"Jack it's good to see you again!" The large round headed skeleton in a black striped suit stocked forward with exuberant strides. Beside him a adult sized rag-doll walked with her arm interlocked with his.
"Jack, Sally! Right back at you!" Jack Frost walked over casually holding his staff across his shoulder. "How has the last year treated you? Halloween town in good shape?"
"You know it!" The skeleton said.
"You're not trying to steal any holidays again are you?"
That got a hearty laugh from the skeleton, added to the effect was the rattle of his bones as he shook, and a slight giggle from the rag-doll.
"Vhat do you mean steal holidays?" Asked North nervously.
Jack Frost turned around and smiled, "oh just that Jack skellington here has a reputation for trying to get holidays that aren't his own. All thanks to a little movie by Tim Burton."
"The whole situation was completely blown out of proportion." Jack skellington assured. "I'm not entirely sure how Tim got a hold of my story but he certainly liked to run with it. He did however get the fact that I love to perform to a T!"
"Why don't you show them Jack?" The rag-doll said.
"Excellent idea Sally!" Jack wrapped his bony arms around her and planted a kiss on her stitched lips. "But only if you join." He teased her by poking her nose with one of his finger bones.
Sally walked a step back and curtsied. "I'd be happy to Jack."
The two walked hand-in-hand towards the stage. Jack skellington took the microphone and suddenly his voice dropped several octaves. (1) "Beware the full moon, stick to the path. Outcome the creatures, a spine chilling laugh. Ahaahahah Ahaahahah!"
Tooth shivered! "He's not kidding."
Sally started to sway back and forth her rag-doll hands creating quite the ghostly wave. "There's a chill in the air."
Jack skellington still in his deep voice echoed her. "Chill in the air."
"You hear a creek on the stair."
"Creek on the stair."
"You gotta lock all your doors."
"Lock all your doors."
"Is there anybody out?"
Sally stopped swaying and all the sudden seemed to lose all use of her limbs. She dropped like the rag doll she was to the floor, and then started to crawl forward very much like something digging its way out of the ground. As she did she continued to sing; calling about how the creatures were coming to capture, how they were howling and prowling towards their shivering and quivering pray.
Sally jumped back up and then started pointing out individuals in the crowd. Jack and her shouted: "You cannot run and you cannot hide. Things go bump in the night! Wherever you run and whatever you hide things go bump bump bump in the night!"
The waving dance resumed as Sally and Jack continued their echoing.
"Tell me who's spooking you?"
"Who's spooking you?"
"It's very Scooby Doo."
"Scooby Doo."
"You hear a shriek in the house."
"Shriek in the house."
"You know it's freaking you out!"
Sally dropped again crawling forward then jumped up and the two rag-doll/skeletal soulmates began to shout and sing again in their Hauntingly harmonious voices.
Sally started to quietly, almost non-audibly, chant: "you're spooking."
At the same time Jack released another of his deep throated laughs.
Almost a second after the laughed finished Jack skellington started to chant himself. "They go bump, they go bump, they go... They go bump, they go bump, they go..."
Sally then held out her hands to everyone and said: "you cannot run and you cannot hide. Yeah you gotta face it baby things go bump bump bump in the night!"
Jack then joined in with: "you know wherever you run and wherever you hide. Yet you gotta face it baby things go bump bump bump in the night!"
They repeated the chorus one more time and then somehow the sound of a door closing and locking shut ended the song.
"How the Crikey did they do that?" Bunny exclaimed fur still puffed out a bit from fear.
Jack Frost looked over his shoulder at them his eyes looking not quite as friendly as usual. It almost seemed as if they looked a bit predatory. "You never quite know what strange things will happen when this lot of characters comes to play."
The nightmare before Christmas, Halloween town, Jack skellington, and Sally belonged to Tim Burton. I claim no ownership of them.
