#ArtemisInWonderland

In an unexpected way, Artemis could see her worst nightmares coming back to haunt her soul in a totally different way than she was used to seeing them. Being hit by a punch from her own sister, Jade, the heroine fell to the ground, feeling all dizzy and confused, trying to understand what was happening now. Holding her own sword, looking at Lex Luthor in his Lexosuit, Tigress saw Johnny, wearing his Atlas suit, fighting against the billionaire, using everything he could of his powers to be able to face the man responsible for the whole plan involving Cheshire and Sportsmaster. At the helipad, the battle seemed to be reaching an unbelievable point. In the meantime, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Zatanna, Green Lantern, Supergirl, Bumblebee, Black Canary, Huntress and Question found themselves in the middle of a situation against Sportsmaster, almost as a warning that they would have to push their own powers even harder to bring down the mercenary.

"When I was a child, things sure weren't easy in my life. At a certain age, it became clear how things were going wrong. My mother was the former mercenary Tigress. And my own dad, the one and only Sportsmaster. But indeed, it was some troubles. What they didn't know, is that Jade and I had a certain game, based in my favorite book: Alice in Wonderland. " - Using her sword, Artemis made her own weapon collide with one of Cheshire's sai in her left hand, creating a certain standoff between the two sisters. - "It worked like this: The two of us played this game, pretending that one of us came from a mirror and the other one had to imitate every movement that Alice would use. In situations like this, I played the part of Alice and Jade would be the mirror copy. There were some spots on which we switched roles, game after game. But to me, it had a different feeling: It would be our connection. Like a code to when things were wrong. It worked like the one thing that could keep us sane, when our Dad wasn't training us." Looking at Atlas, who opened his hands, using his powers to put more weight on the Lexosuit, Lex Luthor started forward, putting one of his arms in front of him, and launching a blast that hit the boy. All bets seemed to be off, but that meant that everything had a chance to go wrong. Artemis could see it in her skin, knowing full well how complicated certain fights were, but at this point, it was a warning that everything had been taken too far. Unsure of everything, the past seemed to return to her mind as her internal thoughts continued to flow, as the good times came around, but also the bad times in her life at the time Sportsmaster was training the two of them, both trying to hold their own amidst the problems. - "This game connected us in ways that we couldn't imagine. This book became a safe place that allowed us to create certain codes when things went wrong. And I look to Jade now, seeing how we've become more distant than ever.

Artemis attacked, using the sword in her hands and with that, she hit Jade, who put her double sai ahead, blocking the strike and creating another standoff between the sisters. Atlas, on the other hand, put his hands together, concentrating a small-sized sphere between them and with that, attacked Lex, hitting his chest and creating a small energy fillet, piercing the suit, surprising the billionaire at that moment. Atlas sighed, feeling the fatigue, however, making it clear that he could not claim victory under these circumstances.

"Do you think this will save you, Atlas?"

The boy was worried by the scene, realizing how difficult everything was for his side. Lex then began to fly, grabbing the hero and punching his face while keeping himself in motion, but Atlas created a barrier in front of him, managing to stop another attack from the billionaire in his Lexosuit. Walking towards Lex, Johnny channeled his powers, throwing several punches one after another in the villain's face under the suit, while Lex did the same thing, starting a duel that proved to be very balanced at that point.

"I guess this is gonna put us into some troubles now." Cheshire talked, realizing how Lex wouldn't stop until he had his hands on Atlas, making sure to understand the powers in his body. But she herself was sure that Johnny's powers, if not contained, could do far more damage than she could imagine right now. As if all the pieces fit together in a twisted way, and as if Lex wanted this to happen to set his own plans in motion in an attempt to destroy the Super Hero Girls once and for all and proclaim himself the greatest hero of Metropolis. - "We still have some work to do, sis. After all, we still have to solve that problem at hand. "

Artemis then, turned her focus to her fight against Jade and with that, both started to hit each other, deciding to put away their weapons and use all the skills, through the training Sportsmaster made them go through years ago. Punching Cheshire in her face, the mercenary fought back, throwing another smoke bomb on the floor, camouflaging her movements and allowing her to throw several punches, ending with a spinning kick from her left leg into Tigress's chest, throwing the blonde on the floor, and making her more angry than the expected. It was an almost silent anger, however, she herself made it clear how much their history could mean the beginning of something difficult, but the fear seemed to make clear the uncertainties and the fear in their bodies.

