Even world leaders have to be fabulous.

The first thing you noticed about her was this: she looked unexpectedly good in the uniform. Her predecessor always looked absolutely divine, but that was to be expected. Blue eyes and blonde hair never really go well with red and black, but she managed to make it work in some mysterious way.
The second thing you noticed about her was her poise. She held herself apart, and everyone knew it. She felt she was better than them. I wondered if she'd learned that from her delightful predecessor or from her mother, who was a rather standoffish woman as I recall. Of course, all of her people were like that. Something about having the moral high ground does that to people.
The third thing you noticed was that she was remarkably well armed. Hold-outs and knives, blasters on both hips – this girl was ready to blow someone's head off at any moment. Honestly, you have to wonder about accidental weapon discharges when she moved.
So, that was what she was: beauty, grace, and a sort of power around her – the sort of power that came from ruling the most powerful government in the galaxy. Half the people in the world admired her, and those same people usually wanted to kill her. But I'm just a lowly holoreporter – it's not my job to say things like that… Oh wait – it is, isn't it…
"Syndic? Syndic? Can you tell us about the circumstances of your predecessor's death? Syndic?"
The girl looks at the reporter next to me with the evilest eys I've ever seen.
"My father Jagged Fel died a week ago of assassination, as you very well know. I had nothing to do with his death. I adored him – he gave me a home when my original family died and taught me everything I know. I had thought this interview was on the annexation of Yuuzhan'tar by the Empire of the Hand. If it isn't…"
After that little speech, I changed the subject pretty quickly. It had taken us eons to get this interview, and if we messed it up we wouldn't get another chance.
Still, as I asked her the requisite questions of national sovereignty and aggressive intention, I found only one thought floating in my head.
Syal Antilles sure did cut a fine figure of a girl in that uniform.
