Chapter 12: Ocean Alert
The rangers are hanging out at Hailey's while Tommy is talking to Bloom at home about her little display at the dig site.
"Check it out, it says here that brain waves are electrical impulses that converted into a binary language could be downloaded." Ethan said from his computer while the twins sat there bored out of their minds. "Man, I can't believe dad took away our computers. We didn't even do anything wrong" Alex complained from her seat infront of the red ranger. "I've read about that. It means your eyes could become the video cameras of the future" Trent said from the counter. "Never mind, No one's listening to me" Alex said and laid her head on her folded arms. "Geek TV. I wonder if we'll become part of basic cable" Conner said obviously not caring.
On the other side of the café, Cassidy and Devon sit at a table while searching for a new story. "Come on Devin, there has to be something that hasn't been done to death?" Cassidy asked. "We need something big and something fresh" she said. Devin turned the computer around and smiled. "I got it" he said and the screen showed a picture of a pumpkin. "Woman in Iowa raises a 250 pound pumpkin" she reads from the article and Devin nods. "Well Cass, you got to admit it's fresh and it's really big" Devin said.
Just then the doors opened and a woman in red with really fake looking hair walked into the café. "Nikki Valentina!" she exclaimed and the twins looked up. "Ugh, her again" Rose said as she rolled her eyes.
"Yeah right Cass, like the biggest TV star in the world is gonna…" he turns around and his jaw hits the floor. Kira turns around and smiles. "Hey, isn't that the girl from Ocean Alert?" she asked. "Yeah, and she's a real snob too" Alex said and Conner looked at her. "How would you know that?" he asked. "I just know these things about people. You'll see, just keep watching" she said sipping her smoothie.
"The most popular TV show of all time, does anyone have a paper bag, I'm hyperventilating" Ethan said. "Oh please." Rose said. As she walked around the café acting like she was on a runway, Ethan started breathing into a bag he suddenly found.
Hayley walked up to her uber excited. "Welcome to Hayley's Cyberspace. What can I get you?" she asked. "I'm just dying for a wheatgrass shake with a twist of lemon" Valentina said and Hayley sighed. "Sorry, we just ran out of wheat grass. How about a banana-berry smoothie" Hayley asked and Alex walked up to her with her shake. "Oh was this the last wheat grass shake? Darn, guess Ms. Perfect can't get everything she wants" Alex said with a smile. "Alex" Valentina said. "Valery" she said and the model glared at her. "What are you doing here?" Valentina asked. "I live in this town. I suggest you go back to the circus where you belong and have bozo fix your makeup. It definitly needs an improvement." Alex said and everyone gasped. Ethan and the others, besides Rose, were shocked and watched this exchange with their jaws on the floor. "Never mind, I'm over this place" Nikki said and when she turned around Rose pulled Alex back to her seat. Cassidy suddenly appeared infront of Valentina and held the microphone up to her. "Ms. Valentina, Cassidy Cornell Reefside reporter. I am a huge fan" she said but Nikki didn't care. "Of course you are." she said. "Someday I'm gonna be a huge star too, but I'll be a news anchor, but maybe we could work together. I know I can be on ocean alert" Cassidy said. "Honey, you better get yourself a new dream, cause being me, that's mine. And I'm not sharing" she said but before she could walk out, Alex walked up to her and turned her around. "Just cause you're a big star, doesn't mean you can bully other people around. Or do you want me to tell everyone who cheated in that celebrity kendo tournament 6 years ago?" Alex asked and Valentina walked out while her pose glared at her. Cassidy smiled at her and Alex nodded before walking to her friends.
Ethan and the others were shell shocked when Alex came back. "I have to meet her or my life won't be complete." Ethan said. "She's nothing special, she's just an over-sold, self-obsessed, doesn't care about anyone's feelings, witch!" Alex exclaimed and her glass shattered in her stone grip. The glass was repaired with a snap of her fingers, and her hand was healed. Trent walked up to Kira and wiped his hands off. "My shift is officially over, ready to go?" Trent asked. "Where are you two headed?" Ethan asked. "Trent's gonna show me sketches he's done for the cover of my demo" Kira said. Just then his phone rang. Trent pulled it out of his pocket and sighed. "Let me guess, your dad?" Kira asked, "Yeah, he needs me at home, I'm really sorry" Trent said.