"Temper, temper, Jade. You are acting like you are doing the exact opposite of what you were saying to me before you left our home. If you want to find a way to solve your problems so badly, look in the mirror. After all, there are always several possibilities into the Looking Glass." The vigilante spoke, using her references from the book Alice Through the Looking Glass, reminding Jade of how bonded they both were when Artemis was still a child, but at the same time, the desire to try to escape Lex's plan before the worst happened simply made it clear how uncertain the outcome of the fight would become. That's because both were defined by the past. By the way Lawrence Crusher, the mercenary known as Sportsmaster, molded them in a certain way, forcing their bodies to reach their peak in training, more like it was his idea to mold his daughters into perfect weapons. Always aiming for them to use their anger as a catalyst to win the fights around them.

Meanwhile, Atlas and Lex continued to launch several blows at an unexpected speed, with the young hero using one of his hands to launch another very strong blast, realizing how much he was still limiting himself and with that, he put his hands together, starting to put more weight on top of the Lexosuit, starting to sink his body into the ground, which made him angry. Atlas opened his hands again, trying to ensure that the villain was defeated, but even so, Lex Luthor resisted against Atlas, through his strength and will and the abilities of his suit, putting everything at risk in the name of what he was defending.

"Do you know what it's like to have gravity against you, Lex? My powers allow me to do a lot more than just manipulate energy. Let's just say I'm learning a little about myself as we fight. "

"I'm used to seeing certain craziness at times. But let's just say I thought ahead."

Forcing his body, Lex pressed another button on his left arm, activating something on the display that blinded Atlas, allowing a fleeting counterattack from the billionaire. Punching him in the chest, Johnny began to feel a shortness of breath in his body and punched him in the face, knocking him out. Getting up, unable to see Lex Luthor, he threw himself, trying to hit his opponent, however, dodging, the villain began to make a change in his way, showing all his arrogance, but out of nowhere, he threw several punches in his chest and with that, fired a blast from his left arm, hitting Johnny and throwing him behind. With all this, Atlas tried to concentrate his powers, not sure what would happen now, which made Artemis worried about the scene.

"As much as it may not seem like it, Artemis, I worry about what Lex is doing right now." Receiving a punch from Tigress, Cheshire fell on the floor, more surprised than expected. It was almost a sense of rivalry and uncertainty hovering through their bodies, putting everything on the line. Slowly, the mercenary stood up and in the middle of the fight, Artemis looked at Lex, until out of nowhere, Cheshire used her crossbow, almost hitting Tigress's left shoulder during the attack. - "Remember: Your fight is still against me, sis."

"Believe me when I say that I will be more than happy to settle this all once and for all, Jade." There was uncertainty, followed by unexpected emotions that the blonde couldn't understand with herself. Still recalling the mirror game, it was as if she was fighting a reflection, just as they were both guiding themselves through their actions, putting everything on the line. She knew that Jade had enormous potential, but she was still hesitant to use her anger to succeed in defeating her enemies, realizing how hard she was trying not to be guided by the concepts that Sportsmaster had in mind for both of them. That could mean the loss of both of them to something they didn't want to admit to themselves. - "We can't continue this game forever, even more so at the pace everything is going. You think I don't understand you, but I understand you just fine, Jade. Even with all this history, the sister I know still cares about certain people, including me.

Artemis then, closed her eyes, remembering everything she had learned about combat skills and with those thoughts in mind, she started to hit several punches, increasing her speed and hitting her chest and belly, which still bore several marks from her fight against Atlas, making her feel more pain than she could imagine now and then, she landed another kick to Jade's right leg, bringing her down to her knees, but before she could land another punch, she grabbed her left hand and stood up, headbutting Artemis, leaving her dizzy and at that, she used her double sai, starting to provoke some light cuts, making it clear that she didn't want to finish her sister, almost like warning blows. Feeling her body getting tired, Artemis knew that she would have to hold out as long as possible so that she could defeat her own sister and help the Super Hero Girls take down Lex Luthor's plans. Delivering one blow after another, the two sisters began to intensify their own strikes, putting everything on the line to make sure they wouldn't give up now.

