Chapter 5-New and old life

Astrid changed into the new outfit Hiccup left for her which consisted of a long sleeved blue tunic long dark leggings her boots and shoulder pads and her famous spiked skirt and she slowly braided her hair and slipped on her Kranson, she slowly stalked to the door and pushed it open for the first time in days to see the bright glow of the sun and looked around the outside of the hut noticing little make shift farms and a small stream off in the corner she could see the beast from earlier sun bathing while his "rider" sat next to him with his trusty journal he always caried around never really knowing what he wrote in it, it was really the only thing he kept private from her

Soon she noticed him looking at her presumably him feeling her eyes on his shape and she blushed a little at being caught but who could blame her a few days ago she was missing her scrawny sarcastic best friend now she had him back with ten times the sarcasm and he is no where near scrawny any more soon she didn't even notice she was so deep in thought he was standing right in front of her craning his neck to see her staring off into space

"keep yourself together women your promised"-he said smugly with a tinge of pain hating the thought

She shook herself out of her thoughts at his smug comment and punched him in the shoulder, she sauntered past him to look over the little homestead-"its not much but its been home for a long time"-he stated almost a little dissapointed

"no it looks great, cozy I bet especially with that beast in the corner"-Toothless was sat in the sun looking at the two humans with confusion asking why don't they just mate already, for dragons it was way easier but for humans it looked complicated especially since he had noticed another males sent on his friends love interest he just snorted and went back to sleep with his ear flaps up alert for danger

"eh that hunk of black scales doesn't take up much room he just a over sized house cat"-he stated nonchalantly his eyes pointing at the black mass

She looked up towards the giant mountain in the distance noticing it was familiar and realized it was the one the great hall was carved into, she was still on berk and he was never far she almost shed a tear at the thought of him being so close and all alone out here, soon she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up to Hiccups emerald orbs almost as if sensing her conflict

"it wasn't all bad and hey I had Toothless he kept me safe and company, they aren't all bad once you get to know them"- he slowly walked away back into his hut as she went back to staring at the mountain

A few minutes later Hiccup comes walking out of his hut with his helmet her axe sharpened and at the ready as well with a strange object strapped to his belt, he makes a quick patting motion on his leg and Toothless begins to follow behind him

"you ready?"-he asked muffled by the mask which dissapointed her due to enjoying the view of his face

"for what?"-"returning to the village?"-he stated mater of factly-"and why are youin your armor and mask?"

"protection and I need to make a run to the traders and by the forge"

"lead the way"-she gestured forward and he walked as they both disappeared into the woods with Toothless at their tails, soon after walking for a good 20 mins in comfortable silence listening to the faint wind on the trees and the birds singing with the occasional warble from Toothless she saw the cassum that lead into ravens point

"haven't been here in ages with you"-he stated as he noticed her looking at it,she only nodded and kept walking soon a question she had been meaning to ask popped back Into her mind and she displayed her concern

"so how is this going to work? I'm not going to be able to just forget your existence especially with you living on the island and your pet dragon"-she gestured to Toothless who only snorted at being called a "pet"

"you will see"-he stated calmly as he walked into forward as they reached the end of the trees before entering the village

"you have a plan?"-she asked curiously trying to think of any ideas he would have come up with

"yes actually I do"-he walked forward then gave a few hand signals to Toothless and had her follow him into the village as soon as they made it onto a main path villagers recognized Astrid as the heir to berks Fiancé but the Prescence of the unknown armored warrior made them uneasy soon villagers came and greeted her and praised to Odin she was alive and once they hit the town square all eyes were on Astrid and her armored guard and it got the attention of the chief and the heir

"well well well our future chiefess returns!"-a loud below came from the large chief as he walked over and gave her a hug and soon Snotlout came over and dipped her into a kiss which mad all the villagers give a sound of "awww's" all around the square, and Hiccup scowled behind his mask seeing his former father and bully after the cheering all eyes were on him