Dino thunder base/Oliver residence
Tommy was sitting at the computer while Bloom sat beside him with her legs propped up on his lap. "Honey, do you really think that Dino-zord egg is out there?" Bloom asked with her hands behind her head and leaned back in her chair. "Yeah I do. It should be ready to hatch by now" Tommy said and rubbed her legs. "You still sore?" he asked. "I haven't fought like that in ages" Bloom said and Tommy laughed. "Don't laugh at me Tommy. You would feel the same way if you were in my position" Bloom said lightly kicking his chest. "Alright, I'm sorry." Tommy said and Bloom giggled. "How come you never wear short sleeved shirts anymore? I like your muscles" Bloom said leaning forward and Tommy sighed. "Because it would give away the fact that I'm a ranger because of my muscles." Tommy said and Bloom put her legs on the floor and went to sit on his lap. "For me?" she asked. "Alright, just because you asked" Tommy said and took off his khaki shirt to reveal his arms. "Wow. You've really been working out" Bloom said and Tommy started tickling her.
Dino Mountain
The doors to the dino throne room opened and big bad Dino man himself walked in. "Zeltrax, report" he said. Zeltrax turned around and bowed. "My lord, we have just finished a new genetic creation called ligalador. We have combined the cunning elements of a shark with the toxicity of the oleander flower." Zeltrax said. "Then we threw in some extra car parts for fun" Elsa said. "Well, let's see it." Mesagog said. Elsa typed some buttons and said;
"Genome randomizer engaged" Elsa said. Cylinders rose from the shelf and everyone looked at the chamber on the wall. "It worked." Zeltrax said. "Are you sure about that? It looks pretty disfigured to me" a voice said and Icy floated into the room blowing on her nails. "Where have you three been?" Elsa asked. "Getting our nails done" Stormy said crossing her legs in midair while blowing on her dark purple nails. "You fool. What we need is better raw materials. We need to find the perfect specimen" Mesagog said while typing on the computer. He saw Nikki drag a man out of the water, and on the sand. "Strong, brave, she's the one. Zeltrax" "Yes master?" he asked, "Send your creature to fetch that woman" Mesagog said. "And what if the power rangers interfere master?" Zeltrax asked. "That's what Tyrannodrones are for." He said and walked away growling. The Trix just snickered at him and walked out of the room.
Beach
"Cut" the director said and "Nikki" turned around and turned out to be a guy. He took the wig off and Nikki shoved him out of the way. "Ok, I'll take it from here" she said posing.
Dino thunder headquarters/ Oliver residence
Tommy was at the computer again and Bloom was napping on the cot behind him. "Almost got it" He said until a "System override" appeared on the screen. Bloom was woken up by the alarms and looked around ready to fight. She saw the screen and stretched, "Who set the alarm?" she asked yawning. "Guys, we have some Tyrannodrones downtown. And they have a little problem at the beach." Tommy said and she walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "Go, I'll keep watch here." She said and he nodded after kissing her quickly.
Downtown
The rangers were lying on the grass under a tree when the call came in. Alex and Rose shot up from their position and got the coordinates from their phones.
"It's at the mall. Let's go" Kira said. "It's morphin time guys" Alex said and Rose rolled her eyes. "Seriously?" she asked and Alex smiled. They got up and the rangers ran to the mall where people were freaking out.
Mall
"Whoa, this is just like some bad low budget movie" Ethan said and Rose nodded. "Only this is for real Ethan" Kira said. "Oh yea, right" he said and they all got down to business. Kira kicked while Ethan tackled and Conner did some spin kicks. Rose and Alex flipped around and kicked as they went. They locked arms at the elbows while facing away from each other and Rose lifted Alex while spinning in a circle. Alex lay on her sister's back and kicked the drones out of the way. "I think it's time to morph" Alex said while beating back drones.