On the other side, Lex Luthor turned the tables on Atlas with each blow he received against him, leaving the boy in a disadvantageous position while he still recovered from the blow that left him temporarily blind. Being able to see some movements, still with his eyes impaired, he then used his hearing, using his other senses to counterattack. Opening the palm of his hands, he began to force an even stronger attack, using his energy manipulation to make his powers enter his suit and in this, he began to try to destroy the Lexosuit from the inside out, however, he forced himself even more, firing another blast in his body and throwing him behind. Lex's arrogance began to show, bringing out his overconfidence and determination to beat his opponent at all times, not caring about the consequences.

"You cannot stop the inevitable. It's all a matter of time before the final card is set in motion. But I think we are prolonging this story for too long. "

"Why are you doing all this? Don't you have enough already, Lex?" Atlas started to talk, deciding to use the billionaire's ego against himself to try to find a loophole for the attack. It was an unexpected gamble, but he needed to at least try and land a single blow on Lex that could defeat him once and for all.

"Why not have more, Atlas? I want so much more than I can count. You see, it was all a matter of perspective. Handling the pieces the right way, like a chessboard. I look at this city and you know what I see? A group of people, quite unusual, leaving their rules in place. On one side, aliens, metahumans, because nothing is the way we want it. So I brought some things in place. A little push to a certain direction, hiring the heavyweights to fight this battle for me. But with all that that happened? It only served to prove my point. That everything around is distorted. Always driven by a will to prove superiority and putting everything at stake seems to be the greatest proof. People at risk and the so called heroes around don't always mean a protected city. And I can understand that very well."

Lex continued to speak, while without him realizing it, Atlas put one of his hands behind his back, channeling as much of his power as he could, while looking at the billionaire, willing to end it all once and for all, almost as a small warning that he would not hesitate to do what was necessary and fulfill his interests. Atlas continued to stare, realizing how much this was the moment he really needed to seize to win. But his concern increased in an unusual way, but he could not lose concentration, otherwise his plan would go wrong in the worst possible way.

"But now, it's no longer time to hesitate. Atlas, you and these teammates of yours have been a hard thing to deal with, because people look at you like you're invincible, so I've decided to break the pedestal. One manipulation there, one manipulation here, for all of our sakes! You've been walking right where I wanted it. And I guess it's time to put all of our bets on the table. Put everything we have planned and bring out the truth for what we stand for. "

"So this is why? To inflate that massive ego of yours that you're the only hero in this town? Because of a warped sense of justice you believe you can carry forward while you get away with all your actions?" It was a risky move, indeed, but Atlas stood ready to launch the attack in his hand, watching Lex's steps. - "Do you intend to get rid of us just because we are against your ideas?"

"To save thousands of innocent lives, Atlas. I need the Super Hero Girls out of my plans for that to happen. After all, someone like me must always put their face forward, ready to do anything in the name of the greater good. My greater good. In the end, Metropolis will be grateful for my decisions and the idea of a better city ahead for the future." - The boy felt his strength coming to the point and with that, he gave a smile, throwing his blast in Lex's direction, on which, out of a sudden, he fired back with his hands, leaving the boy surprised. - "Come on. You think I didn't know about your plan? I'm always thinking two steps ahead of my enemies."

Artemis looked at the scene in shock, just as Jade did, realizing how Lex seemed to be anticipating every move around the fight and how his mind was his greatest weapon in moments like the one they were now witnessing. It was an unexpected scene: the villain managing to fight back the hero's attack simply made it clear that Lex Luthor seemed to be anticipating certain details, including how to make his enemies use certain tricks in his favor, which made everything even more difficult for both sides.

"Let the villain do the talking. A classic movie trick. I admit that I like to do certain monologues, but I have always learned that I must be thinking ahead about the plans I need to put into motion. So I think: Why do I let these make my plans? You see, Sportsmaster is just one piece of my game and of what I really need to do to defeat my opponents. One way or another, there is no stopping the inevitable. We're in the endgame now. And there is nothing you can do to stop my plan.

As the fight intensified on the helipad, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Bumblebee, Green Lantern, Zatanna, Question, Huntress, Black Canary and Icestreak found themselves in more trouble than ever fighting Sportsmaster, realizing how much he was resisting each of the two teams' attacks, without even feeling the impact of their forces, united as one at that moment. Throwing her shield on Sportsmaster's face, the Amazon began to strike back again, using her Lasso of Truth and attaching the rope to his neck, pulling him along. Slowly, Black Canary held the shield, throwing the object at Sportsmaster's face again, being hit by the combination of kicks and punches from Black Canary and Wonder Woman, bringing the mercenary to his knees, however, freeing himself from the Lasso again, Lawrence Crusher felt his anger rising again. Icestreak then opened his hands, freezing the villain's body again, however, Jason could see his fear rising as he saw Sportsmaster's resistance at that moment.

