"After all this time…" Kamikaze breathed at the sight of the towering spire he finally stood in front of. Iaian was stunned at the place. Spring Mustachio was in complete awe. Golden Ball was deep in thought.
"So, if this is supposed to be for the Moon Blade, wouldn't there be stuff around for the moon? Not shells?" Golden Ball asked.
"You would think that buildings could be made for other things to disguise the truth. Also, the moon did bring this place around," Tacki said from where she sat on Kamikaze's shoulders. "The main question is how do we get in? No windows. I don't see a handle, either."
"I could…" Saitama started until Mitsumi gave him a sad look. "Never mind. I won't punch it."
"I don't want this place damaged at all," Mitsumi said. Siren flew over and was quick to check over the double doors. She looked at Zenchu with a small grin.
"Oh. See if I can go in? Um…I can't. There's no shadows…" Zenchu blinked in realization. "This entire place is glowing."
"And we can't make our own shadows, either," Rendor frowned.
"Such an anomaly!" Inichi said with amazement.
"Master!" Genos said. He pointed at an odd piece of marble tile far up along the side of the door on scanning the surface structure. Siren jumped up to fly to it and press on the odd panel to push it in. Now the doors opened, and a wash of stale air came out.
"Back away!" Rendor said on recognizing it. "This place was sealed up for centuries. Give it a few minutes to air out."
"As an explorer, you would know this, huh?" Fubuki chuckled.
"He would," Tatsumaki grinned and blushed at Rendor's warm squeeze.
"This reminds me of a lighthouse," Child Emperor said when he peered inside. "The only thing here is a spiraled staircase going up! And it's attached to the walls! So cool!"
"So many steps," Mitsumi chuckled. "However, Kamikaze should take the first steps inside. Also, we don't know what's waiting for us the moment we walk in. We need to take all precautions."
"Mitsumi, can you hover him in? If there is no pressure from his steps…" Blue Ripple mused. She looked at Kamikaze after he set Tacki down and got her crane fans to hover over her. Two of them swirled around him to gently lift him and move him inside.
"That reminds me! I have your new fans at home. I need to work on another set of fan belts for you," Tacki said. "I'll get to it the moment we're done here, okay?"
"Okay," Mitsumi smiled. "Everything is good, Kamikaze?"
"Yeah. It's good. Nothing yet. But…would it be safe to put me down? I mean…" he frowned and chewed on the stick in thought.
"Catch me!" Tacki said and jumped into his arms neatly. "Don't tell me to stay behind! I need to be with you. I just…I feel it. Okay?"
"Huh. Fine. What do we do about…oh," Kamikaze blinked when Inichi and Tatsumaki used their powers to lift everyone else up.
"I am fine," Metal Knight said from his hovering robot.
"Same!" Siren said when she flew in to hover. "Where to?"
"Only way is up," Genos frowned. "Kamiko, please sit on my back."
"Sit?" Kamiko frowned.
"Piggy back," Rendor chuckled.
"Ah! Okay," Kamiko nodded and was able to do so. Mitsumi did this with Saitama, and Kianna was able to do the same thing with King. Kamikaze put Tacki on his shoulders as he usually did. Fubuki remained at Inichi's side to let him help with levitating.
"Hmm…" Black Sperm frowned.
"Just stick with me," Fumio grinned and let him cling to his back. The other clones would protect the entrance and proved this by standing on each side of the door to guard.
"Should I assist?" Deep Sea Prince asked.
"You're an ally now. You should," Mitsumi nodded.
"Didn't we slay you?" Genos asked.
"That was his dad. This is his kid. He's fine. He got woken up by Mitsumi's fans," Saitama said. Then he paused on looking at Suiryu getting ready to get levitated to help them. He grinned at a small idea.
"Oh! Of course, Master Saitama," Genos nodded.
"Hey, Suiryu! Want to do a challenge?" Saitama asked. "In fact, it's a training to see what's here. You run inside and up the stairs. No levitation for you right now."
"What?!" Suiryu gaped to get the others snickering.
"It's a stamina building exercise. Go on!" Saitama ordered. "Don't make me have my dog run after you!"
Overgrown Rover huffed and licked Saitama's cheek on being held by him now. Mitsumi sighed, but she watched Suiryu walk into the tower in full. Just as predicted, a pressure plate was triggered and he narrowly dodged a spear. "Whoa! What was that?!"
"Traps. Great," Kamikaze grunted.
"Tsuruga went home, didn't he?" Mitsumi asked.
"He did with Tanktop Girl to protect it," Inichi confirmed. "We are good for now. Suiryu, you'll have to run! If those traps are let loose from mere footfalls, then you must stay aware!"
