"Call him. Ask him to meet up," Deeks said to Julia.
"I shouldn't break up with him?" she asked, confused.
"No. Right now, we need to avoid making him mad. Tell him I own a bar, ask if he wants to go there. We open at six, that'll give us plenty of time to prepare," he said. Julia nodded a little and reached for her phone.
"Act natural. Nothing is wrong. It's gonna be fine," Kensi reassured her. Julia nodded and slowly picked up the phone. "Put it on speaker," Kensi whispered. Julia nodded and slowly began dialing. Kensi walked over to Deeks and gently squeezed his hand. Deeks gently wrapped his arm around her and kissed her head.
"Hello, my love," a familiar voice said through the phone. Kensi paled, but Deeks was quick to hug her again.
"Shh. Shh. Stay quiet, it's okay," Deeks mouthed to Kensi, who was trembling at the sound of his voice.
"Hi, David," Julia began. She was obviously disgusted at the idea of sweet-talking him. "Um, I was just wondering if you wanted to go out tonight," she said, trying to keep her voice positive. Deeks nodded encouragingly. "Um, my son-in-law owns a bar, we could go there?" she offered. "They open at six. Okay! See you then," she said. once she hung up, she went right over to Kensi and Deeks.
"Julia, we have to ask you some questions about him now. We're going to use this date as a sting operation, okay? That means that you're going to have to go in, but I promise we won't let anything happen to you. Our team is going to be there, as well as LAPD and whoever else we can get. The other agents are here, so we're going back to ops to get ready. Don't go outside, don't open any windows, and no guests, even if we know them. Absolutely no visitors, Mom," Deeks said.
"Why are you saying it to me? Julia's the one who decided to date a rapist!" Mrs. Deeks protested.
"Hey! None of this. We will figure it out. I'm going to have one of the agents ask you some questions, and I need you to tell the truth, okay? He's not going to be able to hurt you," Deeks said. He took Kensi's hand in his and they left.
