Chapter 2- He left

Two years since the incident and we write the year 2018. the War is still raging but is slowly evolving into a stalemate like World war one. To prevent this the two main fractions Berk and Berserks send their Special forces for reconnaissance and sabotage missions. The group was part of the Berkian Special forces. The Black Dragons.

Since the group worked in the past together they had put them into one squad with Hiccup as their Squad leader and Marksman. Snotlout as breaching expert. Astrid as Weapons expert, even if she wasn't that pleased when they told her that she was under the comand of that guy she used to torment and bully because he was better. Fishlegs was COM expert and the Twins both where responsible for target sabotage. Hiccup was Marksman and armed with an SASS M-110 with an foregrip bypod combo and a Vortex optics Strike Eagle 1-6x Scope. Hiccup also was the best in Medic school but since he was Marksman the role was given to Fishlegs. Snotlout operated and FN SCAR-16 with an EoTech Holo sight and an Vortex 3x magnifier. He also had an PEQ-15 laser sight for Night Ops. Astrid had an M4A1 Block 2 variant with and ACOG on top and PEQ-15 laser sight and angled foregrip. Fishlegs had chosen a brittish L-85A2 with an Elcan scope, and PEP-15 laser sight. Ruffnut took a AUG-A3 with an red dot and Vortex magnifier, she also took an agled forehrip and the PEQ-15 laser. Tuffnut went with the short version of the MK48 LMG. He had an EoTech holo sight on it and a grip pod underneath.

The Mission was simple. Go in destroy the AA weaponry behind enemy lines and come back.

"Alright people! 1 minutes to the LZ ready up" Hiccup called. "And since when donwe take orders from you useless?" Snotlout asked earning a glare from Hiccup. They stood up and lined up. Snotlout clapped Astrid's Ass and she elbowed him in the face. "HEY! Do your dirty games when we are back" Hiccup yelled at them.

"He started it!" Astrid yelled back. "I don't care. Prepare for jump" Hiccup yelled shuting everyone up.

They jumped and glided through the air. Hiccup was the first to open his Parachute and the rest followed. When they landed they hid the Parachutes under some trees or in bushes. Hiccup loaded his rifle and nodded towards the AO (Area of Operation). They made themselves and their gear ready and then walked towards the AO.

They reached their first Checkpoint where they rested.

"Hiccup?" Astrid asked. "For you it's Sergeant" He replied sharp. "Hey! My princess can call you what she want" Snotlout interfered. "Snotlout how often do i need to reply it? WE ARE NOT A COUPLE AND I DONT LIKE YOU! She said now with a little anger in her voice.

"And you Sergeant" she said the last wird with a mocking voice. "Why are you so shitty to me what have i done to you?" She asked and looked over to Hiccup. Hiccup had a sad smile on his face. "I don't know Astrid... maybe because you tormented me my whole life. Maybe because you bullied me since we came into basic. Maybe because you and the other's had beaten me half dead and left me in the barracks to die. This was 2 years ago but it still hurts. It hurts a lot Astrid. It hurts that much because i loved you Astrid and you smashed my Heart on that day and why? Can you even tell me why, you did that?" Hiccup said with a broken voice.

"Sarge your radio is still on" Finn Hofferson the Black Dragons commander stated over his radio. "I don't give a damn!" Hiccup said enraged.

Hiccup stood up and removed his Black Dragons Patch and his Berk patch and threw them on the ground.

"Where're you going?" Astrid called. "Away from you guys" he said and took his rifle and turned around and headed for the forest. Snotlout stood up and aimed his rifle at him. "Wait! What are you doing you moron?" Astrid asked. "I'm shooting him. He's a deserter" Snotlout hissed. "NO! I try to talk some sense into him" she said and followed him. She took his patches and her rifle and headed to him.

"Hic... i mean sergeant. Please sir stay here we can talk about this" she said. Hiccup made a thinking face and this put some hope into Astrid but this Hope was shattered after he turned around to face her.

"Talk? About what?" He asked with anger in his voice.

"About us... the squad. I want to apologize at the base but please don't leave us we need you" she said with a pleading face. Hiccup shook his head.

"You know Astrid... that apology should have come 2 years ago when you left me to die in the barracks" He replied.

Astrid took his hand "Hiccup i regret every single second of that day. Please believe me. I was jealous. I was stupid. Please but don't leave us we need you. Berk needs you. Your Father needs you" she said. Hiccup jerked his hand from Astrid's.

"My dad dosen't give a shit about me. Berk never wanted me as heir. So what is left for me to stay and fight for a country which dosen't want me. I saw the signatures the Berkians signed so i couldn't rank up. I don't want anymore so if you need to shoot me or do what you want but i'm outa here. I won't come back and i won't side with the enemy i just want to live in peace. With no one commanding me around" He said now in a calmer voice.

"Good bye Astrid" he said and walked away leaving Astrid standing there.

She put his patches on her plate carrier.

"Commander... we need Extraction at evac point Charlie" she said with teary eyes in her radio.