Kira finally blasted them back with her ptera scream and they kept fighting.
Beach
The director called lunch break and the cast walked away for a break. Nikki was up on a balcony tanning and relaxing. "Finally, it's just me and my tan." She said. Suddenly the shark/car parts monster appeared and Nikki jumped. "Time for your close up Ms. Valentina" he said and she screamed. The monster made a grab for her and she whined, as usual. "My nails! I just got French tips!" and she kept struggling. "You're about to get a makeover you'll never forget" the shark monster said and suddenly Tommy appeared and kicked the monster away.
"Awe man, I hate shark monsters" Tommy said. "You alright" Tommy asked. "Great, where am I going to find someone who will fix my nails without an appointment?" Nikki asked and walked off. "No wonder Alex and Rose hate that girl" Tommy said and the monster got back up. "Huah!" he yelled and got into position.
Mall
"They released the hounds" Ethan said after they got pushed back. "I know, it's time to put them back where they belong" Conner said. "Ready?" he asked, "Ready!" the others responded and the morphers appeared on their wrists. "DINO THUNDER POWER UP HA!" and they all went through the morphing sequence. "Tricera" "Tyranno" "Ptera" "Raptor" they all said and charged into battle. "Tricera Shield!" Ethan yelled while hitting the tyrranadrones with his Tricera shield. Kira swung her leg under some drones and knocked some over. "Ptera grips" she said and blocked on coming assaults. As they fought, the twins were slicing and dicing their own drones with their raptor blades. All of a sudden they vanished through an invisi-portal and the others celebrated. "Alright, that got them!" Kira said. "Dr. O, were headed to the beach" she said and they rushed to the raptor cycles.
Beach
Dr. Oliver was handling his own monster before it shot him off the roof. "Dino thunder power up!" he shouted mid fall and landed on his feet. He looked to his right to see the rangers appearing on the scene. "Dr. O, are you alright?" Rose asked. "I'm fine." He said brushing himself off. Then all of a sudden Nikki walked up examining her nails. "Hey it's Nikki! Check it out babe, it's all about the red" Conner said. "Unless you prefer a kinder, gentler power ranger" Ethan said and the girls stood behind them shaking their heads. "I'm so glad we don't have a brother" Alex said. "I'm not finished with you yet" a voice said and they all looked up and saw a shark crossed with a car. "That is one of the weirdest ones yet" Rose said. "Watch out!" Tommy yelled and the monster blasted the rangers while they all fell back. Alex and Rose stood up and saw Nikki being taken by the shark monster. "Come with me human" he said and disappeared. "You guys okay?" Tommy asked his twins
"Yeah, were fine." Alex said and the others were just getting up. "From now on, check your hormones at the door before you morph" Kira said with her hands on her hips. "Let's get back to the lab" Tommy said and they ran off.
Dino Mountain/Mesagog's lair
The minion Zeltrax had Nikki strapped to a chair and spun her around. "Let me go! Do you know who I am! Let me go!" she whined and Icy rubbed her forehead. "I swear she's just like Stella sometimes" she murmured and the others snickered behind their books as they sat on the stairs next to Mesagog's throne. Elsa walked up and smiled at the torture she was going through while the shark/car parts monster was beside her. "Well, well. She doesn't look so perfect to me" She said leaning against the counter. "You're in big trouble," "Ooh, I'm not the one strapped to a chair, now am i?" Elsa asked and Darcy snickered while snorting. "I'm a famous celebrity, you can't treat me like this, and there are union rules" Nikki said proudly and the three women stood up while fixing their capes. "Honey that means nothing here" Icy said floating to her line of sight.
