Welcome to this year's Thanksgiving Special! To start everything off, we're starting with Cynder and Dunban's next chat up in Alcamoth. So how's this going to go? Read on to discover...

Heart to Heart 66: Outrunning The Past

Participants: Cynder and Dunban

Location: Fountain of Eternity

Affinity: Lavender

Introduction

Cynder: Dunban? What're you doing out here? I've been looking everywhere for you!

Dunban: What? You're not the only one who just disappears randomly.

Cynder: Touche.

Dunban: So what's up?

Cynder: Well, I guess I just wanted to talk.

Pass/Pass

Dunban: About what?

Cynder: It's... hard for me to explain really.

Dunban: Don't be afraid to give it a shot.

Cynder: Well then... I guess it's about... outrunning the past.

Dunban: Outrunning the past?

Cynder: You know as well as I do by this point that I've got a lot following me. I guess I thought you might have some advice on doing that.

Dunban: When it comes to outrunning the past, you're asking the wrong guy.

Cynder: (Slightly down) Oh...

Dunban: Just because I don't believe in it.

Cynder: Huh?

Dunban: The past is a great motivator to improve in the present and achieve the future of our choice.

Cynder: I... never thought about it that way. Thanks for the advice, Dunban.

Dunban: Any time, Cynder.

Pass/Fail

Dunban: About what?

Cynder: It's... hard for me to explain really.

Dunban: Don't be afraid to give it a shot.

Cynder: Well then... I guess it's about... outrunning the past.

Dunban: Why would you want to do that?

Cynder: Excuse me?

Dunban: Outrunning the past makes no sense. At least not to me.

Cynder: How so?

Dunban: The past can be the best of motivators for improvement. Whether it be improving what we've already done, or making up for our sins. I wouldn't try outrunning it anyways.

Cynder: I don't appreciate the immediate putdown, but now that I think about it, he's got a point.

Fail/Pass

Dunban: So what's the trouble?

Cynder: What makes you think I'm having trouble?

Dunban: That really seems to be the only reason we talk most of the time.

Cynder: Well, he's not wrong...

Dunban: So... what's the situation?

Cynder: Just... trying to outrun the past, I guess.

Dunban: If what you've told me is true, I can see why you want to run from it. But it seems like you've made remarkable progress in making up for it, if that's what you're worried about. You're redeemed in my book.

Cynder: Really off topic, but I guess he's right. Okay?

Dunban: I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Fail/Fail

Dunban: So what's the trouble?

Cynder: What makes you think I'm having trouble?

Dunban: That really seems to be the only reason we talk most of the time.

Cynder: Well, he's not wrong...

Dunban: So I'm going to ask again, what's the trouble?

Cynder: He may not be wrong, but I'm really not liking this assumption that I'm just having trouble. Who's to say this isn't the time I choose to have a casual conversation?

Dunban: No offense, but I'm not buying that for one second.

Cynder: Okay, that was just rude! Well then, maybe we should postpone this conversation.

Dunban: Oh great, I ticked her off. Sure...

This concludes Part I of the Thanksgiving Special. For Part II, head on over to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. This chat went through at least three variations before I settled on what it ultimately became. I won't reveal what the other variations were like, since they're not particularly relevant, but I think what I ended up on is pretty good. Anyways, next time, we enter our final chats in Alcamoth before leaving the Imperial Capital behind. So, who's next for a conversation? I'll tell you this, it's somebody we haven't heard from in a long time. So who is it? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
