Sam looked exhausted and cast-fallen. It was obvious to all who knew him that he hated it when someone was lost to the other side, even if those people had tried to do the same to others.

Jokul came to Sam's side and put an arm around his shoulders. "You did good Hain! Faciliar was gone long before you arrived. It's not your fault."

Sam nodded.

Jokul then gave the teen a light smack on the back of the head. "Now come on enough of this dark stuff. Let's roll out something new!" He took a roll or paper towels off a nearby food stand and then tossed it into the air causing it to unroll and make a mess. He then smashed a few gourds from the headless horseman's spares and finally dropped a sugar cube into everyone's hand.

Two voices shouted at him in annoyance at the same time that Jack groaned at him in his head. "What are you doing?"

Jokul looked to his right to see a girl and boy staring at him with their arms crossed and their feet tapping in aggravation.

"What? I thought a few light hearted Halloween things would…"

"Seriously!" The girl cried. Her black hair in braided pigtails. She was dressed in a pristine uniform, complete with skirt, that looked like something from a prep-school. Her pockets were full of a variety of items. "You think this is light hearted?"

"You have a lot to learn buddy!" The boy tisked. He was wearing a blue shirt with a large T on the front and red pants. A cape hung from his shoulders that matched his blond hair. Absentmindedly he licked a lolly pop.

"Hay it's Trick and Treat!" Several of the younger festival goers crowded around the girl and boy. High fives and handshakes were exchanged.

Jokul landed looking confused. "You have got to pay closer attention when we go out on Halloween Jokul." Jack said in his mind.

Noticing the winter spirit looking at them the girl, Trick, asked: " Would you like us to explain?"

"No, no, no, no, no…" Jokul acted like he had everything under control, that is until he looked at the skeptical faces of not only Trick and Treat but the young ones around them. "Yes."

(1) So Trick and Treat helped clean up the paper towels and gourds as they talked to Jokul about decorations, jack o'lanterns, and-the all time best part-trick or treating.

Jokul's eyes sparkled, undeniably similar to Jack's when he found a fun filled opportunity. "I think I understand I think I get the knack. It's just a way to get free candy, what a racket! You need to stop at every house, don't pass even one! You got to make the most of this while it's still going on."

Treat smiled and nodded. "Door to door, just asking for candy. On any other night it would be panhandling. I think you know what I mean."

Trick giggled as she walked passed the food stalls, her hands zipping in and out of her pockets. "Look at the candy, look at this loot. Just avoid that stall, you see their giving out fruit But right next door they have full size candy bars." The fruit stall suddenly started to shake, apples and pairs flying as the stall manager looked under it and pulled out a pulley contraption with a T initialed on it. Trick giggled so hard she fell on her bottom. At that moment the candy bar stand was encased in smoke. When it cleared the candy was gone, and Treat had chocolate all over his face.

The young ones joined in now showing off the costumes that they had brought along in case Trick and Treat showed up. From glasses with big noses and mustaches to full little red riding hoods stood next to paper and glue creations and fabrics with holes in them.

"So live it up fokes! Tonight is Halloween!" Jokul, Trick, and Treat all sang together to the cheers and candy throwing crowd.
