p class="MsoNormal"emNew York City, New York. November 14supth/sup, /br /em"Help! That man just stole my purse" The young lady screams as a hooded figure bolts down the street heading into an alleyway to flee the scene, thinking he has escaped capture, he looks upon his spoils as a figure slowly descends from above behind him, and taps him on the shoulder. The man turns around to see Spider-Man hanging there, upside down. "You know, I'm pretty sure this the part where we kiss, but we just met so maybe can have a coffee or two first?" The thief runs off to the other end of the alleyway and onto the street as Spider-Man follows "Trust me, you're not the first to run away after I ask them out. Hopefully you'll be the last." Spider-Man doesn't seem to be trying to take down his target, he seems to be following him, because about a month ago, he got tipped off about a gang that has been running petty theft, going by the name used by his high school bullies The Rivals. Hearing this Peter was determined to find out who was running this as Luke Cage left New York and went into hiding after accidentally killing his former best friend Willis Stryker whilst trying to save their friend Jessica /br /Peter noticed that this thief had the symbol he had found related to this gang stitched onto his sleeve. So, Peter is hoping this thief will lead him to the source. After about an hour of following him from afar, this thief led him to a warehouse on the docks of Manhattan labelled under the name Fisk Industries. Fisk Industries is owned by current Mayor and Multi-Millionaire Wilson Fisk. Peter is unsure if Fisk knows that his warehouse is being used for illicit activities but that's what he's here to find out. Peter gets onto the roof of the warehouse and finds a conveniently placed skylight and looks in and sees about twenty people guarding a whole bunch of shipping crates all with Fisk Industries printed on the side. Peter watches as the Thief runs into an office at the back of the building and all he hears is shouting, then the thief and three more men burst out of the office, seemingly alert and looking around. Peter instantly notices one of the men there. Herman Schultz, aka The Shocker. Shocker looks around for a minute as the rest of the guards are alerted, Peter assumes that Shocker has learnt from his past mistakes. Peter is unsure whether to take on Shocker and all his men or come back another time with his team. As he is doing this, he gets picked up something flying above him, it carries him into the air and says "Hello Spider-Man, now is your time to die" as Peter notices The Vulture has swooped in and picked him up. He drops Peter, who reacts quickly by shooting a web onto Vulture, but quickly realises his web shooters aren't working, so Peter falls, and is about to go straight through the skylight when he gets saved by Daredevil. Daredevil and Peter land on a nearby rooftop. "Thanks for saving my ass." Peter says. "What is brother's for?" Matt replies, as Vulture comes swooping back in, obviously noticing that Spidey didn't die. "You try and figure out why your web shooters aren't working, and I'll focus on Vulture" Daredevil says as he leaps into Vulture's face with his knee, smashing his helmet visor. Both men tumble to the ground, Peter watches to make sure Matt is safe, and once he confirms this, he sits on the rooftop trying to find what's wrong with his shooters, he uses his helmet's enhanced analysis mode, which finds a small short-circuiting device that was placed in the shooters, seemingly by Vulture when Peter was grabbed. Peter very gently removes the device, and his shooters start working again, just as Vulture and Daredevil are fighting in the air and seem to be coming straight for him, seeing this Peter uses his webs to propel himself forward and yells at Matt to move, who does and Peter kicks Vulture in the head with velocity and Vulture's helmet comes flying off and he falls to the ground. Spidey and Daredevil land on the ground with Toomes and ask him what's going on here. "Like I'd tell you, the person paying me is giving me too much money for me to give them up." Both men look at each other and then back at the name above the warehouse. "You aren't being paid by Wilson Fisk, are you?" Both Peter and Matt ask as Vulture bursts out laughing. "You REALLY think that the MAYOR of NEW YORK CITY would hire a group of Supervillains to keep heroes like you away from his affairs! No, I am not being paid by Fisk, my benefactor is more terrifying, and richer than your mayor" Vulture replies. "Well, if you're not gonna give us a name, I guess we'll just leave you for the police" as Spidey is about to web up Vulture, his Spidey Sense once again fails him as Shocker unleashes a surprise attack, both he and Daredevil get sent flying into a wall as Shocker helps Vulture up, Vulture grabs his helmet and puts it back on. "Don't worry fellas, the boss wants to speak to all of you emvery/em soon." Shocker says as Vulture grabs him and they fly off, as trucks start to leave the warehouse, Peter notices this and shouts a tracker web onto one of the trucks as they leave. "Don't worry, I've got a tracker on those trucks, so we'll be able to find out where they are heading, but for now let's get back to HQ and report our findings." Peter says as he and Daredevil head off towards their /br /Peter and Matt arrive at their Headquarters, an underground location somewhere in Hell's Kitchen, when