Stargate Atlantis Season III Drabble Spoilers for Episode 6- The Real World
You have to fight this
She was laying there helplessly. Carson had told them all that there was nothing more that he could do- that she would have to fight it on her own, or she would die. That killed him. He hated the fact that he could do nothing to help her. There would be no heroics this time for Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, all he could do was watch her. However, despite all that, what killed him more was the fact that she was in quarantine. He couldn't stroke her hair, or touch her cheek or even hold her hand. All he could do, was watch. Watch helplessly from behind a plastic sheet, and plead with her.
"You have to fight this." John pleaded vehemently, not knowing what else to do. "Do you hear me? You have to fight this." He didn't care that his plea sounded like an order, and a desperate order at that, nor did he care that two of his team were watching him from a distance. He had the distinct feeling that it was Ronan and Teyla watching him, and in the back of his mind he figured that Rodney was somewhere in Atlantis, trying to figure a way to help her. It was in times like this that they would have all turned to Elizabeth for support, and now she was gone.
"We need you." He stated again, looking mournfully on her deathly pale face. She was usually so strong, and it hurt him deeply to see her as weak as she was. He wanted to help her, make her strong again. But there was nothing he could do. He shook his head and stepped closer to the barrier that separated them and just looked at her.
By seeing her there, helpless, he realized that Atlantis did need her. They needed her strength and her stability, her leadership and her laughter, her compassion and her companionship, Her rationality and realism, her focus and integrity, her smile, her presence and more. John contemplated all of this and knew in his heart that Atlantis would be devastated to loose her, and in this revelation he realized something else. Something that he whispered quietly to her, even though he knew that she probably couldn't hear him.
"I need you." His voice was soft and he didn't care if Ronan and Teyla heard him. It was the truth, he did need her and he didn't want to face another day in Atlantis with her beside him. "So don't die on me, don't you dare die on me." He whispered again, both hands pressing against the plastic, trying to reach out to her. "You have to fight this. You have too."
He could do nothing more, no one could do anything more. Carson had given her all the medical support that he could give. Rodney had given all the technological support that he could give and John gave her all the emotional support that he could give- it was up to her now and all anyone could do now was wait. Wait and hope that she did fight.
A/N- Hi all! First Fanfic in a while isn't it? Saw a preview for Stargate Atlantis' 6th episode 'The Real World' and was blown away. Especially by that one line of John's; "You have to fight this." There was so much emotion behind that line- as though Sheppard didn't know what to do- or that he realized all he could do was plead with Elizabeth to fight it. It just struck me as a Sparky/ Shwier shipper moment- thus this little gem came tumbling outta my head. Hope y'all enjoyed it- I am looking forward to the actual episode. Hopefully some more Sparky moments will be given to us adoring fans!
