A/N: So, this chapter will only be temporary. If you guess correctly, then that means that I am going to delete this chapter and replace it as a full chapter. If you're wondering why I keep in deleting chapters, this is the reason why. With that said and done. Let's begin this sneak peek.
Disclaimer: I do not own Akame Ga Kill and Fatal Frame.
Chapter Two Sneak Peek
The screen then shifts to black before a young feminine voice could be heard. "I wonder how long it's been..." She began. "Since my brother and I can see things, other people can't see."
Hearing the voice in a foreign language made the members of Night Raid curious about it as it was familiar to them. Yet, there were subtitles seen at the bottom of the screen. Run, who was a former teacher, turned his direction at the Monitor. "I'm curious to know what language this is. It's foreign yet it's somehow common to our ears."
The Monitor looked over at them. "That is Japanese. A language that is common to a country called Japan."
"That does not explain why it's so familiar for all of us?" Akame reminded her.
"Really?" She said in realization. How could she explain it to them? She simply cannot tell them that they were all created by an individual who is from the land of the Rising Sun. That and also, they would start to question whether what they've been through was through his decisions.
Just then, she thought of a lie she can tell them. "Maybe it's familiar to that of the lands within the East." That might have been a lie, but what she could gather from Delta's data before coming here, a country called Wakoku had the same language as the Japanese. Well, that is what she can think of so far. "A-anyway Reclaimers! Let's just focus on the game, okay?"
Each member just looked at her, still curious about wanting to know about the Japanese language. Yet, they didn't want to make the Monitor get too nervous with their barrage of questions as it could cause her to become very nervous towards them.
Everyone turned their attention back to the screen as they were about to witness the game that Nana considered to be a cult classic.
"Tecmo" was seen on the black screen as it displayed its red colors.
The screen turns to the night sky. Trees could be soon despite the gray colors seen. "My brother has always been kind." The female narrator continued to explain. The screen cuts to black before it switches to a bird's eye view. A handsome looking schoolboy with an unbuttoned white shirt and a black choker around his neck.
Leone whistled at seeing the boy. "I say, he's one handsome looking guy."
"Indeed, he is a Reclaimer." Nana Tangent admitted. "That's Mafuyu Hinasaki, and he plays a vital role within the series." Saying the last part made her voice filter fill up with worry. She doesn't know how Night Raid would react to such a TABOO subject that is common within the dark themes of the Japanese Media.
"What makes you say that?" Run curiously asked her.
"It's better for you to play the game. Then you'll all understand why." The sub-monitor explained, not wanting to even think of that subject matter.
"He was the only one I could open up to, about these visions." The female voice continued. The screen switches to the view of the woods to a unique-looking camera slung onto Mafuyu's waist before cutting black once again. "After our mother died, he was my only family."
"Aw, how sweet." Sheele commented. She felt sympathetic for the narrator and her brother's loss of their mother.
"It really is." The family man agreed, having a smile underneath his mask.
Wave, meanwhile, was bothered how their mother had died. He turned around to look at the monitor. "Nana, how did their mother die?"
"The game would tell you." She simply replied back to him. She didn't want to keep spoiling them, so she is going to keep saying that from now on.
"September 24th, 1986" could be seen in the bottom of the screen before it switched to a Japanese-style wooden bridge. Mafuyu put his hand on the railing.
"I have to say Nana, this reminds me of the East." Lubbock pointed out as he and the others looked at the building ahead.
"It really does, Reclaimer." She chimed in. It reminded her of the times where she had managed to slip away from Delta's sight whenever she was with Night Raid to visit Japan for the amount of time given to her. Hopefully this series will grab their attention to Japanese Culture and Traditions.
"You need to show us what Japan is like someday." Mine commented which made Tatsumi realize something.
He's felt like going to Japan before, but he doesn't know where he went. He shook off this feeling as he looked back at the screen to continue watching.
Looking up ahead, he had finally reached his destination. "So, this is the Himuro Mansion." Mafuyu's voice was deep and mature which would made some girls have a crush on him.
Up ahead, the camera then shifts to a large Japanese-style structure that looked abandoned for a long time before the words of the title, "FATAL FRAME" appears.
Seeing the title made Nana Tangent nostalgic. It reminded her of her first playthrough of the game and it really gave her the spooks. She immediately shook that thought off to focus on the present while having one thought. "Reclaimers, you will see why this is a cult classic to me."
The camera quickly shifts back to Mafuyu as he begins to walk through the wooden bridge towards the mansion. The female narrator then spoke. "My brother was searching for someone."
"And who is it exactly?" Leone couldn't help but ask.
"Junsei Takamine, a famous novelist, and someone my brother was indebted to." She spoke, as if she was answering the blonde's question. The camera shows Mafuyu walking up the stairway to the mansion as the voice continued to be heard. "Takamine disappeared while doing research."
"Hold on?" Mine spoke, grabbing most of Night Raid's attention as they listened to her. "So, this Junsei guy decided to do research in a place that looked abandoned?"
"I think that's about right." Wave answered her question.
This made the pinkette go silent for a while. With her left eyebrow twitching, she then shouted, "WHO THE HELL DOES RESEARCH IN ABANDONED PLACES?!"
"Novelists, of course, that specialize in Folklore or need some inspiration for their work." Nana answered the pink haired girl's outburst question.
"I can see why. But in a place like that…" Run started off.
"Why does it tell us that it's haunted?" The purple airhead girl muttered.
"Perhaps it is haunted." Leone guessed as she and a few others have no idea about haunted places within the Capital.
"Or just people making a fake rumor so they can make money." Kurome added in the blonde's statement.
"Ugh," Mine scowled at hearing this. "I swear, if we have a case like that…?"
"That won't happen, Mine." Akame stated. She was confident that they wouldn't have a case of a missing person within locations that were haunted.
"That's just your claim, Reclaimer. The future is not always within your favor," Nana skeptically commented. It may be a possibility that it may happen.
The Camera zooms into Mafuyu as he walks up the stairs and looks at the door. Shifting its attention to the object, the female narrator resumes talking once again. "When my brother told me he found out about Takahime's whereabouts…"
Mafuyu proceeds to open the door and looks inside the desolated interior before heading inside. "I felt like he was going away."
"Well, no shit, Miss Narrator!" Mine shouted as she resumed her rant. "Your brother decides to head into a place that's OBVIOUSLY abandoned for a good reason! Now–"
"Reclaimer, please!" The newly encountered monitor spoke. "Mind your voice. There may be some who are interested in this game."
The genius sniper wasn't so sure about that and looked at her side. Sure enough, people such as Run and Sheele looked at the screen and could tell that they were interested in the story. She quietly exhaled at this sight. Knowing what will happen next, she decided to keep her mouth shut and just watch the walkthrough.
Inside of the Mansion, Mafuyu pressed a button on his flashlight to turn it on and pointed at the place. Obviously, the place looks absolutely trashed as many could see the broken structures and furniture scattered at the entrance.
"Wonder what caused this?" Tatsumi asked despite not knowing a lot about folklore.
"Perhaps we would find out what happened throughout this game." Run answered the boy's question. Nana, meanwhile, couldn't help but predict most of Night Raid being sympathetic to the ghosts of the series. Well, except for a few exceptions which will be seen in the sequels.
"Oh, just consider that in the other games." The white orbed monitor commented in her head.
