Signy Freyda, 17

District 10 Victor

Today was reaping day. Two years ago today, Arturo Belldam drew her name from the glass bowls onstage, and changed her life. And today, two other innocent kids from District 10 would have their lives changed. And possibly ended.

As a victor, it was customary for Signy to be onstage at the reapings. But she had time to watch the others first. And if she was going to be an effective mentor, she had to size up her mentee's competition.

On the television, District 1 came to life. Scenes of rolling hills of vineyards with majestic mountains in the background were shown, and then the camera swept to the stage. Clio Lang stood onstage, dressed in a shimmering black and white polka dot dress. Her black stilettos clicked across the stage as she walked.

To make the viewings more interesting for the Capitol, the video of the Dark Days wasn't shown. Instead, while it was playing, Heaven Weiss would comment on the past victors. Today she was babbling about Amethyst, this year's female District 1 mentor.

Clio took a slip from the girl's bowl and called out a name.

"Abbey Behr!" she said. Before she could close her mouth, someone volunteered. She was one of the most beautiful women Signy had ever seen. She was tall, with raven-black hair and smooth white skin. Her hips swung gently as she walked. She wore a silky lavender dress with creamy heels and her makeup was pale and pretty and perfect.

"Allure Belldam," she told Clio with a curtsey. The crowd applauded. Clio went over to the boy's bowl, but before she could draw a slip, someone called out.

"I volunteer!" a large boy said with a slurred voice. He had thick brown hair, which looked messy, as if he hadn't brushed it. His shirt was buttoned wrong, and he stumbled a bit on his way to the stage.

"I'm Dionysus Bacchus," he told Clio. "Your future victor." The cheers for Dionysus were lacking compared to those for Allure, but both seemed generally well-received. Dionysus was clearly not in his right state of mind though. And Signy knew better than to assume Allure was just a ditz.

District 2 was much more solemn than District 1, but there were still banners up and decorative flowers on the stage. Veridie Hammond was dressed in a deep ocean-blue gown and seemed to simply flow across the stage. She was one of the more natural-looking escorts, which Signy appreciated.

A dark-skinned girl in a red sundress volunteered, walking to the stage with slightly hunched shoulders and eyes downcast. She quietly introduced herself as Nailah Nebit. 'She's scared, Signy thought. 'Odd, for a Career'.

Nailah's district partner was Nero Inculta, a buff redhead with a bright smile. Desdemona Case, the victor of the 6th Hunger Games, stood to applaud him, and Signy could see some similarities in the shape of their noses. Were they related?

District 3 was rainy and somber. The uniform gray buildings were silhouetted against a gray sky, seemingly standing guard over the children it would soon lose.

To Signy's surprise, District 3 produced a volunteer. A boy named Yakob Volkov was reaped, but the camera didn't have time to find him in the crowd before another boy was calling out.

The volunteer was Taroh Akagi, a skinny boy with shaggy yellow hair. He gave Yakob a hug before climbing the stairs to introduce himself to Caligula, the escort. Then he stared out at the crowd, biting hard on his lower lip.

However, the girl was reaped. Cheyanne Talor was a tall girl with long red hair done up in a braid. She has stormy gray eyes, and her face was stormy too as she shook hands with Taroh. Neither tribute looked like someone to write off.

District 4 was a stark contrast to gray District 3. Signy could almost smell the sea breeze she remembered from her victory tour as Daphne Blumenthal welcomed everyone. District 4 was hit-and-miss with volunteers, but this year successfully produced two.

Anthony Morgan volunteered first. He was tall, with tanned skin and blonde hair bleached from the sun. Definitely the type the Capitol would take the sexy route with. His district partner was also stunning, with sandy blonde hair and a lean body. Her name was Ceto Preston, and she looked ready to murder Anthony right then and there.

District 5 was a beautiful place, with red rocks standing in odd formations and a wonderful purple sunset. But it was also sweltering hot, and everyone looked miserable, including Sabrina Jett, the escort. She hurried through her introduction to reap a girl named Ingrid Sampson.

When Ingrid was reaped, someone in the crowd screamed. Ingrid flinched, but didn't look back as she went to stand beside Sabrina.

"Please, call me Gigi," she requested. Signy took note of that.

A dark-haired boy named Connor Merlyn was reaped next, causing some murmuring to spread through the crowd. Connor himself seemed unfazed though. Signy was impressed. So far, the tribute who seemed the most nervous about their situation was Nailah.

