Rough Day

Disclaimer: I don't claim to own any of the characters in this story, they belong to Rumiko Takahashi.

It had been a particularly busy day at the Ucchan. To make things worse Konatsu had called in sick so Ukyo was alone. There hadn't been a break in the crowds for hours. She didn't even have the time to do any cleaning.

After the dinner rush things finally started to quiet down. Just then, Ranma walks in, "Hey Ucchan, how's it going!"

"Oh, hello Ranchan, I'm totally exhausted. Konatsu is sick and I think I broke my record sales today. I've been cooking literally nonstop since lunch."

"Whoa, that's a lot, you think you still have the energy to make one more special?"

"I always do for you Ranchan," with that she starts mixing up the batter for her best customer. (I use this term loosely, as he never pays for his okonomiyaki.)

Shortly after Ranma left, (five okonomiyaki later), an unknown man walked in. "I'd like to speak to the owner." He said to Ukyo.

"I'm the owner," Ukyo replied, "How can I help you?"

"I was here about an hour ago, and I must say this place is disgusting. There is stuff all over the floor, there isn't a single clean table in the place, and your washrooms are a total mess! I don't know why people even come here!"

"I'm sorry, I've been much busier than usual and my employee is sick. I haven't had the time to do any cleaning."

"Also it took forever for me to get my order! You should learn to do your job!"

"I know how to do my job, thank-you, and I was making the orders as quickly as I possibly could. If you're not satisfied you don't have to come here."

"How would you like to get shut down?" He was almost yelling now, "You know what? If you don't know how to run a restaurant then you shouldn't even bother, you stupid bitch!"

"Okay, that's it," She grabbed her combat spatula, "I've had a long day and I'm exhausted. If you think you can do a better job how about you get back here and cook, and I'll be the bitchy customer. If you don't like it just get out now!"

The man went to reply, but after taking another look at the large weapon he decided against it, and walked out. Ukyo followed him to the door and flipped the sign to 'closed'. (Everyone else had learned to leave at the first signs of a possible battle so the restaurant was empty anyway). After she locked the door she sat at a table and just started to cry.

Authors Notes: I was inspired to write this because I work in a fast food restaurant and I or my co-workers have gotten lines similar to the ones the customer said. Ukyo's final line is one I'd love to be able to say when I get treated like that. So many people don't seem to know just how stressful it can be.
