Chapter 73

"Honey we're home!" said Leonard as he and Sarah came in the living room.

"Shhh! Keep it down! I just got him to sleep!" Penny said, slightly grunting at her husband.

"Okay...I'm sorry." he said as he put his satchel on his desk before going over to look at his son, quietly sleeping on the crib. He lightly touched his son's hand. "He's so handsome." he said.

Penny sat back down on the couch and leaned her head back. "If he wakes up you're gonna put him back to sleep." she said as Sarah sat beside her mother.

"You look tired mom." said Sarah while looking at Penny.

Penny pulled her close and hugged her. "I am tired….your brother just won't stop eating and pooping...and eating again…" she said, making the young lady laugh.

Leonard sat beside her and kissed her cheek. "Just relax honey...I'll make us some dinner...while you, go to the bathroom and wash up." he told Sarah before standing up, going to the kitchen.

"Thank you honey...you're so great…" said Penny while keeping her eyes closed.

After half an hour, the young family was having a quiet dinner. "How was school sweetheart?" asked Penny.

"Okay I guess...my classmates were bugging to see William's pictures." said Sarah.

"What did you tell them?" Penny asked.

"My teacher Ms. Brenner looked at dad's Facebook page and showed them William's pictures." said Sarah. "I gotta tell you, they all fell in love with him instantly."

"That's so nice." said Penny as they continued eating dinner when they heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it." said Sarah, getting off her chair and running to get the door. "Grandma! Grandpa!" she exclaimed when she saw Susan and Wyatt standing at the hall.

"Oh sweetheart! It's nice to see you again!" said Susan, hugging Sarah tight while Penny got off her chair and went to hug her father.

"Dad!" said Penny.

"Hey slugger…" said Wyatt. "Hey Leonard." he said while shaking his hand.

"Why didn't you tell us that you were coming? I could've picked you guys from the airport." Leonard said.

"It's not a problem Leonard…we know how busy you are with your baby." said Susan, hugging him.

"Grandma come on…William is over here sleeping." Sarah said while pulling her grandparents towards the crib.

"Wyatt look at him...he's so cute...he really got Penny's nose…" Susan said, visibly excited in seeing her grandson for the first time.

"He is one handsome kid huh?" Wyatt said to Sarah.

"He is grandpa." Sarah said as they looked at William peacefully sleeping on his crib. "But when he cries you better cover your ears or you'll lose your hearing." she said.

"Well that's proof that he's Penny's son." Susan said, making fun of her daughter.

"Wow...you guys haven't even settled yet and you're already making fun of me?" Penny said to her parents.

"Don't worry honey, we're gonna be here for some time so we could help you in taking care of this young man." said Susan.

Penny sighed, smiling at her parents. "Fine...why don't you guys join us for dinner, you must be hungry." she said.

"Actually we've already eaten...I'm just gonna wash up in the bathroom." said Wyatt as he went to the bathroom.

"Okay...let's finish up eating so your grandma and grandpa can settle in." said Leonard.

"But dad...will grandma and grandpa be staying with us?" asked Sarah.

"Of course sweetheart. Why do you ask?" said Penny as they continue eating.

"Well nothing...it's just my bed is kinda small to fit grandma and grandpa…" said the young lady.

"Aww...don't worry honey...we'll be alright." said Susan.

After washing up in the bathroom and changing their clothes, Susan and Wyatt joined the young family in the living room just as William woke up, crying his lungs out.

"You wanna hold him mom?" said Penny as she took the baby from the crib.

"Aww...come here sweetheart…" Susan said while carefully taking the baby in her arms. "You are so handsome!" she added, kissing the baby. "Are you hungry?"

"Okay...food's coming up buddy...let me just warm up some milk…" said Leonard, taking a bottle of Penny's stored-up milk from the fridge.

"Shhh...shhhh…daddy's coming soon...don't cry…" Susan said while cradling the baby in her arms. "Look at him Wyatt...he even got Penny's cheek...and Leonard's hair."

"You guys sure crank out beautiful babies huh?" Wyatt said, touching his grandson's tiny hands. "I'm sure a lot of girls would fall in love with him." he added as William continued to cry.

