A/N: Since nobody reviewed, just something about another fic I've started. It's an AU Literai Fic called "Reel Excitement". I would be happy if you would read this story also, and maybe leave a review.

7. "She's hot!" and "How to tell?"

A couple of days later Rory had moved into her dorm at Yale. Much to Rory's surprise, Pairs had gotten into Yale and was now Rory's roommate.

Everything was new to her, almost a little frightening, but after the party Lorelai had thrown in Rory's dorm on the first night everybody had been nice to her, so she accustomed herself pretty quickly.

At this evening Rory was sitting on the couch in the living room and reading a book. Paris had gone to the library some minutes before so Rory took advantage of the nice silence in the dorm. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Rory looked up curiously and stood up to open the door.

"Dean, what are you doing here?"
"Surprise! I just wanted to see your place, see how you live. Should I not have come?"

"Yes! I mean, no, I mean, why don't you come in? Sit!" Rory said, pointing to the sofa.

Dean sat down and Rory right beside him.

"So, how is the life as a college student treating you?"

"Everything is so new; the first days have been kind of a blast. I think I still haven't realized where I am yet." She smiled awkwardly.

"Well, I can tell you, it's a nice place you've got here, your grandparents must be really proud of you!"

"A little too proud I'd say, they're even throwing a party for me this Friday. I'm not really sure if I should look forward to it. The whole night old friends of my grandparents will tell me how smart and funny and beautiful I am." Rory rolled her eyes.

"Hey, let them, they're right!" Dean smirked.

„I think you're forgetting that we're not together, hold back the compliments", Rory laughed and slightly boxed Dean on the arm.

"Come on, you know I'm harmless!"

"Yeah, they all say that!" Rory felt as if she was 16 again. Talking to Dean was as much fun as it used to be. Even if he wasn't her boyfriend, he was her friend.

"Hey, why don't you come with me?" Rory suddenly asked.

"Come with you where?"

"Memphis! No, to the party."

"I don't know, I don't go to Yale, and your grandparents don't exactly like me, or want me to be in the same room with you."

"They told me to bring someone, whoever I want to bring. And I want to bring you. I want someone to talk to when it gets boring. And I don't need a book then and can bring a smaller purse."

"Wow, I think even your grandparents can't resist such logical argumentation!"

"See! So, are you coming or not?"

"Yeah, fine, I surrender."

"You better do. So, what do you wanna do? Oh I know, let's go to the movies!"

"Sure, why not!"

"Ok, give me two minutes." Rory stood up and went to her room.

At this moment Rory really believed it could work. That they actually could be friends. She really had thought it would be more difficult. But she realized she was fine without a boyfriend. And why should she make her life more complicate now, it was fine the way it was. Sure, Dean was cute, and there had been a time where they really had been happy together, but at the moment she was better off without a boyfriend.

At the same time Dean was waiting in the living room. He didn't know what he should expect from Rory and her behaviour. Maybe she had noticed that he wanted to be more than friends with her again. And why the hell had she asked him to come with her to the party? He really didn't know what to do, if he should flirt with her, if he should approach her, or wait for her to approach him. Why did everything have to be so complicated?

When Rory exited her room Dean stood up.

"Ready?" He asked

"Ready." Rory said smiling.

Dean was just confused, her behaviour was a mystery for him.

California

Jess entered the Inferno through the back entrance, went into the kitchen, put on his apron, which was still lying in the corner where he had thrown it careless the last night.

He was late, the customers were waiting already.

Today Jess would finally get some help. Jimmy had told him he had hired someone new who would start that day.

In the past couple of days jess had thought of Celia, a lot. He just couldn't get her out of his head. She was stuck in there.

Suddenly the door opened and a girl with a baseball cap on her head went in.

"Hey, you're the new girl?" Jess asked while he tried to get a look at her face but he couldn't see anything because of the baseball cap.

"Sure am!" The girl said and looked up smiling.

And there she was. For a second Jess thought he was dreaming but she really was it.

"Celia, wow, what are you doing here?"

"As I said, I'm the new girl."

But, how, I mean why, I mean, hi!" Jess was suddenly totally nervous. This girl intimidated him in a not unpleasant way, but it still let him splutter.

"After I met you at the bar I remembered that I have seen you before, and when I saw the „Help wanted" sign I remembered I saw you working here, and since I needed a job, I thought, what the hell, why not work with a cute guy?"

"I hope you're not referring to my Dad because that would make me really sad." Jess said smirking.
"Jimmy is your Dad? That's cool, I love the food here!"

„Well, now you can make it."

"True."

„So, I think we should start, the customers are waiting" Celia said ambitious.

"Ok, let's start!" Jess said and handed Celia another apron. „I think we're going to be a great team!" And he wasn't only thinking about work.

Stars Hollow

Lorelai was lying next to Luke and snuggled against him.

"What about coffee god?"

"If you ever call me coffee god in public I will have to punish you." Luke just mumbled.

"Dirty! And I think coffee god is cute!"

"I think it would be cute if you only would get decaf from now on."

"You wouldn't do that!"

"You have no idea what I would do." Luke said ambiguous.

„Again, dirty!"

„Why do you even want to have a pet name for me, you call me Luke since forever!"

"We're a couple now, if you are in a relationship you don' call each other by the first name. By the way, what is your pet name for me?"

"How about nag, or just junkie?"

"You're mean!

"Yeah well, that's how I am."

"This calls for revenge!" she thought for a moment and then looked at Luke mysteriously. "What are you doing Friday night?"

"Why are you asking? You have Friday night dinner with your parents."

"No it's cancelled this week. I thought we could go to a party.

"A party, I don't know, where is the party?"

"Oh, I don't really like the people, but I have to go anyway."

"Why do you have to go to a party where you don't like the people?" Luke asked confused but then he got it. "The party is at your parents' house, right?"

"Well, sort of.." Lorelai said meekly.

"Resistance is aimless?"

"I do have excellent persuasion skills."

"Save them for the next time. I have to meet you parent officially eventually."

"You know how great you are?"

"I know."

"And so modest at the same time" Lorelai said ironic and then smiled at Luke. "Good Night!" She gave him a quick kiss and then snuggled against him again.

"You too!"

"Luke?"

"Yeah?"

"Never mind."

She couldn't say it. Not yet. She wasn't ready for it, they weren't ready for it. Of course she loved him, she had loved him for a long time, but they only had been together for a couple of days. She really wanted to tell him what she felt, but what if he wasn't feeling the same for her? She couldn't risk loosing him, when she had just managed to get him.

He kissed her on the shoulder and also tried to sleep. But they both lay awake for a long time. Lorelai still thought about those three magical words she wasn't able to get out. And Luke only could think about what Lorelai wanted to tell him. If he had known he would have been joyful. Of course, he not only felt the same for her, but also the same fear of saying it in the wrong moment.
