As Bunny was drying off his ears shot up at a familiar but, to him at least, annoying song starting up.
(1) "Here comes peter Cottontail."
"Oh no! NO, who is singing that!" Bunny growled.
As it turned out it was a crowd of rabbits. Tan, white, gray, speckled, black, and Dalmatian in color the hopped along at the feet a women in flowing flower robes. The Germanic 'goddess' of spring Eastre or Ostara, whichever you prefer, was strolling into the clearing.
"There are jelly beans for Tommy, Cadbury eggs for sister sue. There's an orchid for your mommy and and Easter bonnet too."
As the bunny's sang the grass seemed to grow greener by the moment. "Hippity hoppity, Happy Easter Day!"
Bunny was shocked to see Eastre, the last time was well into the 8th century. She had taken a back seat so to say when the spring equinox shifted to Easter day, but she had gone willingly as she knew Bunny would keep the belief of new life alive as it coincided with Hope.
She turned to him and smiled as she sang a less know verse of the song. "You'll wake up on Easter Morning and you'll know that he's been there. When you find those chocolates that he's hiding everywhere."
For once Bunny found himself smiling at the silly song. So much so that he joined her perception and sang along. "Oh, here comes Peter Cottontail, hoping down the Bunny Trail. Hippity hoppity Happy Easter Day!"
As clapping ensued, Eastre gave Bunny a hug. "It is good to see you Aster!"
Happy Palm Sunday! Sorry for the delayed post, yesterday was busier then I thought. May this Easter week be full of hope!