"Do you really think you can beat me?" Icestreak seemed more worried than ever, however, the villain put his hands on the floor, creating an ice path around him and with this, began to freeze Sportsmaster by the feet, leaving him surprised. Forcing his own body to the limit, Jason tried to restrain the mercenary as hard as he could, but even so, Lawrence Crusher broke free, running towards Icestreak and with this, gave a shoulder strike against the boy, throwing him into another wall and opening a hole on it. - "It looks like ice powers can't contain me for long. I'm only going to say this once, Super Hero Girls. After so many tries, do you really think you're going to be able to stop me?"

"We need to do something." Batgirl started to talk, looking into the solutions, however, Zatanna and Green Lantern walked, staring at the mercenary, more confident than ever. It was a risky trick, but both Zee Zatara and Jessica Cruz knew very well that they could defeat Sportsmaster once and for all if they did what had to be done. All this to ensure the salvation of Metropolis from the hands of Lex Luthor, and to ensure a chance for the city to be saved from someone worse than the villains they had faced so far.

"Green Lantern. I think now, the time has come for us to use everything in our power." With a little reluctance, Zatanna's eyes became purple, channeling her magic, while Green Lantern started to channel all of her willpower. Jess then attacked first, launching a giant blast that hit Sportsmaster on the chest, pushing him behind. - Sdrol fo Redro, pleh em! I ekovni lla fo ruoy rewop! Cigam senur, raeppa dniheb em! Evig em eht htgnerts ot taefed lla fo ym seimene!

Three runes appeared behind Zatanna, uniting into one very powerful rune with the symbol of the Lords of Order, where another strong blast began to hit Sportsmaster, who continued to be pushed back, but this time, feeling a strong pain in his body. Noticing the scene, the mercenary put his hands in front of his attacks, forcing his steps further and further in the direction of the heroines. With all this, Supergirl became the next, using her heat vision to attack the villain, at the same time that Black Canary used her sonic scream, putting more strength into Zatanna and Green Lantern's attack. At this, a scream took over Sportsmaster, with the pain becoming more and more constant. Suddenly, an explosion occurred, blinding the Super Hero Girls and with that, as it dissipated, Lawrence fell to his knees, practically exhausted. Sighing, Icestreak stood up, seeing the villain motionless. Raising his left hand, Jason froze the mercenary's body, feeling the fatigue from the fight. It was an unexpected bet they had made. But the final touch seemed to have been effected, even more so considering the risks that were taken. Four heroines, using all the strength possible in their bodies to ensure victory against a mercenary who had enormous willpower to resist each attack that was launched on his body, which made everything even more difficult. But in the end, the fight seemed to be over.

"That will contain him for a while. The fact that they managed to affect Sportsmaster has me even more surprised now." Suddenly, Zatanna fell to her knees, perplexed by what had happened, in the same way as Dinah, trying to force her powers again, to contain the mercenary."

"I have summoned magic beyond my limit. Using the power of the Lords of Order, means depleting more than half of your physical energy for anyone who doesn't have an exact grasp of that power. And the worst part is that I am barely strong enough to continue." In her mind, it was forbidden magic, even more so because she used something other than her own imagination. To Zatanna, using magic from the Lords of Order meant doing something much bigger than she was used to. On her knees, barely able to move, at least they had managed to do everything in their power to stop Sportsmaster. - "But we can't stop. We've still got to deal with Cheshire and Lex. Two villains we need to face."

"Being honest, this alliance was only to contain the giant here, but considering I was cheated out of the deal with Luthor, I want my retribution against him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We are united by the same goal now, and we can't give up. Not when everything seems to be difficult. And mind you, I'm the one saying all these words right now. "Jason was determined to get retribution against Lex Luthor for the fact that he had been tricked, even more so considering that his own teammates were still off for the count, leaving him in a situation he needed to be an ally for the Super Hero Girls and deal with this last problem in mind. It was something unexpected, him, as a villain, joining his enemies precisely to be able to defeat Luthor once and for all, but this time, he was more determined than ever to take this little alliance forward.

Suddenly feeling a tremor around the building, as well as the sound of a storm around them, Zatanna gave a smile, looking at her friends, which left the group confused by this reaction. But for the magician, it was a warning that everything could work out now for their side.