Oliver residence
The twins stalked in the entrance of the lair while their hair fell out of the helmets. "I can't believe you two were thinking about how hot Nikki was instead of focusing on your mission. What is wrong with you two?" Alex asked standing next to the chair her mom was in while holding her helmet on her hip. "We messed up, we said we were sorry Alex" Conner said and she shook her head. "Whatever." She said and went to the chair in front of the computer. "You guys might wanna look in a mirror" Bloom said and the boys raced to the mirror that she was holding after removing their helmets. "This is not good" Ethan said as they tried to pop them. "You guys were lucky you were morphed. It could have been a lot worse" Tommy said walking by. "I can't believe this, how am I supposed to save Nikki now? Look at my face" Conner asked after they de-morphed. "Mine looks like it should be delivered in 30 minutes or less" Ethan said and the three girls cracked up. They looked at the three girls and Rose smiled. "Don't worry Conner, we still love you, even if you should come with a side of breadsticks" she said and they laughed even harder. The elder Oliver's tried to hide their laughter while Hailey was laughing up a storm. "How did we get out numbered?" Ethan asked. After they calmed down, Kira had this to say, "Ya know most people look past the rash and see the person within" Kira said but the boys didn't care, "Yeah well Nikki Valentina is not like most of us." Conner said and Alex snorted. "Two arms, two legs….seems the same to me" Kira said.
"Don't forget, she doesn't have a brain, or a heart." Alex said and walked to the other side of the room where her collection of Katanas rested on the wall. "What did she do to you that was so horrible Alex?" Ethan asked and rose was telling him to stop with hand gestures. She smiled and pulled a sword down that was broken in half. "See this, she was challenging people to sword fighting matches when she was an upcoming actress and when I went against her, she cheated and used a sword that was sharper than my katana. She sliced it in half but the judge never disqualified her. I tried to tell them she cheated, but they wouldn't listen to a 6 year old girl with an orange belt. I will never forgive her for breaking my grandfather's sword" she said and put the sword back in its velvet wrapping.
"Besides the arms and legs, what about the rest of her" Ethan asked and the computer beeped. "Seems like Mesagog shares your infatuation." Tommy said while Rose, Bloom and Alex stood around Hailey as she sat at the computer. "He's thrown up a firewall around the invisi-portals. Not even the raptor cycles could get in" Hailey said and Rose groaned. "Is there anything that dinosaur can't do!" she yelled and Bloom chuckled at her daughter.
Dino Island
Nikki was alone in the computer room still strapped in the chair and yelled "HELP! HELP! HELP!" she stopped when Zeltrax and Lord Mesagog walked in. "Here she is my lord" Zeltrax said. "Ah…I like your energy. Your DNA is pure evil." Mesagog said. "Well, I have been looking for some darker roles, but I don't know if I'm right for pure evil." She said as Mesagog let the restraints off. "Trust me, you're ready. Zeltrax, take her to the energy transfer chamber, ready her for the purge" Mesagog said as he walked out.
"Resistance is futile (Star Trek reference in power rangers, mind blown)" "Hey, I was up for that part. I still remember the audition. It went something like this…." She said and stomped on his foot. She ran off while he was busy hopping around and she disappeared into an Invisi-portal.
Oliver residence
Hailey turned from the computer and looked confused. "I don't know how, but she made it out. She's back at the beach" she said and Alex smiled. "She must have been so annoying, that they threw her back" she said and Rose laughed. "Yeah, go Nikki, I told you she was smart" Ethan said. "Yeah, like a box of rocks" Alex said and started filing her nails. As soon as Nikki walked away off camera the shark monster appeared. "Should have seen that one coming, Bloom, Hailey, keep tracking that egg" Tommy said as they lined up to morph. "We will honey, good luck" she said and saw her daughter sulking. "Come on Alex. I don't care how much you hate her, you are going to morph and save her. It's your job" Bloom said and Alex looked at her pathetically. "Fine" she said and stood up next to her sister.
"Ready?" "Ready!" (You all know the drill but I'm gonna do it anyways.) "Dino thunder, power up, hah!" they yelled and their morphing sequences went through.
