
Devon: A couple days later how long was I out of it?
Raven: 3 days
Devon: What!! God y'all must thought I was dead.
Raven: (smiling) No we all have faith that you come back to us. A matter of fact. Sorry about this but they have been worried sick about you. EVERYONE WAKE UP DEVON IS WOKE!!!
Nia: Huh Dad? OH MY GOD DADDY!!!!!! (Nia jumped in his arms and Booker followed right beside her)
Devon: Ouch!!!
Booker: Oh our bad dad! (Booker said getting off of him but Nia stayed with her face glued to his cheek) Nia let him go your hurting him!! (But Nia didn't let go she started crying)
Devon: It's okay baby I'm fine! (Devon said holding his daughter in his arms)
Nia: I was just so scared.
Devon: I know I'm sorry for scaring all of you.
Nadine: Yeah I should whoop your butt D. For all the stress you have put me through. But I guess I'll let it pass since you woke on up. (Nadine said smiling at her brother)
Tanya: We're just happy you're okay Devon.
Devon: Yes I see that open season ticket came in handy after all.
Tanya: It sure did she said giving him a kiss on his head.
Raven: Well how are you feeling Devon?
Devon: My head is pounding. And I'm a little sore but other then that I feel fine.
Booker: I'll go find a doctor and let him know dad woke up. Come on Nia let's go find him.
Nia: Okay we will be right back dad.
Devon: Okay baby.
Tanya: (Talking to Nadine) Nia and Devon reminds me so much of Raven and Victor.
Nadine: Daddy's girls...
Tanya: Yes honey!!
Nadine: I was one to before our dad passed away. Well Mrs. Baxter why don't we give them some alone time.
Tanya: Oh yes we'll be outside if you need us. (They walk out the room to give them some privacy)
Devon: So what's up?
Raven: Well I went to my check up yesterday?
Devon: Oh yeah how is our baby?
Raven: He's great but our doctor wants to induce my labor.
Devon: Really?
Raven: Yeah and up until now I wasn't sure I was going to go through with it. I mean I couldn't do it without you by my side. But now you're back what do you think?
Devon: Well I mean my head hurts and I can tell I'm a little bruised up. But it's nothing in this world that could keep me from the delivery room. So when's our new due date.
Raven: (smiled) In another 3 weeks you'll be a daddy all over again.
Devon: I can't wait (they share a kiss)
