I have some ideas for this story. And well, a lot of things will be going on. I hope it won't be too much.
"Watch out!"
Not even twenty-four hours had passed since Trenton had left when I found out exactly how much he had been protecting me while he was still here. He had always been here to get back at anyone here who made their rude comments or tried to hurt me in any other way. And he knew me well enough to know when I needed him.
Nowadays I didn't him. And therefore it felt worse than ever when I and Yazzy barely walked into each other and she made that innocent, but kind of rude-sounding comment.
I didn't answer her, there was no point with doing that. Or saying that she did have more of a chance moving out of the way since she had only herself to worry about and move with. With the difference from me and my big belly.
Yazzy just rolled her eyes and made some rude comments about sl*t. Just at that moment Kim walked by, as usual with a notebook in one hand and a pencil in the other and she looked towards Yazzy as she went up into the room that had been made for her in the attic, then towards me and well… Kim and Yazzy were two very split personalities.
But they were very much the same and I couldn't wait to get out of Kim's vision.
"She always carries that notebook with her." Suddenly Floss was standing right behind me. "I wish I knew what it said."
"Floss. You know you can't read it. I don't know what she's writing in it. But how would you feel if you'd be writing in a diary day in and day out and then someone just read it without even asking."
"How am I supposed to ask? She'd only say no."
I gave her a meaning look. It wasn't that I'd never been wondering what Kim wrote in that notebook. But it wasn't on my business.
I still couldn't help but to feel sneaky though…
Right now it was just more important that Yazzy kept calling me… what she was calling me. Mike had asked her to stop, May- Li had asked her to stop, Duke had asked her to stop and Trenton. I had even asked her to stop her myself but it was like she couldn't hear any of us.
But it was Sunday night, and while I wasn't going back to school until in the start of next year all the others were at this point and I went to help Minnie putting up her school uniform for the week. Well, I didn't actually get so far.
"Damn." I mumbled to myself. "Orange marmalade."
Now that was something I had constantly been craving since the beginning of this pregnancy. And if there was something other I was missing to where little Boo being born it was the end of having to rush to the kitchen.
"GET LOST."
Already before I had reached the kitchen I could hear Kim's voice from inside and I could sense trouble before I saw Xavier too around the corner.
Now, if Kim hated me. There was nothing she hated more than that young boy and it had annoyed me several times before that night. When Kim stood by the kitchen counter and just as I came around the corner she shouted at my friend.
"Get away from me."
I watched and had no chance to get in between then when Kim pushed the younger boy- hard. So hard he stumbled backwards and fell right into the table.
"OW."
"HEY." I shouted angrily and glared at Kim while I went over to the table and helped Xavier up. "Are you okay?" He nodded but it seemed he had lost his breath from the blow of hitting his back into the table. "Do you know what Kim?" Kim had gone to making a sandwich as if nothing had just happened. "Kim! I laid a hand on Xavier's shoulder while I just kept talking and not thinking about what I was saying. "Why do you keep doing stuff like these? Everyone had tried to be your friend at some point but the nicer they are to you the meaner you are to them. And you've certainly got a problem with me and I can see why. But you've got a problem with Xavier and that's not fair. Whatever did he do to you that annoys you so to the point you act so meanly whenever he's around?"
Kim glared back at me for a second, then she looked away. And when she made her sandwich she was trembling of anger.
"Are you okay?" Xavier looked up at me and nodded but his bottom lip was trembling. "Don't let her get to you. Come on. Dance like you always do- it always makes you happy." A smile grew onto his lip and he wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his hands before he danced out of the room with pirouettes and jumps. "What's wrong with you?"
Kim only glared back at me, my cravings for marmalade was since long forgotten. But what was not forgotten was the help of putting Minnie's school uniform up so she could just take it on in the morning.
Or at least I would have thought so, when I came up the stairs I found Minnie sitting on the bed and wiping her clammy forehead.
"Oh Minnie, are you okay?" I really knew the answer already before I walked over to her.
"MIKE" I shouted for the care worker while I felt Minnie's forehead again- feeling one unusual heat radiating from it into my hand a second before Mike appeared in the doorway. "I think Minnie's ill. She's got a temperature for sure."
"I'm not ill." Minnie got up from the bed before Mike had come over but I gently pushed her down again and watched as Mike felt with first his hand and then the back of it with a frown. "I feel fine."
She made it quite obvious to us when she broke down in a coughing fit that looked quite painful with the grimaces she made but tried to hide.
"No my young lady." I sat down next to her and laid my arm around her shoulders. "No school for you today… I'll just go get the thermometer. Don't move."
Minnie started coughing again at the moment Mike left and I quickly reached for the trash can when the phlegm coming up her throat made her gag.
"Don't swallow it." I said and rubbed her arm. "Spit, and then you're going to stay home for today and a couple of days. And then you'll be as good as new and go back to school…" Minnie looked with a devastated look in her eyes at me. "What is it Minnie? If it's just this scaring you then it doesn't matter. You're going to be like brand new in no time!"
"But what if I have a pneumonia and die instead?"
Random fact
I had meant to put the storyline with Kim and Xavier in much sooner as it was in her form. But I didn't and here we are. I hope you'll like it