"I don't think we need to save our friends anymore. They seem to have managed to break free on their own. Shall we?"

At the helipad, Lex and Atlas found themselves neck and neck in their fight, while at the same time, Artemis and Jade were on the verge of despair, fighting each other to an unexpected draw, seeing how the two sisters were able to counter each strike dealt against them. With sword in hand, Tigress countered using all her strength, making clear the determination of each to win.

"I remember everything we were taught, Jade. Do you really think this plan of yours will end with you having everything you want? I may have said this before, but will it really make you happy?" It was an unexpected question, even more so considering how much both were on opposite sides, but trying to solve their own personal problems around them: one trying to run away from the past, not giving in to the anger her father tried to make her take on to fulfill the missions, and the other, trying to use the teachings to save the innocent and fight the villains, in unexpected ways.

"There was a time when things were different, Artemis. I still remember the mirror game. I remember you had some trouble being able to imitate me, because I would make up impossible things." Even with the fighting going on all around, Jade was still lost in the past, being sure of how different everything was. - "But really, that game could be defined as something that set us apart. The books you read, they were something unexpected. All of this nonsense, it seemed to bring us closer together with each game, until things changed. Do you really want to know the answer, Artemis? Actually, I don't even know if it will make me happy."

Artemis couldn't admit this to herself, however, but the memories became stronger than she could imagine, remembering everything that had happened around her. It was almost a request, wanting her sister back, before something worse happened at that moment. Both remained reluctant now, but the paths they chose simply made it clear how all the problems around them would not be solved as easily as they wanted, as well as everything they had lived until they reached this point.

"I understand very well, sis. We know how far this story is going to go. You need to convince me that I am making a mistake and maybe I am. But I need to find a way to solve the problem I've gotten myself into." Cheshire began to speak, as she realized the major risk she had on her hands and what would happen if Lex did indeed win. But she needed to keep up appearances, until she could escape the hands of the billionaire and the madness she had entered. It was almost a wake-up call around the sisters, because none of them were sure what would happen if Lex won or something worse came up.

"Do you really think you can beat me, Atlas? I know enough of you to know your weaknesses. But still, it seems I don't know your weaknesses." Atlas forced his body forward, until out of nowhere, their attack exploded, throwing them both backwards.

Lex got into position, looking at Johnny, at the same time, Artemis and Jade looked at each other, ready for the second round, but unexpectedly, a shield hit Lex's chest inside the Lexosuit, knocking him to his knees. At this, Atlas looked back, seeing his friends in position, while he gave a smile, realizing how much everything seemed to be turning in his favor.

"Did we arrive at a bad time?" Zatanna talked, while Johnny looked back to the purple-haired girl.

"A few more seconds and you would've missed all of the party." Atlas said, on which the group then, looked to Lex and Cheshire, confident.

"For once, I gotta admit that you made a good joke, Atlas."

"Luthor! Your plans to corrupt the soul of this city are over! You are in disadvantage! Wonder Woman started to talk, making sure that everything would go into their own way.

With that, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Zatanna, Bumblebee, Black Canary, Question and Huntress got into position, looking at Lex, bringing the Super Hero Girls together one again. However, all of a sudden, Lex started to laugh, like a madman, making the heroines worried about what was happening now. It could be desperation, but Atlas was sure that this could be another example of overconfidence in front of the billionaire, which made everyone worried.

"Yes. You've won. At least, this is what you think. See, it was only a matter of time before things would come into fruition. As you would see, all of you think of yourselves as saviors, protectors and in the while, heroes. However, there are still those who doubt. I am just bringing out the truth. How flawed you are. Heroes cannot remain anonymous. They must put themselves at risk, using everything in their power to win. In the end, when I get rid of this group, Metropolis will at least, be safe from a potential destruction. You know, the villains, they don't come from the ground, beneath us. They come from the sky. Lex Luthor started to explain all of his plan once again and Atlas was sure of how things would go, seeing how Lex had contingency plans in the case something wouldn't happen in his way. - "It's that old story. Every hero needs a villain to fight. Or rather, villains. I am breaking the wheel around us. In the end, only the smart ones survive. You think you can make a difference, but how long does something like this usually last? You never know what can happen, and yet you still need to be sure of the uncertainty and the truth around them for the sake of the greater good. But never reneging on the interests we hold so dear. " Lex, at the point he had reached, really believed his own words. The fact that he was the hero of his own story, choosing the Super Hero Girls as his enemies to further distort Metropolis' view of heroes and satisfy his own will in the end. And this was a wake-up call that had everyone worried, including Jade and Artemis, who were watching everything.

