Bakura's thoughts

Chapter 1 – Goodnight and Not Goodbye

'Goodnight, sleep tight'

I stroke his hair…my beautiful hikari, Ryou…he snuggles into me…it feels so warm and fuzzy.

'No more tears

In the morning I'll be here'

He smiles up at me, his eyes growing large, shining up at me.

'Really?' he whispered. I smiled down at him again. His head was resting on my chest as I held him in my arms comfortingly.

'Really-really.' I whisper back into his ear. He shivered happily and giggled slightly, before yawning cutely.

'And when we say goodnight,

Dry your eyes'

I brush his tears away lovingly – such a new look for me, especially after the fight I'm trying to make up for.

'Because we said goodnight,

And not goodbye'

Ryou's eyes fluttered closed and his breathing levelled out, until I was certain he was asleep. I found myself still stroking his hair fondly.

I had to finish it, for Ryou…for us.

'We said goodnight

And not goodbye.'

I'd sleep easy that night…and hopefully, so would Ryou.

That was the fluffiest fic I have ever written! This is the…fourth evanescence song fic I've written in the past…hour? Ahh, I dunno. Anyway, thanks for reading, please review, naioka1992 – xoxo

PS: I might put all my evanescence song fics together into something I might call the "Evanescence Trials" – just because I want to. And because it sounds good. So yeah…bysies!