"and who might you be young man?"-the chief asked with a accusing look but before he could answer Astrid beat him to it

"this man saved me from a dragon in the woods a few nights ago and nursed me back to health"- she stated with a large smile and looking at him soon Hiccup noticeably untensed and looked at his former father

"i found her in the woods after a nightmare attacked her I scared it off and took her to my hut to heal her and tend to her wounds and after escorted her here to make sure she arrived safely and unharmed"-he spoke calm and orderly as if the story was true only most of it was leaving out the fact he was Hiccup the lost son and heir

"is that so?"-he said looking to his daughter in law who only nodded her head and looked over to Hiccup and hugged him un-expectantly he awkwardly patted her back and she let go blushing and stood next to her Fiancé and father-in-law

"well if that is so we owe you a great deal for saving one of our own please join us tonight as we feast for our future Cheiftess safe return!"-he bellowed out into the crowed as they all cheered he was about to decline the offer but he saw Astrid's pleading eyes and agreed

"If I may excuses myself my I use your forge? I need to repair some tools of mine"-he stated even though he really didn't need to he just wanted a excuse to see Gobber again soon he heard a loud voice before Stoick could answer

"of course yee can laddie!"- soon he saw a large man with his long mustache and hooked hand hobble from the crowed and shuffle him towards the forge

Astrid smiled to herself as she saw hiccup be shuffled off to the forge with Gobber but soon her smile dropped when she felt a firm hand grip her arm and turned to see Snotlout he had a nasty look on his face and turned towards his hut and stomped of with her behind him as they reached the house at the top of the hill he slammed the door open and threw her inside

"you think you can disappear into the woods for a few days and return with some random guy? Why you little slut.."-he was angry and she could tell by the darkness in his voice and she was scared and really wished hiccup didn't leave her

"what did you two really do huh? He give you a good lay? You will let that nasty prick give it to ya but you wont even let your husband?"-at this point she was tearing up she was scared what he was going to do to her and she didn't want to get hurt again

"oh your lucky I have things to do, don't leave this hut I will deal with you tonight got it?"- he sneered she only nodded her head knowing there was no point in fighting back he soon walked out and the door slammed and she stayed on the floor and cried

-With Hiccup-

Soon he entered the forge feeling the heat from the fire and smelling the burnt metal and leather as he walked over to his old desk and let his hand gently ghost over it soon the voice he was waiting to hear brought him out of his thoughts

"so where did ye say you've been stayin boy?"-he heard the old man ask curiously from behind him

"on the edge of the island I have a hut out there"-he said still entranced by the old foundation

"yer know anythin about a young boy named Hiccup Haddock?"-he asked soon as he heard that another voice broke into the conversation

"hope he doesn't if he did he would be charged for treason Gobber you know that"-the voice of Stoick commented as he walked over to the window with his Uncle Spitelout

"Stoick he yer son how is it I the only 'ne worryin abt em?"-he said almost sounding disappointed

"you know why Gobber"-he said in a low growl

"well for both of your information no I don't know anything about this boy you speak of"-he said in a angry tone only muffled by his helmet soon he walked over to the wheel and pulled out a danger that was strapped to his arm and began to sharpen it as he did his Uncle spoke

"so lad what were ya doin with my boys girl in the woods"-he said giving an accusing look towards the armored man

"healing her as I said earlier why do you ask?"-he said not even looking up from his work

"well my son has some doubts thinks shes been sleepin around?"-soon hiccup stopped what he was doing and threw the dagger at a post right next to Spitelout scaring him a bit soon hiccup looked at him giving a glare that could be felt through his mask

"no she's not like that and if he has those doubts he can ask her himself or come talk to me he will get the same answer"-soon hiccup being frustrated walked out the forge and headed down to the docks to await the trader as he was walking there he saw Snotlout drag Astrid to his hut and leave without her with him looking pissed so he started a treak to the hut and knocked on the door
