Due to lack of interest I'm speeding up the timeline and combining some chapters. I'm not going to expand on some things I originally planned on, but I think it'll provide closure to everyone's story. I've decided after this story I'll probably be moving on from posting stories. I may write but I'm not sure I'll post anything else. Hopefully it won't come off too rushed. There will be 19 chapters in this story by the time it's done, 18 posted on here as the last chapter is pure smut so it won't be on here.
Chapter 6: Butterflies
Naruto and Sasuke had been meeting with the wedding planner for nearly two hours. It was supposed to be over an hour ago, but Naruto was shooting down every concept the man came up with. Sasuke shook his head, knowing his actions were just out of spite for having a wedding planner at all. "Just because we don't have a budget, doesn't mean we want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a wedding.
While Sasuke agreed that he didn't want to spend too much on the wedding, he was also getting annoyed with Naruto's attitude. The wedding planner, Kelly, had provided a variety of ideas. Some were pricy, but others were reasonable, or at least as reasonable as they could be considering how expensive weddings were. Yet Naruto had shot down everything, even the ideas that were similar to his own. Outdoor weddings ran the risk of bad weather. He said theme weddings were too cheesy, as if he hadn't suggested a Halloween wedding before they hired her. Winter weddings were too cold, while summer was too hot. Every suggestion had something wrong with it. "Naruto, can we talk really quick?"
Naruto could tell by his tone that it wasn't really a question. He sighed as he got up, "Fine." He followed Sasuke out of the room to get some privacy. "What?" he asked innocently when Sasuke gave him a look that clearly said he wasn't pleased with the other man.
"You know what, don't act dumb," Sasuke huffed. "Stop saying no to every little thing. Just accept not all of her ideas are bad so we can plan this wedding. Unless you don't want to marry me anymore," he raised an eyebrow, as if he were challenging Naruto to say something dumb.
"That's not fair, you know I want to marry you," Naruto whined.
"Then stop acting like a child and plan this wedding," he argued. "Go in there, look at some venue choices and pick some colors so we can get this started or we just won't get married at all."
He could tell that Sasuke wasn't joking. Naruto could manage to get away with a lot, but he knew his limits. Getting married to the other man was more important than his pride of planning his own wedding. "Sorry, I'll try to listen."
"Good, now get back in there," he ordered. Sasuke looked over towards his bodyguards, both doing their best to pretend like they had ignored the entire conversation. He had forgotten that they had even been waiting outside of the room. "If I can deal with bodyguards you can put up with a wedding planner," he grumbled as they walked back into the room.
Naruto wanted to argue that they were two completely different situations, but he knew better than to do so. "Sorry about that, let's talk about that first venue again," he put on a fake smile.
Kelly surpassed a laugh, knowing exactly what happened in the hallway. She had seen it enough times where one partner had to get the other to cooperate with the process. "It's not too big, but should comfortably fit the number of guests you want for the reception," she told them as she pulled out the brochure for the venue. "There's also a room on site for the actual ceremony so you won't have to leave the venue, as well as, an indoor-outdoor option with a beautiful garden area for the guests if the weather permits," she explained.
Naruto begrudgingly had to agree that it was a beautiful venue. Large enough to have tables for the guests and a dance floor. The garden area was a nice touch and would be a nice spot for wedding photos. "A spring wedding?" Naruto asked, knowing that would be the best time of the year for such a venue.
"That would be my suggestion, yes," she confirmed. "It does get booked fairly quickly, so we'd want to plan ahead for this type of wedding."
They both knew that was code for they'd have to wait at least a year and a half since it was already fall. "That would work best, we still have plenty to plan," Sasuke told her. He looked at Naruto, who just nodded in agreement.
"What colors would go well with the venue?" Naruto asked.
"Given the cherry blossoms, usually I'd say pink, but I don't think you are the kind of couple that wants a pink wedding," she told them. "I would still stick with the pastels though, maybe light blues and purples," she suggested as she showed them pictures of what the gardens looked like during that time of year.
They continued to talk, finally getting some headway on the planning. "We likely won't need you to find a catering service," Naruto informed her. "We have a friend that owns a restaurant who has already offered to give us a good deal," he explained. "We can give you his contact information so you can coordinate with him," he felt grateful to Chouji when the man offered his services, telling them he already planned to open his own local restaurant and would have everything up and running by the time they got married.
"Of course," she smiled. "If that falls through for any reason, I do have some great suggestions," she added.
Naruto just rolled his eyes, earning an elbow to the ribs from his fiancé. "It won't, he's an excellent chief and I'm sure he'll train his staff to be great," he ignored Sasuke, liking to feel at least a little control. They continued to talk about the aspects they would need, with only a few additional snarky remarks from Naruto.