"Such intricate craftsmanship!" Deep Sea Prince said with complete awe when the spear slid back into position. "Humans built this?"
"I don't know, honestly," Kamikaze admitted. "But I wouldn't expect anything less in a place like this."
"Wind Crane? You joining us?" Zenchu asked. She clapped her beak and looked at Mitsumi with a sigh. She clearly wanted to.
"Shrink smaller," Blue Ripple smirked from his tub. Wind Crane grumbled at the idea, but she huddled down to do just that. On being the size of a large turkey now, she let herself fly over to Zenchu to let him hold her.
"You were clearly holding out on me. What the hell, babe?" Zenchu asked and winced at her small nip to his hidden pointed ear. "Ow! Fine!"
"That's funny," Garou grinned and kept Lily near him.
"I'm glad I'm here with you," Lily blushed and got kissed by him before having her move onto his back. Blue Ripple studied how Deep Sea Prince saw the couples around him. It made him realize that the royal seafolk figure was incredibly depressed by something.
"So, do you have a mate?" Blue Ripple asked Deep Sea Prince.
"I? Ah. No. None are truly worthy. And females are hard to come by. My matriarch was one of the last ones. There are others, but…not of true standards for royalty such as I," Deep Sea Prince shrugged lightly.
"Oh! What about the Secret Skins girl we have now? The one that is a friend and can become that fish monster with healing bubbles?" Mitsumi asked.
"What?" Deep Sea Prince blinked.
"You mean Akiyama? I don't think she has a boyfriend…" Iwasaki mused at the idea while being carried by Flashy Flash. "And it's true that she can heal with those bubbles now. Thanks to you, Blue Ripple."
"Indeed. And she has a rather beautiful fish form, too, under her human skin," Blue Ripple chuckled. Inichi sent over a few images to Deep Sea Prince to get the monster's jaw dropping with shock.
"You fell in love already?" Inichi chuckled.
"No!" Deep Sea Prince said quickly before sighing. "I mean…is she truly without a mate? She has been gifted? And that form is under human skin?"
"We have a bit of a flight. I shall fill you in," Inichi offered eloquently. While Deep Sea Prince got a crash course in what Secret Skins were, Suiryu was now running up the stairs as though something was chasing him. And something was definitely doing just that with how spears were forming from the walls with a row of spikes lining each step he quickly leapt off of. He was actually having fun. He was surprise at himself.
"I was chased…by a monster dog…!" he growled to himself. "This…is nothing! I got this!"
"Hey, Suiryu. Watch out. The steps look like they move around up ahead," Saitama warned from how several stairs suddenly tipped onto their sides.
"What the hell?!" Suiryu gaped and started to leap over the faulty stairs.
"That actually looks like fun," Kamikaze smirked and found himself pulling Tacki into his arms to hold her close.
"Nope. You're with me. I'm having your kids. Maybe after they're out you can come back and do this," Tacki said and snuggled into him.
"This would be a definite training area," Bane mused and started to get some ideas. Metal Knight was already scanning how the entire spire worked with intense fascination. Even Child Emperor was jotting down notes on a portable notepad for future training machines and rooms.
"I'm not detecting any mechanical needs," Genos said. "Is this truly the power of the moon doing this?"
"No. It's the Moon Blade," Tacki suddenly said.
"Huh?" Kamikaze looked at her.
"Just…a feeling. Like…it's weird. I think…I'm being called…?" Tacki frowned. Kamikaze paled at this.
"Hell. No. No! I refuse," Kamikaze said now and squeezed her to him. "I should have you wait outside."
"Ah, nope," Tacki said with a small smile. "You'd go nuts thinking I was in trouble. Or getting into trouble."
"Damn it…" he muttered. "True."
"I thought it would call to me," Iaian frowned. "Or even Spring Mustachio."
"Glad I'm just along for the ride," Golden Ball chuckled.
"I think it's Tacki's pregnancy," Mitsumi said. "Kamikaze has the Sun Blade. She's pregnant with a small piece of it. If he used it before being with her. Right? I don't know how else to put it."
"Fuck…" Kamikaze grimaced.
"We'll find out when we get to it," Zenchu said and let Wind Crane continue to get cradled in his arms. "You like this. Don't you?"
She sighed and warbled softly with agreement. He chuckled and let her enjoy the new sensations. When they got halfway up the spire, Tacki grimaced and clung to Kamikaze now with a show of distress. He looked at her with alarm and said, "Tacki?! What's going on?!"
"Queasy…" she winced. Kamiko went to a pouch at her hip and was quick to toss him a cookie for her. He nodded and let Tacki snatch it up to eat with relief. "Thanks. Glad you have those!"
"Anno did insist on it," Kamiko smiled warmly. "Don't worry, sister. We all have you covered."