they get there, they find Jessica Jones sitting on a couch, seemingly waiting for them. "So, how did it go with tracking down The Rivals?" she asks, Peter explains what happened and Jessica seems curious. "So, Vulture and The Shocker are working together and are being paid by this emmysterious/em benefactor?" She asks, "Yeah, but Toomes also said group of Supervillains, which has me worried." Jess here's this and ponders for a minute. "I'm gonna go snoop on the mayor and find out if Toomes was lying, meanwhile you trace them using that tracker". "Don't you want some backup in case- and she's gone…" Peter says as the door they walked in through slams shut. Their headquarters is very spacious for a hidden underground area, there's about eight rooms, so there's plenty of space for the rest of the team, and of course two bathrooms, then the main room is massive, they have a bar, an arcade, a "cinema" and then they have in the back corner of the room all of their tech, their computers, radios, trackers, you name it they've got it, and majority of it is made by Peter, with a bit of help from Clint here and there. br /br /Peter instantly heads to the computer and starts to link to the tracker, to find that they're still moving, but heading out of New York. "Where do you think they're going?" A voice says from behind Peter, who jumps out of his seat. "Oh shit, sorry didn't mean to scare you." The now familiar Danny Rand stands behind him, patiently waiting for an answer. "No idea, but I think we should wait before we pursue them, get an idea of where they're going." Danny nods in agreement. "By the way, a package was dropped off. It's in your name" "What? A package here?! Who could possibly know who I am, and where we are?" "Beats me, but it shipped from Japan." Peter instantly knew who this package was from, he opens it up and finds a box with Japanese art and decorations covering it with the word 'Oscorp' embedded on the front. This box was from his best friend Harry Osborn, who has been living in Japan for the past three years running the Japanese branch of Oscorp. Peter opens the box and finds an Oni mask with a letter /"Hey Pete, it's been a while since we last spoke, I know that I could have easily just called you, but I'm very busy now, meaning I wouldn't have time for the five-minute call that would very quickly turn into a three-hour call, so I decided to write this letter to you. You obviously would have noticed the mask I put in the box. I know back in high school you were very interested in Japanese Folklore, and I found this mask when I was strolling through the markets on my lunch break. I thought of you instantly and bought it, it's nothing fancy or special but I thought just sending a letter by itself would be kind of boring, I also get to use this new box design that our art department designed. Anyway, I'm rambling on. How's life as Spider-Man been treating you? I promise you that I've kept your secret safe and will always keep it safe. Dad has been really on my ass about the latest project, something about it being the 'New Super Soldier Serum' and that he needs volunteers to test it for him, he's said if I don't find people soon then he's going to do it himself, but that's just his anger issues taking over. I hope May, Matt and Gwen are doing well, tell them I said Hey and that I should be coming home for a visit in a few months' time. Anyway, I need to get back to work. I hope this letter didn't seem too formal, and if not, I better get one in return." Peter smiles as he finishes the letter, he closes it and puts it on his desk. Peter sits back down in his chair and grabs the picture of Gwen Stacy that he has sitting at the desk and starts to tear up. Gwen Stacy had died almost a year ago when he was fighting Doctor Octopus atop the Statue of Liberty. Peter tried to save her but couldn't, he often blames himself for her death, despite it clearly being Otto's fault. "I still can't believe it's nearly been a year" says another voice from behind Peter, but this time he wasn't scared as his Spidey Sense alerted him, it was Clint Barton. "Yeah... me neither, it feels like yesterday we were planning our wedding. He pulls out a ring and fiddles with it before putting it back in his pocket. "So, are you gonna write him back this time?" "Uh, yeah I think I will, but I won't tell him about Gwen. That feels like more of a face-to-face thing, you know. Luckily for me he's most likely coming home for a little bit in a few months' time." Peter smiles, and so does Clint. "Great, you'll finally see him after four years. Wonder what he looks like now. I bet you fifty bucks he's fat." Clint puts out his hand. "I am not making a bet with you." "Why, because you'll lose?" "No, because you'll lose. You always do." Clint looks slightly annoyed but pulls back his hand "You've got a point". "Plus, you know Harry he's always kept to a strict workout regimen." Peter hears a ping from his computer, he turns around to see that the truck stopped at a gas station not too far out from the Canadian border. "Canada? Who in the hell would want to go to Canada?" Clint questions as he leers at the screen from behind. "I have no idea, but let's watch to see where they stop next." Peter and Clint wait for another ping from the computer, whilst playing video games on the TV. About four hours later, they get a ping. Clint quickly rushes over to check. "Where'd they stop?" asks Peter "Quebec City"./p