Beach
The power rangers ran up and Nikki was standing there with the car shark monster. "Let her go you freak!" Rose yelled and Nikki looked disgusted. "So not in my contract" she said and walked off. Conner, Ethan, Kira and the twins faced off against the car shark while Tommy took on Zeltrax. The car shark fired off a laser or ignited an explosion of some kind and blew them back. The monster brought out his flower stick and pointed it at the rangers. "Let's see how you look after a little flower power" he said and he fired it off and almost hit Nikki if it wasn't for Devin getting her out of the way. "Are you okay?" he asked. "You're even braver than a power ranger. Have you ever thought about a career as an action hero?" Nikki asked and Devin smiled.
Meanwhile the rangers were getting beat up, as usual. Tommy was doing his thing and fighting Zeltrax as he was dodging and fighting for his life, Devin was still flirting with Nikki. "An action hero huh" "Yeah, but it's not easy though. Everyone wants a piece of me, "Can I have an autograph?" "Can I have your DNA" it never stops." "Yeah, I mean, it must be so hard knowing that millions love you. Isn't that why you became a TV star?" Devin asked. "No, I just wanna be rich and have lots of stuff, then marry a rock-star, and have more houses than J. Lo." She said and walked off. The car-shark ran off while leading the rangers away from Tommy.
They stopped chasing him when they reached a dead end. "Uh-oh" the monster said turning around. "It's time you learned a lesson!" Conner said, "Yeah like don't blast people with a ray that turns their face into pepperoni pizza." Ethan said and the twins snickered. "Good one Ethan" Kira said. "Really" "No" she said and he sighed.
The monster fired a laser at them, and they all cartwheeled away in time.
With Tommy, he was still duking it out with Zeltrax and fighting for his life, again.
Zeltrax fired off some kind of blue lightning as Tommy jumped back a few feet to evade it. Once his feet were on the ground, he jumped back towards Zeltrax and created a shockwave when they clashed swords.
Oliver residence
Hailey and Bloom were getting closer to finding that egg when Hailey spotted it under some rocks. "Hey! I found it!" she said and Bloom smiled. "Finally, let's tell Tommy" Bloom said and they walked off screen.
Beach (Zeltrax and Tommy)
Tommy and Zeltrax fought and Tommy got the upper hand when he trapped Zeltrax's hand behind his back. "Ya know, I'm having some serious Déjà vu Zeltrax." He said and Zeltrax reversed the position. "This is far from over, I will return and then you will all pay." He said and Tommy watched him disappear in an invisiportal.
With the rangers
The rangers kicked the monster until Conner was kicked away. He rolled as he hit the ground but got back up to deliver a super kick to his stomach. That move pushed him back enough for everyone to take out their "phasers." "Okay guys, let's give this freak a blast" Conner said and the twins just shook their heads at him. They fired and the shark monster fell back after being hit by 5 separate phaser blasts.
With the Egg
Bloom and Hailey walked around the beach looking for it when Hailey spotted it under the rock from the computer. "Found it!" she said and dug it out. "Hey little guy, what are you doing all the way out here?" Hailey asked and handed it to Bloom. Bloom brushed it off and tucked it in her messenger bag.
Back with the rangers
The rangers were getting tired of kicking him so they decided to put their weapons together to make the Z-rex blaster.
"Z-Rex blaster! Ready?" "Fire!" and bright yellow light in the shape of a T-rex mouth came out of the blaster and hit the car-shark. He blew up from the impact of the blaster and Rose cheered with the others. "Awesome!"
Dino Mountain
Elsa, the other minion, got very frustrated and Mesagog walked up. "Well, don't just stand there, activate the Hydro-regenerator!" he said. "Yes my lord" she said and pulled the lever up.
Beach
A dark cloud appeared over the battle site and magical rain poured down. "I knew it wasn't over" Alex said and everyone stopped celebrating. The charred bits of car parts and fish regenerated and turned into a 30 story version of its original form. "Now I'm the big fish!" he said while laughing. Tommy appeared on the scene and called his Zord. "Brachio, Zord time!" and the Brachiozord unfolded to reveal the Dino Zords.
