The One After Joey's New Girlfriend
McRaider
Summary: Just a tidbit to foreshadow the future.
Author's Note: I felt there should be more to this episode, especially after I watched him ask Monica to stay on her couch. I felt so bad for him.

She opened the door to see him standing there, wrapped up in his blanket, pillow in his arms and a look of absolute loss on his face. "Can I sleep on your couch?" came his lost voice, like a little lost boy who needed someone to love and care for him.

Nodding, Monica stepped aside, allowing the forlorn best friend into her apartment. She felt her heart go out to him; she understood what it felt like to have your heart all but ripped out of your chest.

He began to shuffle forward, she wrapped an arm around his shoulder, bringing their temples together as she heard him sniffle again. She walked him over to the couch, where she'd been camping out and sat him down.

"You okay?" she whispered softly as she continued to rub his back as he continued to stare ahead.

"Joey thinks I hate her…I tried to tell him," Chandler shook his head, "I'm a terrible friend. Why me?" he whispered, his voice beginning to crack.

"You really like this girl don't you?"

Chandler met her eyes for the first time since he had sat down; she watched his eyes begin to water, "I've only ever loved one other person more," he whispered. "It hurts…I've never been in this much pain. Why does it hurt so badly?"

"Come here sweetie," she gently laid him across the couch, until his head was resting in her lap. "I'm so sorry Chandler that you have to go through this," she gently ran her hand through his hair. She gently curled her legs under her body, and leaned against the side of the couch, "Who else do you love?"

She didn't get a response from him as she looked down at him and noticed he was fast asleep. She smiled sadly as she ran her hand down his cheek and neck, massaging his shoulder as he continued to sleep. "You're always welcome here sweetie," she pressed a light kiss to his temple. "And I love you too."

She hated seeing him like this, in such pain and no one else to talk to. With Joey dating her, Chandler had no one else to talk to except for them. She continued to rub his arm as she was slowly lulled to sleep by the sound of his even breathing. "Sleep well my sweet knight."
