A week later, when things had calmed down a bit. The weather was sunny, blue skies, it was the beginning of a perfect day, not a cloud on the horizon. Kelly was in the drivers seat with her daughter, Amaria , as passenger. She was fidgeted. First, plucking her seatbelt , then, changing the stations on the radio, and lastly, shoving her hand in the snack bag to look for,"the perfect treat". Kelly looked at her daughter's restlessness and saw the signs of alcohol driving her difficult behavior. Amaria, who gave the movement a rest for a moment, turned to her mom ,
"I really should've taken my car.", she said.
Kelly let out a sigh and internally prayed for patience,
"I know Amaria, but, this is serious. It's best that I don't know how really intoxicated you are. That is why I drive.", said Kelly.
Amaria went silent, thinking about it as Kelly looked over to her daughter,
"You don't know how much this is affecting me. Amaria, I thought you know better!",shouted Kelly suddenly.
"I thought so too, but, Mom, I was depressed Ethan cheated on me and I wasn't thinking!", said Amaria.
"Amaria, I just don't want to see you get hurt. I mean I always taught you to not make the same mistakes I did. I was 24 when I became pregnant with you. The fact is that I'm happy that you didn't get pregnant, but, you drinking really upset me! I found this good rehab place for you so you could get back on your feet.", said Kelly , more calmly.
Amaria let out a sigh. Then, she smiled to her mom.
