The subspace bacon

An ordinary work shift of Captain Picard began and he entered the bridge. Commander Data turned round, when Jean-Luc set down on his chair, in the middle.

"Incoming transmission, Sir", said the android neutral. "It's coming from USS Atlanta."

"On screen", answered Picard and made a little well-known gesture.

"Sorry, Sir." remarked Data. "But I can't."

"Why?" asked Captain Picard. "I thought the screen was repaired at last."

"It is, Sir." said the android. "The message contains only a text file."

"Oh!" whispered Jean-Luc. "Well, what are they writing?"

Data, turned round to his console, cleared his throat and began to read out the message to Picard.

"That is an emergency call from USS Atlanta to all ships nearby. We were attacked by an unknown species. They have stolen all our bacons. Please respond for help."

"What was stolen?" asked Jean-Luc confessed. "Bacons? Mr. Data please turn off your emotional chip and read out the file again." ordered Picard

"It isn't activated, Captain." remarked Data neutral. "The massage contains a list of all bacons, stolen by the enemies, too. Should I read it out?"

"Well, let us hear, Commander." said Jean-Luc. Commander Riker smirked secretly. Data began to list serious the stolen bacons:

"One communication bacon, two sensor bacons, all control bacons and a subspace bacon."

Captain Jean-Luc Picard stood up, made a little well-known gesture. Some crew members began to laugh.

"Quit!" he shouted crossly and made an angry glance over sneering Riker.

"Captain I'm sorry. It's my fault." explained Data quickly.

"Your fault?" asked Jean-Luc and went to Mr. Data.

"I suppose it's a typo." He answered.

Meanwhile Picard had reached the console and looked at the message, too.

"Helm! Set course to USS Atlanta. Maximum Warp." ordered Picard during going back at his chair.

"Make it so!" he said and made his little well-known favourite gesture.

"Are you OK?" asked Riker worried.

"Yes Commander, I'm fine." He answered. "But the USS Atlanta lost some beacons."