Everyone jumped into their Zords and they joined together to make the Dino thunder Megazord. After forming the Zord, the monster advanced on the rangers. They sparred for a little bit before the car-shark shot water at them. "Eww, it's spitting on us" Alex groaned and the Zord blew up. They all landed on the spot that they formed to Zord at and Rose sat up slowly while rubbing her back. "Ouch, that hurt" she said and Alex helped her purple sister up. "You'll get used to it sis" she said and they brushed themselves off. At the perfect moment, Tommy or the black ranger, came over and looked at his rangers. "Guys! Are you alright?" he asked and rushed to his twins. "Were fine dad." "Yeah, something is fishy here" Rose said and Alex groaned. "Look at that swell, Surf's up!" the monster said and he disappeared. "Where did he go?" Alex asked. "I don't know, but there's a huge wave coming our way" Rose said looking at her wrist with a hologram above it. "It's a tidal wave!" Kira yelled and Hayley drove up to them with Bloom in the passenger seat. "We found the egg, here" Bloom said and tossed it to Ethan. He was about to hand it to Tommy when his morpher glowed, the head changed and growled. The egg in his hand started glowing and shaking. "It's hatching!" Ethan said and the egg shattered to form a small stegosaurus.
"Awesome" the group said and it jumped off of his hand to grow into a stegazord. "Wow, it's a stegazord!" Alex said and Ethan gave the egg to Tommy. He admired the shell and the others noticed the huge wave getting closer.
"Okay guys, we've got a new friend. Use your telepathy to tame the stegazord and combine with you" Tommy said and they jumped back into their Megazord.
"Online" they said in the Megazord control room. They waited for the new Zord and joined with the stegazord as the top split open to reveal a platform. They stood on top and posed. "Now it's our turn!" Kira said. "Let's turn this fool into a plate of sushi" Conner added "Talk about a fish out of water" Ethan added after that and they groaned. "You guys are so corny" Alex said and the Zord moved forward to float on the water. They surfed around and shouted "Hanging 10!" while the twins joined in with gusto. The combined Zords spun on the water and slashed at the car-shark in circles. Then they surfed up on the wave, held the board for 2 seconds, and activated the drill.
"DINO DRILL" and the team hit the guy once before he exploded. They all celebrated once the wave was gone and Tommy stood on the shore with his wife looking at the amazing sunset that had appeared once the wave went away. "I'm so proud of our kids. Tommy is this what their lives have resorted to?" Bloom asked and Tommy looked at her funny. "What do you mean?" he asked facing his red headed wife. "I mean, I faced monsters and powerful villains in my day, and I was hoping that it wouldn't be the same for our girls and your students." Bloom said and he hugged her. "Don't worry honey, everything will be just fine. Their strong enough to handle it, the girls get that from you" he said and she giggled. They kissed until the kids walked up and the twins fake gagged. "Okay, how about you guys go back to the cave. We'll join you shortly." Tommy said and they all rode off on their raptor cycles.
The next day
The twins, Conner, Ethan and Kira were hanging out on the beach when Conner and Ethan spotted Nikki getting ready for a scene. They got up from the sand and went over to talk to her but Nikki rolled her eyes. "If I have to talk to anymore love sick fans today, I'm gonna barf in my coffee cup." She said and walked off. Kira walked up to the boys and smiled. "So, have you guys put the moves on Nikki yet?" she asked and they scoffed while crossing their arms.
"No, it turns out, she is wack." Conner said. "Well guys, I'd say you guys learned a valuable lesson" she said as they were walking backwards away from her. "What? Stick to cheerleaders?" Conner asked and Ethan covered. "He's kidding Kira" and Conner smiled. "We know, you can't judge a book by its cover, even a prime one like Nikki's." Ethan said and they both sat down in beach chairs near the twins as they were tanning in purple and pink bikinis.
They got up because Conner and Ethan sprayed sand on them when they sat down and covered themselves with their beach dresses. They walked down the beach as Cassidy was being hauled off the set and the boys laughed at her. "You guys, that wasn't nice" Alex said and they laughed harder.
