Just rewatched Madagascar 2, and my sister gave me this AU idea I couldn't ignore.

FYI Heavy mentions of Skilene

The table was silent as Skipper glared at the photos- and Kowalski- in front of him. He grinds his beak together as he feels Mason's smug smile bore into him as the others- Melman, Gloria, Marty, Kowalski, Rico, and Private- watch the penguin think over the loud clanging from the other chimps.

"Fine. You can have your maternity leave." Skipper narrowed his eyes before standing up to address the work force of chimps behind them.

"Alrighty, Boys." Skipper whistled to the penguins and the chimps. The chimps stopped their mayhem at the sound of Skipper's command. "Let's get 'er in the air faster than you mammals," He side-eyes Phil and Mason, "Can blackmail me."

"Sir," Kowalski whispered, trying to hide his snicker, "They already did."

"Nevermind that, Kowalski." Skipper glares at his brother. "Private! Rico! Meet me in the pilot control room. Kowalski, get those hippies on board then meet us back in the pilot's chair. Rest of you chimps, get to work. That's an order, soldiers." Skipper directed.

The three other birds saluted to their leader before running- waddling- to their positions. The chimps rush onto the ship; they somehow avoid bumping into the large quadrupeds in their way.

"Hey! Wait a minute!" Marty calls Skipper. "What can we do!"

"Listen to Kowalski, and await my command!" Skipper shouts from across the land.

Kowalski sighs, and turns to the other party as the airplane begins to start up. "You heard the Skipper." A metal clang interrupts the 2nd-in-command, "Follow me."

The mammals climb into the aircraft with the tallest penguin in the lead.

"Say, Kowalski." Marty tries to strike up a conversation over the noise, "What's with Skipper and that doll anyway?"

The bird continues to walk, only saying one word- Skipper's favorite: "Classified."

Gloria groans, "Is there anything with you birds that isn't classified?"

"No, but I can tell you that doll means a lot to Skipper. This way." Kowalski walks through the array of chimps and to the front of the ship.

"Kind of got that feeling." Melman blurts out as he stares at all of the machinery. "Do I need my inhaler… There seems to be a lot of smoke."

"Probably, but I doubt you have on now." Kowalski shrugs.

"Just hang on, baby." Gloria pats the giraffe's back.

"We're also putting you up high, so the smoke will be easier to avoid. Gloria, Melman. You'll be up here." The penguin showed the two the tall box where the steering wheel sat. "Marty, you'll help get the lions out of the ground and in the air." Kowalski led the Zebra away as Melman and Gloria began their climb.

"I still want to know Skipper's deal with that doll." Marty says.

Kowalski sighs, "I suppose I can tell you; this isn't groundbreaking news, and I doubt you would ever use this information for evil. The doll was a gift from Skipper's wife, Marlene."

"You mean the otter? From one of the corner habitats?"

"Precisely. The two are, in technical terms, mates."

"How come she didn't come ago? Why would Skipper leave her?"

"We tried to avoid sharing our plan to travel home to Marlene until I could find a way to solve her "littlefoot" problem. That is, until she found out during a secret meeting brief. They had a fight. And when they made up, Marlene told us, him, to leave- that she'll wait for him as he did her. She handed him the doll, and something classified, as a goodbye gift. Since we discovered the ugliness of Antarctica, Skipper has missed her since." Kowalski looked down at the ground below as the plane ascended. "I better get to the captain's quarters before Skipper marches over for my tail feathers."

"One more thing, Kowalski."

"Yes?"

"If the gift is from his wife, then what's with the photos of Skipper kissing the doll? And the "dates?""

"Ah, that's a long story. In short, Marlene and Skipper always have had dumb jokes with each other in the past- that probably bled into the photos." Kowalski chuckles, "But I can assure you, Skipper has no intention of marrying a plastic doll… Now, good luck getting your friend up here."

Kowalski begins to stride to the front of the ship as Marty thanks him. There, he sees Skipper talking to the hula doll holding a small object in his flipper. "We're good to go, sir."

"Good." Skipper snaps out of his trance and grabs the microphone. "Let's get a move on!"

The ship tilts as Gloria turns the ship in the right direction. Skipper continues to shout orders, and Kowalski is able to see the object in his hands. He smiles as he watches his brother grip a small, shiny pebble.

The timeline in this fic/AU is rather strange, but I'll explain it quickly! And thank you for reading!

Marlene and Skipper are together - Madagascar trilogy - The Penguins of Madagascar spin off - The Penguins of Madagascar tv show

This was actually suppose to be kind of angsty (Like Marlene is dead, and Skipper uses the doll she gave him to cope,, might write that sometime)