"I'll need some, too, at some point. You'd think," Kianna chuckled. King sighed and nodded lightly. Tatsumaki blushed at Rendor's chuckle at her.
"Same!" Mitsumi grinned.
"Don't remind me," Saitama muttered to get her laughing softly.
"Master…!" Suiryu found himself jumping over another set of rotating stairs. "Can I…please…have a break…?!"
"If I end up doing what you're doing without a sweat, I get to slap you," Saitama said. "And I'll even carry Mitsumi with my dog."
"Shit…" Suiryu grimaced.
"It might go a bit faster," Mitsumi chuckled and kissed the top of Saitama's bald head. "I don't think it would be much of a challenge for you, though. However, please don't slap Suiryu. He's still training and figuring out his bearings. Just…show him how it's done?"
"I guess…" Saitama said with a sigh of boredom and smiled warmly at her loving smile. Inichi levitated Suiryu to them and replaced Saitama quickly. Now Saitama gave a small grin and dashed up the stairs before the traps had a chance to trigger. Deep Sea Prince was in absolute shock at it. Mitsumi was laughing with delight at the whole thing while she clung to him. Overgrown Rover had its tongue out at the breeze from all the running. Suiryu couldn't believe what he was witnessing. Genos just chuckled at the whole thing.
"Huh…" Tacki blinked at a sensation.
"What?" Kamikaze asked when they moved faster in flight to try and keep up with the powerful hero.
"I can feel…absolute confused amazement…" she chuckled.
"From what? Wait. The Moon Blade?!" Kamikaze blinked.
"Yeah. Like…it's never known one like Saitama before. It's actually…worried?" she frowned. "I'm gonna try something…"
"No!" he said quickly. "The Sun Blade is very sentient. It took me over when I used it! I don't know if the Moon Blade will do the same thing to you! Please, just…don't."
"I was just going to reassure that Saitama means no harm at all," she smiled. "It actually understands. It's…a lot more…eh…chill? Than the Sun Blade? It's very different. It knows I'm having your children. It can sense them. And it's relieved that it's finally getting out of here!"
"Can it tell you how long it was waiting?" Iaian asked.
"It can't remember," she frowned. "But it definitely wants to be with me. It knows that the Sun Blade now has a partner. Since Kamikaze is my physical partner and has the Sun Blade as his protector, it wants do this for me. It knows to be gentle with my condition, too. So don't worry."
"I've never known how sentient the Moon Blade actually was. I mean…the Sun Blade tested me when I held it. It knew I only wanted to use it to protect. It was given to me by my friend as he was dying! It drained me so bad, too," Kamikaze frowned hard. "I don't want the Moon Blade to drain you."
"You worry too much," Tacki smiled and kissed him gently. "Everything will be fine. You'll see."
"Master Nichirin entrusted the Sun Blade to you for a reason. It has led up to this pinnacle moment. The two legendary blades are to be reunited at last! If this is how it needs to be, well…what more can be said?" Spring Mustachio asked with a small frown. Golden Ball looked at his friend with worry, but he knew the risks involved, too.
Kamikaze mumbled a bit, but the group finally reached the last platform at the top of the spire. Saitama was holding Mitsumi against his chest and arguing with Overgrown Rover again to make her laugh. He looked over at Kamikaze and said, "I was getting bored waiting for you all. The sword's up ahead. Go get it."
"Oh. Thanks," Kamikaze said and let Tacki move to settle on his shoulders again. Blue Ripple's tub was set down for him to reach up and get an awarding cuddle from Mitsumi. When the rest of the group was ready to follow, Kamikaze rose up his hand. "No. Just…me and Tacki. Stay back."
"Ah. Of course," Bane nodded respectfully.
"Master…" Iaian said.
"Everything will be fine," Tacki nodded. "Or do I need to make you a coloring book…?"
"Tacki!" Kamikaze scowled in warning at her grin.
"Coloring book?" Spring Mustachio asked.
"To show Iaian how sex works!" Tacki said with a wider grin.
"TACKI!" Kamikaze snapped at her and grimaced at her wicked laugh with the others laughing and snickering. He ran a hand over his face and looked up when he heard a faint shimmering tone. Why did that sound like laughter?
"Wow," Golden Ball said and cringed with his own laughter.
"Did the Moon Blade…laugh?!" Kamikaze blinked with surprise.
"See? It's fine. Let me get it for you," Tacki smiled.
"I don't…" Kamikaze started before she jumped down from his shoulders to approach the glowing blade. It was much like a katana with a silvery blue glow. The pommel was lovingly wrapped with various hues of blue from deep bluish black to near white. There was a small engraving of the various cycles of the moon in the blade, too. A sheath was also there for it with matching colors, but it looked a touch worn from age and lack of care. Tacki blinked and now looked at Kamikaze with surprise.