"You're crazy, Lex. Your disappointments are getting to a point where you really think you're going to win." Wonder Woman positioned herself, with her sword and shield, however, Lex looked at the group, confident of her plan.

"On the contrary. I have already won."

These words left the heroines confused, however, Lex just pressed a button on his left arm, releasing a loud sonic wave over the Super Hero Girls, affecting their ears. At this, he started to walk, spreading his arms wide, confidently.

"A while back, I managed to modify a part of my costume. It's like a kind of whistle, capable of affecting even those who have the most resistance in their bodies." Suddenly, Kara's body started to turn green, leaving her in shock. A sign that Lex's suit had kryptonite inside - "I possess the advantage, because my suit possesses the ability to analyze each of their patterns and powers, before they even deliver the first blow."

Enraged, Supergirl used her heat vision once again, hitting the Lexosuit and deactivating the soundwave, making everyone look to Lex, while at the same time, the billionaire took up position, watching the heroines. He was quite determined, at the same time as his own anger was growing, bringing out an unexpected thrill of victory at all costs.

"Now do you understand? You can't beat someone who knows what's going to happen. If you want to save the city you've sworn to protect so badly, you'll need to beat me."

The stage was set for the decisive battle. The Super Hero Girls, reunited once again, against Lex Luthor, that besides his contingency plans, had ways to make sure that the defeat of his enemies would be inevitable. At the same time, Artemis and Jade knew very well that this fight would reach a point that neither of them would want it to reach. On opposite sides, it was time to put an end to the fight.

Meanwhile, on the empty floor on which Sportsmaster was frozen, without everyone knowing, his eyes opened once again, at the same time, the ice surrounding his body began to crack, making it clear how much the fight was not over yet. At least, not for the mercenary who was determined to fulfill the mission he had now been given. This whole journey had started in an unexpected way: The Birds of Prey trying to stop Jade Nguyen from finishing off the heroes of Metropolis, but now, everything had come to a point where several unexpected villains got involved, bringing all sides together for the moment to end the battle. And in this, Lawrence Crusher was unwilling to give in to the will of defeat and would do anything to free himself and return to the fight.

Epilogue...

In the basement, Kate Young started to look at the book she had with her, more precisely, the photo album from her life that seemed to make clear how much she worried about what would happen. Meditating inside the basement, she started to think about everything that could happen in this situation, however, looking at another photo, she worried about how everything could go wrong in her life. Seeing her husband approaching, Tom looked at Kate, trying to understand her concern. But at the same time, Kate's eyes simply kept returning to the photos she was looking at, tempting an unexpected memory from her past, in totally different ways.

"Something's wrong?" He asked, trying to understand what was happening. She then turned around, looking at Tom, being sure that something might be very wrong.

"Nothing. It's just a trip into the old days, love. Before things would start to go wrong. Do you think I did the right thing? Not telling our son my secret?" Kate spoke up, wondering what might happen.

"He still has a lot to do. Trying to live a normal life is a difficult thing, however, our son still has a long way to go."

"We know very well how much there is a chance for everything to go wrong. When we talk about the past, we are sure of one thing: Nothing is random." The fear in his voice seemed to make it clear that there was something different about him. A fear, never seen before, even more so in unexpected circumstances.

"So, I guess your "old friend" taught you well enough to be sure of the consequences that would happen. Indeed, our son doesn't to know everything about the past." They both seemed worried about what might happen, but without being sure of the possibilities, Kate knew all too well how much everything had a chance of going wrong. Closing her eyes, she concentrated, however, opening them again, Kate just looked back into the album, worried.

"But I don't want Johnny involved in that story. There are too many things worth keeping."

The past seemed to follow Kate, at least in her mind, however, there was something that worried her enough not to want her son involved in her mistakes, while at the same time, making sure that her husband would at least be safe, in a certain situation. A mystery that seemed to make clear how old stories seemed to be sure that wouldn't disappear, no matter what could happen. And in certain matters, a truth would be needed: The past, however difficult it may be, doesn't stay gone for long. But why this concern? What secrets might Kate and Tom be hiding?

To be continued...