District 6 was also gray, but it was because of the smog. A few gaps in the clouds allowed sunlight to filter through, creating an odd speckled look that didn't show up well on camera. Hestia Locke reaped a boy first, calling Richard MacReady to the stage. A boy with white-blonde hair and thick glasses marched up, looking angry.

"R.J.," was all he said to the escort. "My name is R.J."

Porsche Romeo was reaped next, and revealed to be a tall girl with a buzzcut and bright eyes. She limped to the stage, leaning heavily on a polished wooden cane and cursing loudly. It made Signy smile in spite of herself.

District 7 was also cloudy, but it was much more beautiful than 6. Tall trees backdropped the stage, the morning mist burning off of them. Hans Colfer made sure to note the stunning scenery before reaping Desiree Redwood, a massively buff girl with short hair. She seemed calm, as did her district partner, a 15-year-old with spiky hair named Martin Jackman.

District 8 managed to look nice, despite its many factories. Colorful banners were tied up and flowers decorated the stage and the square. Still, Agnes Ortega seemed unhappy to be there. She was solemn as she reaped Archibald Pell, a 13-year-old with long blonde hair. He stumbled on his way up the stairs, making Signy frown. Poor kid.

Kjole Schmeichel gave the opposite impression. She was extremely tall, with dark skin and a neat bob, and gloves covering her hands. She looked strong and silent as she took her place beside Agnes and Archibald.

At this point, Signy shut off the television. She had to get ready. She could just watch the rest of the reapings on the train. But so far, everyone seemed impressive. This would be an interesting year.

Zander Kline, 20

District 8 Victor

Zander sat cross-legged on the sofa on the train, drinking orange juice and flipping through channels. Kelsi stood behind him, arms crossed.

"Zander, switch to the reapings. I want to see them."

"We're just going to watch them again in half an hour," he protested. But Kelsi leaned over him and snatched the remote from him. Pouting, Zander sat back. There was no arguing with Kelsi. She won the 1st Hunger Games. She outranked everyone.

Kelsi flipped to the District 9 reapings, where Amity Knox was looking miserable in a tight teal dress. She was hurrying through the ceremony, only slowing down to reap Mazie Rye, a brown-haired girl with wide blue eyes, and Oberon Murdoch. A little girl cried out when Oberon was reaped, but the caramel-haired boy stayed composed. 'He's kind of cute', Zander thought.

Then came District 10. A few horses were placed near the stage, and Zander smiled. Horses were cute. He'd come to appreciate them once he won. Arturo Belldam looked less happy though. Signy said he was allergic to horses, which made Zander laugh. He definitely had a bad district assignment!

With a puffy red nose, Arturo reaped a girl named Bess Carver. She was extremely strong, with thick, braided black hair and dark eyes. She was definitely a contender. Her district partner, less so. He was a gangly 15-year-old named Omar. His eyes were wide as he shook hands with Bess.

District 11 brought a volunteer, much to his and Isis O'Hara's surprise. His name was Culter Spring, and he was a tall kid with black curls. His district partner was Soleil Kingston, a small black girl with her hair tied up on top of her head. She looked scared, but not overly so.

District 12 was the saddest district. Zander decided that during his victory tour. Kaz was from District 12 though, and he had been a fighter, so it wasn't all bad. And it also had a volunteer this year.

Morty Sonym was a gaunt boy with ashy skin and dark hair. He didn't say anything after volunteering, just slowly trudged to the stage. And he was instantly overshadowed by his district partner, Samantha Von Hindenburg.

"What is she?" Zander asked, glancing back at Kelsi, who looked just as shocked.

"She must be a conjoined twin," Kelsi said. "Her body fused with her brother's in the womb." Zander wrinkled his nose.

"That sounds uncomfortable," he said. Kelsi just shook her head, exasperated.

"Well, we've got an interesting turnout this year. Now get up. Archibald and Kjole are here."

Hey everyone! Here is the next Chaos Reigns chapter! I'm sorry that it's so repetitive; it's kind of unavoidable with reaping recaps. I hope you liked seeing Zander and Signy. I love these two as victors, so I had fun writing from their perspective. Also, just so everyone knows, I will be jumping to the bloodbath pretty quickly in this story, only after a few Capitol recap chapters. A lot of people have written these characters already and I'm working on another SYOT, so I think this will be the easiest way for me to do it. Hopefully you understand, and if not, oh well. Chaos reigns!

Questions:

1) Which victor's POV did you prefer?

2) If you had to choose a victor right now, who would you choose?

Have a nice day, be kind to each other, and never stop reading!