"Did you know the Sun Blade was also found from the ocean?" she asked. "It just told me this."
"It was?!" Kamikaze blinked.
"Yeah. It was. So, the sun guided the path to the Sun Blade as the moon has done so for us. Also…okay. It doesn't mind this temple being an emergency home, too. Even as a training ground, but we'd need to bring it back to activate this place. It enjoyed watching Saitama run when it knew everything was fine," Tacki chuckled. Now she looked at the blade and smiled. "Are you ready?"
It shimmered and let Tacki carefully lift it from its resting place after so long. It flared out a brilliant, white light to bond with her, and she gasped from the power that filled her. Kamikaze gaped and moved to run to her, but she was quick to slash out with the blade to force him back. For a brief moment, her eyes were as white as the blade she expertly held in her hands to show the bond was done.
"Tacki?!" he asked with complete worry. Saitama watched calmly with Mitsumi. He was ready to jump in if he had to.
"I'm okay," she said after her eyes lost the glow. She sheathed it now to show everything was cemented and complete. "It was just…surprising. It picked me the moment I appeared in this place. It's how I felt it. It…knows me now. My story. My hurt. My time as a monster. It knows all of it. It knew it had to protect me and work with me to help you, too.
"Huh! It wants me to try and sharpen it! Maybe I can if it knows how I can do it. I'll make a better sheath for it, though. The one here looks a bit worn out. And tomorrow it wants to meet its twin. It knows we're drained now. Exhausted. It will have you wield it with the Sun Blade, too. And it will not allow me to do that. Not until the kids are born."
"Okay. I just…damn, girl. Come here," he said and let her run to him to get hugged tight with relief. "I don't know what to think of all this now."
"You got married by your swords!" Mitsumi chimed in.
"What?!" Kamikaze blinked.
"As my fans married me and Saitama, the Sun and Moon Blades married the two of you!" she grinned. Tacki found herself laughing with complete joy at this.
"I don't…huh. Maybe they did," Kamikaze chuckled. Then he blinked and looked at the Sun Blade hidden at his side. Did it just give an agreeable sensation?! What's going on?
"We should go back to the place in the desert to test the swords," Bane suggested. "Tomorrow, though. Likely after Neutral Grounds closes?"
"Yeah. And I don't want to make it a big deal, either. Small group. This one. We don't need anyone else knowing," Kamikaze said.
"That's fine," Saitama nodded.
"I also wished to see the Wind Crane Clan temple to fix it up," Metal Knight said from his robot. "What is the plan now?"
"Home. And sleep. Lots of sleep," Saitama said and yawned.
"Sounds good," Mitsumi said and yawned after him.
"I am unsure if I could…" Deep Sea Prince started.
"There's a lake near our home! We can work on something for you there," Fumio grinned and scratched Black Sperm's back. The strong monster swooned with relief and sighed happily. "Oh. Did you want your clones to stay here to protect this place?"
"Hmm. Yes. They can stay," Black Sperm nodded.
"Wonderful! We'll make sure to leave a lot of food and visit every full moon," Mitsumi nodded. Black Sperm rose up his tentacled arms.
"No need. They hunt. They swim good," Black Sperm said.
"But this place locks up in the water. They'd be left without food," Fumio frowned. "Maybe they can stay until this place goes back down. Inichi can help get them home to us."
"That I can," Inichi agreed.
"Oh. Okay," Black Sperm nodded.
"Every clone you make is a pet of mine. I won't see my pets suffer. Mitsumi would kill me," Saitama said to get a nod from his wife. "Anyways, are we done here? Should I run back down?"
"Nope!" Tacki grinned and held up the sheathed Moon Blade to the ceiling. The spire top split apart like a dazzling star to reveal the ocean around them in the moonlight. "I can get used to this!"
"No," Kamikaze said and lifted her into his arms to let her kiss him. At her soft whisper, his eyes went wide. "Shit! Really, Tacki?!"
"Well, yeah," she grinned and whispered again to get him swearing again.
"Home! Now!" he growled and muttered to her to get her blushing hard.
"Yeah. Let's get home before they decide to stay and fuck," Garou nodded.
"What?!" Lily blinked at him.
"Truth! All truth!" Garou said quickly.
"It is truth," Zenchu nodded and yelped at Wind Crane's small peck at his shoulder. She was let down to grow to her normal size and stretch out her wings. Then she was quick to nip his tail to get him scowling at her.
"Ready for home?" Tatsumaki asked. Before she could even focus, Wind Crane was already lifting her wings up to let the wind swirl around them and take them all away.