After a long day with the wedding planner, Naruto decided it would be the perfect night to stay in and have a movie marathon. Kiba and Suigetsu had asked if they wanted to join them on a double date. "I was bickering with the wedding planner all day, I don't need to have Sasuke bickering with you all night," the blond had told Kiba. "But thanks." He could tell Kiba was relieved and was likely only inviting them because Suigetsu wanted to. The other man had made multiple attempts to attempt to bridge the gap between Kiba and Sasuke, but it was still a work in progress.
That night Kiba and Suigetsu decided to take a walk in the park after a nice dinner. It was a nice night out, making it perfect for a short stroll to end the night. They still weren't at the point where they'd end the night in bed together, which Kiba had understood and accepted. They were taking it slow, going at Suigetsu's pace. The one thing Kiba hadn't expected was to run into his parents. The tension was high and he squeezed the other man's hand in an attempt to comfort him without words.
"I'm surprised to see you guys here," Kiba smiled at his parents, nervous as to how the conversation would go. They claimed to be fine with the relationship, but it was obvious that they weren't. He wouldn't necessarily call them homophobic when it came to other people, but it was apparently different when it was him. They wanted him to settle down with a nice girl, have children and carry on the family name. He had tried to convince them that between surrogacy and adoption there were plenty of other choices for having a family.
His mother looked at Suigetsu as if she were assessing him. "We thought it'd be a nice night to take the dogs for a little bit of a longer walk," she told them, nodding her head down to the two large white dogs. "Did you just leave yours at home?"
Kiba nodded, "I'll take him later tonight. We just got done eating and decided to take a walk in the park."
"Right, a date," she sighed. "Almost forgot about this whole situation."
"Situation?" Suigetsu clenched his jaw. He wasn't just some temporary situation, or at least he hoped this time would be different. Part of him thought that Kiba wouldn't stand up for him, he'd let his parents act as if he were beneath them.
"What she means is that, she forgot you were dating," his father stepped in. "I mean, no offense, but this isn't exactly the relationship she envisioned for you," he added, his tone condescending.
"We've been over this and you said you were fine with it," Kiba pulled Suigetsu closer to him, surprising the light haired man. "He's not going anywhere so stop treating him like he's somehow below you."
His parents seemed to be just as surprised as Suigetsu. "Of course," his mother said, not happy with her son's reaction. Her face was cold, not even attempting to put on a facade like his father.
"I'll see you at family dinner on Sunday," Kiba told them. "I hope your views change before then," he addd, disappointed with his parents behavior. It seemed like his mother wanted to protest, but he pulled Suigetsu away from them before she could say another word. He loved his parents, but it hurt that they would treat Suigetsu that way. They knew he was trying to prove to the other man that this time would be different and they certainly weren't helping him prove his point. "I'm so sorry," he apologized once they were away from the older couple.
Suigetsu nervously bit his lip, "I honestly didn't expect you to say anything at all."
Kiba frowned, hating his past self for breaking Suigetsu's trust. "I hate that you feel that way," he admitted. "I want you to know I'm there for you, even if they aren't ready to accept that. I love you."
Suigetsu smiled a little, but didn't say it back. They both knew how he felt, but he wasn't quite ready to vocalize it. Saying it almost felt like it meant full forgiveness and he wasn't there yet. "I appreciate that," he told him softly.
"I'm sorry they ruined the night," Kiba couldn't apologize enough for his parent's behavior. He knew that all Suigetsu wanted was acceptance and to feel secure in their relationship. His parents were making it very difficult to show he'd provide what the other man wanted.
"It's okay," he squeezed his hand, though they both knew that it wasn't truly okay. The most important thing was that Kiba was there for him. It wasn't necessarily the way they wanted to end the night, but they decided the mood was broken at that point.
Kiba walked Suigetsu home, never letting go of his hand. It was a quiet walk, but it was a comfortable silence. They were both just enjoying each other's company. "Text me when you get home," Suigetsu instructed when they got to his door.
"I will," he smiled, just happy that Suigetsu was giving him a chance. There was a pause before Suigetsu gave him a light, chaste kiss on the lips. Kiba was surprised, but able to return the kiss before the light haired man pulled away.
"Goodnight," Suigetsu smiled before letting go of the other man's hand.
"Goodnight," Kiba replied as he watched the other man enter his apartment. He butterflies as he walked away, the grin never leaving his face as he made his way home.

Itachi and Kurama were drunk at the bar. Perhaps it had been a bad idea to go out drinking. Itachi had just wanted to get his mind off of his failed relationship and Kurama was there to listen. "Why does he have to make me the bad guy?" Itachi continued to drink. "We grew apart and our relationship wasn't really the healthiest from the start."
"Forget about him," Kurama slurred a little. "Not worth your time." He could usually hold his alcohol pretty well, but he'd lost count of the number of drinks he'd had that night. His phone had been going off almost constantly with Shukaku asking where he was. Even though he wasn't really doing anything wrong, it still felt wrong. He knew Shukaku would be upset that he was out with Itachi.
