"Well sang my fair Lady!" A boisterous voice called as a man in chain mail came forward.
Jack got up and gave a deep bow to the man before him. "Hello Sir Michael!"
"Please Jack," the man said. "No need for formalities here."
"Sir Michael?" Bunny asked.
"From the story of The Knight Michael and the Dragon." Jack explained as he straightened up. "The story that is based off the War of the Angels, telling of the angel Michael who defeated Satan."
Bunny looked confused but before Jack could give a role Sir Michael laughed heartily. "It is fine, My story is from very long ago and has been reformatted a few times. Perhaps you know me by my other name, St. George."
This explanation gained a few of Shocked whispers from those who had never connected the dots in the past.
"Michaelmas is still celebrated in a few places. It is for that reason that I still have a place which I am grateful for, that the story and the meaning behind it remain true to this day."
"Why don't you tell us the story Sir. Michael?" Jack suggested.
"Yes please do!" North encouraged.
Sir Michael bowed his head respectfully and called forth a Traveling musician that had accompanied him. Dressed like the Minstrels of the knights era-complete with hat, baggy pants, and vest-the man Bowed, sweeping his hat across the Ground, then brought a flute to his lips and began to play.
(1) "A Knight and a lady went riding one day, Far into the forest away. Fair knight, said the lady, I pray to have a care for this forest is evil beware!" Sir Michael sang as the minstrel Played his soft tune. "A fiery red dragon they spied on the grass, Causing the lady to weep sorely alas. The night so the Dragon the lady was gay, They rode on together far away."
The band picked up with a slightly faster tune. As the minstrel and them performed, Sir Michael started to walk around as he went into a deeper version of the story.
(2) "There was a Dragon, a Dragon, who called all kinds of grief. A Dragon, a Dragon, a bully and a thief! He demanded food, the best young lambs for the slaughter, and then one day he roared that he would eat the king's daughter."
Sir Michael gave a whistle and a white horse with a shield and lands attached to its saddle seemed to materialize from the trees. Sir Michael mounted and began to enact the very words he sang. "The Dragon moved to face St. George who turned his shields to the plunged his lance into the dragon's Dragon fell with a terrible roar, the village was freed from the Dragon's rain and George he became a saint."
Sir Michael dismounted once again, making sure his shield and lands were securely tucked in his horse's saddle. Then he turned and gave a deep bow right alongside his minstrel.
Michaelmas is not a holiday I know much about. But I wanted to do a couple of holidays that are from different parts of the world as well as holidays that I celebrate. Please forgive me if I misunderstood the holiday of Michaelmas. My research shows that it's a day to celebrate Courage and the Archangel Michael who is the one to have said to have fought against Satan himself in the great battle of angels and fallen angels. It also celebrates the many other angels of Christian belief. The story of the knight and the dragon based off of Christian beliefs remind me of St. Gorge and for this story I combined the two.
