Before anyone could walk off the dance floor, Little D started a new beat on his drums. (1) Corena purred and started shuffling in a new dance move. Kovu eagerly followed her lead.
Jokul took on an accent as he started to sing. "I was working in the lab, late one night, when my eyes beheld an eerie sight."
Corena dropped to the ground on her belly and as the song spoke of a monster rising she slowly did the same, spreading her wings wide. Kovu watched her intently and played a little Simon dose. The twins sang the chorus as Corena flapped her wings in a paddling motion perfectly in time with the bending of her legs.
"He did the mash!"
"He did the monster mash."
"The monster mash."
"It was a graveyard smash."
"He did the mash."
"It caught on in a flash."
"He did the mash."
"He did the monster mash."
The dance partners were circling again as they danced, each in their own way, to the song.
"The ghouls all came from their humble abodes to get a jolt from my electrodes!"
Everyone pretended to be shocked by electricity, jerking and staggering around. Then in a blink the paddle and bend move continued. Kovu was feeling much more confident and Jokul was grinning as he continued.
As their names were called werewolves, zombes, and vampires came to join the band on the stage.
"The scene was rocking, all were dinging the sounds. Egor on chains backed by his baying hounds."
Chains rattled like maracas and hounds howled alongside the chorus singers.
At this point the paddle bend move changed to a twist, catching Kovu off guard. He quickly recovered though and followed Corena's lead, moving his front and back ends in opposite directions- but not fully making a turn- with his feet firmly planted.
"My monster mash is now the hit of the land! For you the living this mash is meant for too. When you get to my door tell them Jokul sent you!"
Freestyle dancing broke out again and the music faded till it was gone.
"Nicely done!" Corena complimented the lion cub.
"Thank you!" Kovu couldn't help the slight but none the less excited swish of his tail.