"Extraction? What happened?" Finn asked shocked.

"Hiccup left" she said. The whole room where the Commander was with all the staff in it stood still in their tracks.

"Who did wha?" He asked unbelievingly.

"Sergeant Hiccup... he left" she replied.

Half an hour later an Berkian evac helicopter landed near the group and flew them back.

"As soon as they landed Finn Hofferson stood at the helipad with an angered expression. The group dismounted the helo and then it left again. Finn stared daggers into the group. The only one who didn't care was Snotlout. "Everybody in my Office" Finn said with a frightening cold voice sending every single one of the group a shiver down their spine now even Snotlout.

"He was one of the best in the Berk armed forces. And you morons bullied him away. NOW HE'S OUT THERE ALONE IN ENEMY TERRITORY DOING GOD KNOWS WHAT" Finn said the last sentence yelling at them. They all flinched.

"Sir. It wasn't-" Astrid began but got cut off. "Don't even try it Astrid. I know it, you know it the whole base knows it that it is your fault and your fault only. You bullied that boy and now you can't stand it that that boy is now above you. Astrid i'm your uncle i know how you are but still this isn't a reason to bully that boy" Finn said.

"Sir i tried to shoot him but she didn't let me" Snotlout said. Finn glared at him. "Your tried WHAT?" He yelled the last word.

"He's a deserter" Snotlout argued. "All because of you!" Finn shouted. "You are the reason. Your squad is the reason because he's gone now" Finn said and all heads of the squad went down simultaneously.

"So since i saw that Astrid and Snotlout are only playing their games rather to fight the enemy, Fishlegs hasn't the rank to do it and the twins don't either. This means i need to assign you to a new Squad leader" Finn said and the group gasped.

"Your dismissed. Astrid stay here" Finn said and the group minus Astrid left.

"Yes Commander?" She asked. "Astrid... i'm your Uncle and i don't want to see you underneath one but i want to see you leading a squad. I hoped you would lead your own squad but with this event today your Chances are all blown away" Finn said and sighed. Astrid looked shocked and then looked down in shame.

"I can't let someone lead a squad who will beat his team member up for being better than him" Finn said. Astrid nodded and had tears in her eyes. "Your dismissed" Finn announced and opened the door for Astrid so she can leave.

"Uncle?" She asked him as she stood in the doorway. He looked over to her and nodded. "What if we find him?" She asked. Finn waved her back into his Office.

"Listen to me lass. You can't find him. He's a marksman with an excellent weapons knowledge. He's a master in camouflage. He's a Ghost if you want so and this means you can't find him because he would find you first. Even i'm afraid of him. If he wants to he could come here and wipe out the whole base" Finn told her and now she realized that she was in deep trouble. If Hiccup was the vengeance type she and the whole squad would be dead if he's that good that even the fearless Finn Hofferson is afraid of him.

Hiccup walked through the forest. On his way he met with multiple Berserk troops. He killed them all but he couldnt get that feeling off that someone or something was watching him. He turned around multiple times to watch behind him but only saw forest.

Hiccup was a little abandoned camp where he rested. His personal mission was to get out of enemy territory and then go back to Berk. But this Mission was nearly impossible since he had to cross a river and the Water was so cold that it was already lethal.

It was getting dark and Hiccup laid down. "Why me? Why me?" He thought to himself until a strange noise woke him. He reached for his rifle just to feel that it wasn't there. He reached to his holstered Pistol and pulled it out. At the same time he stood up and aimed at the noise only to see a Dragon.

The Dragon had about his height and was pitch black. It had green eyes and 2 rows of razor sharp teeth. It had Hiccup's rifle under its claws. Hiccup aimed at it with his pistol. It growled and Hiccup slowly lowered his Pistol. The Dragon's eyes where slits. "A Nightfury" Hiccup whispered to himself. "The most dangerous Dragon in the world" he continued. He laid down his Pistol and the Dragon stopped growling. Hiccup went on his knees and closed his eyes waiting for the Blast or for the Dragon to attack him but nothing came. The Dragon just stood there with now round eyes.

"Why don't you kill me?" he asked as he slowly opened his eyes. The Dragon's teeth disappeared. "Toothless? I thought you had-" he said but the Dragon shot out it's retractable teeth and then retracted them back. "-Teeth" he finished.

The Dragon came closer making Hiccup flinch. The Dragon stopped but advanced then again. Hiccup closed his eyes and stretched his arm out waiting for it to get bitten of. Then he felt something, something scaly and warm touching his palm he slowly opened his eyes and saw the Dragon on his palm.

Six months passed and it's now November and it was already snowing. Hiccup and the Nightfury he named Toothless where best friends. Hiccup made himself a Snow-Camo suit. He was practically invisible in the snow. He built himself and Toothless a little house in the middle of mans land. Artillery shells exploded near him but it never struck him. He had killed multiple berserk troops which passed by his little hut. Berkian where spared but chased away by Toothless