"You know, back when we first me I thought about going for you instead of him," the dark haired man admitted. "Kisame's antics were getting old and you were cute and interested, then he finally said he wanted to be with me and I guess I just thought that's how it was supposed to be. I succeeded in making him jealous." He'd never told anyone that before, but it was true. He had been interested in the redhead when they first met. Between him being Naruto's brother and Kisame finally acting on his feelings, it just felt weird to pick Kurama at the time.
"Maybe it was the right person, but wrong time," Kurama moved closer.
"Are you the right person?" Itachi asked, neither of them even thinking about the fact that Kurama had a boyfriend. It was as if he'd been forgotten for a moment.
"I don't know, am I?" he asked, both of them leaning in. It was like something snapped in his brain before they kissed. "Fuck, I can't do this," he pushed the other man away. "I have a boyfriend."
Itachi's eyes widened, "I'm sorry." Neither had been thinking, they were just purely acting on instinct. "I think we should call it a night," he suddenly felt far more sober than he had a moment ago.
"This was a bad idea," Kurama said.
"Or maybe just the wrong time," Itachi responded as he ordered himself an Uber. "Do you want me to order you an Uber, too?" he asked. The tension filled the air, both feeling an attraction towards the other but knowing it'd be wrong to act on it. Itachi wouldn't be the other person and Kurama would never cheat. Being drunk was no excuse and he needed to figure out what he wanted while sober.
"I can order my own," there was an awkward silence between them before they decided it was best for them to each wait alone. They needed to sober up and work out their feelings. The needed to figure out if they were just emotional and looking for comfort because of their own relationship problems or if they really felt something.
When Kurama got home he thought about keeping what happened to himself. He wondered what would happen if he kept it to himself, but communication was supposed to be the key to a healthy relationship. "We need to talk," he cut to the chase as he sat next to Shukaku on the couch. They weren't close enough to touch. It didn't feel right to sit that close after what had happened that night.
"What's going on?" Shukaku was concerned. Those words were never something you wanted to hear from your significant other. He knew that they had been having problems, but didn't think it was something they'd break up over.
"Look, after what I'm about to say I'll understand if you hate me," he told him. He may not have actually cheated but thinking about it was almost as bad and the feelings he had were even worse. Physical cheating because of lust was one thing, feelings were on a different level.
"What'd you do?" he asked, shifting even further away from the other man.
"I almost cheated on you," he confessed. "Nothing actually happened, but it almost did. I feel horrible." His heart broke when he saw that the other man couldn't even look at him. "I love you, but," he wasn't even sure how to finish his sentence. There should be no 'but' when it comes to love.
"It's Itachi, isn't it?" he asked, though he already knew the answer. Kurama didn't have to vocalize it, his body language said everything he needed to know. "So much for not having to worry about him," Shukaku shook his head. "Just a friend," he added bitterly.
"When I said that, I meant it," he tried to move closer, but Shukaku just moved away. "Somewhere between now and then something happened. Not physically, but emotionally, I guess. I don't know what to do to make this right. I love you, but tonight part of me wanted him."
Shukaku shook his head, "There's nothing you can do to make this right. Nothing about this is right. You're telling me you want someone else, how do you expect me to move on from that?" Kurama knew he couldn't argue with what the other man was saying. "You need to figure out what you want, but don't expect me to just come back to you when you do."
"Baby, please, we can work this out," Kurama tried, though he wasn't even sure if he wanted to work it out.
"Don't call me baby. You know as well as I do we can't just get past this," the other man got up. "I hope you know you're making a mistake with him. He'll never put you first, between work and his brother, there will always be something else."
"Maybe it's a mistake I just have to make," Kurama blurted out, getting defensive. "I don't even know if I want something with him, but you clearly don't want to try to work it out between us," maybe it was wrong to blame Shukaku, but he was the one that didn't want to try. Kurama wanted to talk it out, to try to figure out what was wrong with their relationship, "We were already falling apart, weren't we?"
"What?" Shukaku didn't expect him to say that. He expected him to fight more.
"You don't want to fight for us so clearly this has been done for a while," he told him. "If I were happy I wouldn't be feeling this way and if you were happy you'd want to at least try to figure this out. It's been a matter of how this was going to happen, not if," he realized. The alcohol that was still flowing through his system, but he was sober enough to know it was over.
The other man just sighed, "I'm going to stay at a friends house. Good luck." They didn't say anything else as the man packed his things, calling a friends to find a place to stay.
Once he was gone, Kurama couldn't bring himself to sleep in what was once their bed. It felt wrong after what he had done so he'd made himself sleep on the couch. He stayed up for hours, unable to fall asleep as he stared at the ceiling, left alone with his thoughts.