"He even cries like your mom when she was a baby." Susan told Sarah, making the young girl laugh.

"That's funny." Sarah said while looking at Penny.

"No it's not." Penny said, giving Sarah a stern look.

"Aren't you proud of him." Sarah said.

Penny smiled and kissed Sarah's cheek. "I am...and also with you...little miss genius!" she said. "Now why don't you clear out some of the stuff in your bed so your grandma and grandpa would be more comfortable in your room." she said.

Sarah stood up. "Okay...I got it." she said before going to her room, doing what Penny asked of her.

"Here you go buddy." Leonard said, handing the milk bottle to Susan so William could eat. Susan carefully placed the bottle at the baby's lips as William hurriedly locked onto it to satisfy his hunger.

"He's just so adorable!" Susan said while looking at her grandson. "Good job honey!" she said to Penny.

"Thanks mom." said Penny as they looked onto William who kept drinking his fill.

After a couple of days, Beverly and Alfred visited the young family, surprising even Susan and Wyatt when they arrived together at the apartment.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" Sarah exclaimed, welcoming her grandparents with a hug.

"Ugh...I missed you so much dear!" Beverly said, relieved of seeing her grandchild again.

"Hi grandpa!" said the young lady.

"I missed you so much!" said Alfred, hugging her granddaughter while Beverly greeted Penny and her parents.

"Uh...did you and mom came in the same flight?" Leonard asked his father.

"Yeah...I called her last week and told her of my plans to visit." said Alfred.

Sarah looked at Penny and smiled. "That's good to know!" she said, making Penny laugh.

"Come in you guys...you must be tired from your trip." Penny said, welcoming them into the apartment while Leonard took his son from the crib, bringing him over to meet Beverly and Alfred for the first time.

"Okay buddy...here's your grandma and grandpa!" said Leonard.

"Oh my god! He's so handsome!" Beverly exclaimed. "Alfred look at him!"

"Good thing he got Penny's nose." Alfred said, lightly touching William's hands.

"You wanna hold him?" Leonard asked his mother.

Beverly gave them a weak smile. "It's been a long time since I held a baby." she said while slowly taking the baby from her son. "I hope I don't hurt him."

"I'm sure it'll come back to you Beverly." said Susan.

William was slightly startled when Beverly took him in her arms. "Shhh...I'm sorry dear..." Beverly whispered, rocking the baby back to sleep. "He's so adorable! Good job Penny!" she said, making Penny smile.

"Awww...thank you Beverly...that means so much!" Penny said, happy for her mother-in-laws' compliment.

"Do you wanna hold your grandson?" Beverly asked Alfred.

"Uh...okay...I hope I don't hurt him or something." he said as Beverly slowly put the baby in his arms. "Come here buddy..." he said.

William suddenly woke up, moving his arms and legs. before crying a little. "Okay sweetheart...don't be scared...it's just your grandpa." Penny said, trying to reassure her son as Alfred tried to calm the baby down.

"You are a handsome kid huh?" Alfred said to his grandson. William slowly smiled, making them all swoon at how adorable the young man is.

"Honey look!" Penny told Leonard, seeing her son smile.

"I'm telling you Leonard...your son is gonna break a lot of girl's hearts when he grows up." said Wyatt when William suddenly squealed, smiling at them. "You see that? He already knows what I'm talking about!" he said making them all laugh.

"Well that just proves that he got my charm and personality!" Leonard said, proud of his son.

Sarah looked at his grandparents. "Dad sometimes imagine things...no matter how outrageous they are." she said, making them all laugh.

"Good call sweetheart!" Penny said, giving her daughter a high five.

For the next three weeks, Leonard and Penny's apartment was filled with joy and laughter with William being in the center of attention. The grandparents made sure to be there and help the couple in taking care of the young man, seeing at how adorable and cute William was. Sarah was also glad that her grandparents were there, taking turns in bringing her to school and meeting some of her teachers and classmates.

As the days drew on, they saw how fast William grew, growing more active and strong as Penny never held back on feeding him whenever he cries for food. Leonard spent his paternity leave in taking care of their son, helping his wife as she slowly recovered from giving birth and to gain her strength back.
