Disclaimer: Not mine, but, the plot is.
Lightning Flat, WyomingJack decided to stay in Lightning Flat with his mother instead of returning to Texas. He had nothing left down there to return to. He and Lureen were divorced and Bobby hasn't bothered to talk to him in years. Seems that bastard L.D. had done a better job of turning Bobby against him than even Jack realized. His momma sure was happy to see him when he got there. Without saying a word she just walked up and threw her arms around him. He'd been crying since seeing Ennis laying there in his coffin, but, now here in his momma warm embrace the dam finally broke and all his pain just poured out.
He stayed on at the ranch even after his momma passed on a few years later. Looking around he could see how alone he was now. That old bastard of a father gone, his sweet momma gone, no wife, a son the despises him, but, the worst thing of all was that the only man he'd ever loved in this world was gone as well.
He was standing at his mother's grave a year later when something made him look up. Standing there not ten feet away was the most beautiful man he'd ever seen holding the reigns of the two horses behind him. This man had blond hair and honey-chocolate colored eyes, wearing a white checked shirt and jeans, and had a very broad smile on his face. Walking over to him, Jack just looked at this man, his man. The words he spoke were the sweetest Jack had ever heard in his life.
"Ya ready to ride, Rodeo?"
"You bet, Cowboy."
With that they mounted up and rode away into the mountains and never looked back.
