Spontaneous Magic

This Harry Potter story was written for fun. All rights belong to the wonderful lady (JK Rowling) who gave the world Harry Potter to read and enjoy. Love the movies showing again on TV for the holidays.

++***++ Introduction:

Accidental magic is a problem for all young wizards and witches, especially when they are distressed or scared. Freak begins to despair at age five because no one notices him or cares for him. When he is taken from his cupboard and knows 'Aunt Tuna' and 'Unc Vern' plan to desert him at a hospital, the small boy's fear causes his magic to react spontaneously.

Being adopted into a magical family in England gives 'Frank' the love and safety he needs to stave off expression of uncontrollable magic. His adoptive parents learn a great deal about their son when they blood adopt him using the services of the Goblins.

In 1991, when Frank boards the Hogwarts Express, he meets many children who believe that 'Harry Potter' is dead. His adventures at Hogwarts create many situations where his powerful uncontrollable magic reacts.

This story should be twelve chapters long, ending in sixth year without any romantic relationships in place but lots of magic thrown about. The Weasleys really won't figure in the story very much but Neville, Hermione and Luna will be friends. Dumbledore (BASH), Sirius (BASH), and Pureblood characters (BASH BASH) to help move the story along.

Chapter 02 A Family for Frank

Technically, John Scott was a royal pureblood – his family was descended from Lucy Walter, the witch mistress of Charles II while he was King of England. His father had very little magic but his grandfather for whom he was named, had been a wizard.

The grandfather, also named John Scott, the 10th Duke of Bristol, had been educated at Hogwarts until he took his Owls but then he'd left Magical Britain to prepare for university. The duke's wife was a muggle and he was not disappointed that his children were not full-fledged wizards and witches. When his youngest son's grandson was born magical, the duke ensured the boy went to Hogwarts prepared for the magical world and supported the boy when young John chose to leave after his fifth year.

The younger John married Gwendolyn Hatcher, a muggleborn witch who had been in Hufflepuff while John had been in Ravenclaw. She left after taking her Owls and joined John at university. Their two children were magical and currently attended Hogwarts, their daughter in Ravenclaw and her brother in Hufflepuff. Daisy would take her Owls this year and Roger would take them in two years. Eventually, both children would resign from Hogwarts for the real world and prepare for university.

But John and Gwen wanted to do more to help the other magical students leaving the world that didn't really want them. John worked with the government offices that helped the muggleborn find jobs, education and homes before deciding if they want to relocate to another country.

Gwen worked with Children's Services and specialized in finding homes for magical 'orphans' when muggle families reacted poorly to the manifestation of their child's power. One out of ten muggleborn was being dumped at an orphanage before age six. There was no one who reached out to the muggle parents to help them understand their 'strange' children.

And after reviewing the file on 'Frank', Gwen brought the boy to her husband's attention to the child and asked if they could adopt him.

"Gringotts can perform a blood adoption and we'll give him a good home."

"And set an example for other families?" John asked.

Gwen nodded but added, "I want another child. It is lonely here when the kids are gone to school."

John Scott bent over and kissed his wife before he said, "Gwen, my dear enchantress, you're wish is my command."

BREAK SCENE ++***++

Healer Andromeda Tonks worked tirelessly to help MI-5 with injured muggleborns and she specialized in treating children who were traumatized by their family's reactions to magic. Using a persona of 'Dr. Tack' to hide her connection to Magical Britain, she seldom became personally involved with patients to protect them and her family.

Her daughter would begin Hogwarts in another year and Ted was pushing for the family to immigrate to the States to get their daughter out of the cesspool that was Magical Britain.

"As a witch with metamorphic powers, Dora will be courted by every boy from every house! Even the purest pureblood will want her as a concubine or mistress to give his 'family blood' that power. She'll be turned into a brood mare before she is seventeen if we stay here!" argued Ted.

Andromeda sighed and replied, "You are right. I have tried to help make up for my sisters and family…they have harmed so many innocents."

An attorney, Ted was aware of many of the atrocities that occurred in the terrorist uprising of Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He had an idea of the steps that the muggle military would take once the government decided to move against Magical Britain.

"You can still be Dr. Tack on occasion and visit to help the children," he assured his wife.

++***++ Break and Change Scene

After two weeks, Andromeda Tonks met with John and Gwen Scott one last time.

"I hear you're leaving England, Healer Tonks," Gwen said once the couple were seated across from the witch at her desk. "You're work as Dr. Tack has helped many children and their parents so you'll be missed."

Nodding her head once, Andromeda admitted, "My husband and I want to settle our daughter in another environment before she begins school next year. Hogwarts would not be good for her with my family history."

No one felt the need to discuss Healer Tonks' connection to Bellatrix Lestrange and the other members of the Black family.

"But let's not talk about me. Tell me about how you are getting on with Frank," Andromeda said to direct the conversation away from her plans.

"Frank looks forward to our visits now," John said. "I saw him with Gwen three times and we took him out of the hospital on Saturday for a visits to the zoo and a meal."

"I see him every day," Gwen replied. "I help him with some lessons and play games."

"Does he only see you as a playmate?" asked Andromeda.

"No," Gwen assured the healer. "We are working on chores too. We fold laundry for the hospital each day and sweep the floors of the hall using regular brooms."

"When will you talk to him about living with you?"

"Today if you approve our application," John replied. "Our kids return from school in three days and we want Frank to have two months as a part of our entire family before Daisy and Robert go back to school on 1 September."
