"Come on Anansi." Douglas told the spider, giving him a light nug. "Their having a good time."
Anansi shied and acknowledged the Jackalop's words with a nod. "I know you're right but I can't help but worry when they go on like that. Every time they sing that song I fear someone will get hurt!"
(1) A whistling came from the ground and the spider looked down to see tiny people were coming his way. No bigger than your average eraser in size they continued to hum and whistle as they lined up in front of them.
"Here's a little song I wrote, you might want to sing it note for note, don't worry be happy!" A man in the group stepped out front and took the lead vocal. "In every life we have some trouble, but when you worry you make it double! So don't worry be happy!"
Three women started in on a backup "oooooo" and swayed to the man's side.
"We are the worry dolls from Guatemala, we listen to your worries and take them away as you lay your head down at night. Don't worry be happy!"
The dolls continued to list areas that people worry and then confronted them with the continued assurance of "Don't worry, be happy!"
The lead singer came forward with the woman going back into the group. "Cause when you worry your face will frown and that will bring everybody down. Don't worry be happy!"
This time when the "oooooo's" started there was a chores from Douglas, the rainbow spirits, the other african legends, the people who had come to listen to Anansi's stories, and the Guardians.
"So Anansi," The lead man said. "What do you say?"
The spider conceded with a smile and joined in. "Don't worry, be happy!"
The worry dolls are a tradition for little kids to whisper their worries to the little dolls and put them under their pillows. By the morning the worry doll will have taken the worry away and given the child the insight into how to confront the problem they face.
