"I got another one for you. What you say to a little African legend?" Jokul asked.
"Yes please!" Kovu said excitedly.
He wasn't the only one both spooky and non-spooky the younger legends and myths crowded around Jack feet.
(1) "very well!" Frosti put Kovu down in front of him and swung his staff, the icicles had retreated to revealed the shepherd's crook again, in exaggerated arcs. "On a night such as this, with the full moon up high." The moon broke through the clouds and shined down exaggerating shadows all around the clearing. "A creature comes out, with a bright haunting cry." A cry that didn't sound like anything someone could identify rang out.
The shadows lengthened and then seemed to swirl creating the Being as Jokul described it. "It towers above you, Tall is two giraffes. And as it approaches oh how it laughs! HA!"
All the young ones jumped and even backed up a bit. "So beware all you young ones! You're in for a fright." Something sounded behind them but when they turned there was nothing. "Something is lurking but just out of sight. You won't hear it coming, though try as you might." Kovu jumped as his tail was tugged. When he turned he saw Jokul not more than an inch from his face. "So beware of the Zimwi, beware of the Zimwi tonight."
The moon's light lessened a bit and the shadows dispersed but that didn't stop Jokul from continuing to grow the Zimwi's presence in the young ones minds. "Big spikes has the Zimwi, and yes it moves fast!"Spikes of ice grew around the gathered group and something seemed to be darting from one to the next before you could get a good look at it. "With eight legs on its body, each bigger than the last. It's teeth are sharper than a crocs so I've heard but those who have seen it never speak another word."
As he sang the chorus again the spikes grew darker and the something seemed to get closer. More than a few of them got tapped on the shoulder or had a limb gently tugged. Then the ice seemed to instantly changed to a cold steam. The only thing the kids could see was the white fog until a bright yellow light appeared and lit up a creepy face from below. "Beware of the Zimwi tonight!"
"Boo!"
The young ones screamed at the sudden loud proclamation. A spiky maned hyena laughed at them and a yellow pixi left it's spot under Jokul's chin removing the effect. The older audience joined in and then finally the young ones to.
After the kind, albeit scary, care that Jokul had shown to Kovu the guardians could now see Jack was in there.
"What I tell you! Nothing to worry about." Jasper said.
"True," North agreed his hand on his beard. "But what was that you said about zera breaking the rules?"
"Oh," Tiffa said. "She's not supposed to challenge Jokul more than once per night. She's not supposed to challenge Jack Frost at all. She can't fight with any backup has to be one-on-one. And a few others but you get the idea."
"But she breaks these rules?"
As if to answer his question something jumped out of the clearing fog and tackled Jokul.
