Thanks Justice237 and CharlieSmarts12 for reviewing.
The eleventh of January I updated all of my stories and then I didn't update this again until now. I have been updating the others meanwhile of course but… well, as you can see. I'm here. Even though I don't really have any idea about what the chapter will be about…
Anyway, I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. But I have noticed there are several of my stories that are close to their endings and therefore, after finishing them I'll have more time to write and update the stories that are left, then this will be going on and some others. Those who are ending are…
-Shake it out
-What goes around comes around
-You are the best thing (that's ever been mine)
-When I returned
-The search for a family
I don't really want to finish that last, I've really enjoyed writing it.
Since I wrote that AN I have finished one story in "you are the best thing (that's ever been mine)" So that makes nine stories that I'm working on right now.
Moving on to a story I've started since the last time we saw each other. It's a dumping ground story, it's called "Game on!" And it's written for Epilepsy awareness. Writing for awareness is very important to me so it makes me very happy if people read and review it.
Is that everything I have to say for right now… I think so. On with the chapter.
Half of March and a bit had passed us by…
I'd like to have walked the way home. But Johnny and Mike would never had let me. And the road in between the hospital and Ashdene Ridge was most likely too long. Even though the spring sun felt warm on my face turning towards it where I sat in the car while Mike drove us home.
It was so strange to think that the winter had passed us by…
I couldn't help but remember the long autumn days, my slow walks where I had sighed deeper than ever before and kicked orange and yellow leaves as if they could give me an answer if I kicked them hard enough.
"Are you okay Ken?" Johnny suddenly called me back to reality in here and now. "You looked so thoughtful…"
"I'm fine… I was just thinking about how… well how time goes by so quickly… And what has happened for the past seven months and how they've affected the rest of my life… You know…"
I silent when Mike pulled over in front of the dumping ground, unbuckled my belt and got out. While I was all fine now I still felt a bit weak and shaky and I was happy when I felt Johnny's arm around my shoulders before I walked up towards Ashdene Ridge.
"Maybe you should just go back to bed."
"I'm fine Mike. Stop that fussing, please."
"I'm not just fussing over you, you know." Mike nodded towards my belly. "And that is why it's more important for you to rest until you're well again. Those attacks aren't to play with…"
"No?" I couldn't help but let hear the ironic tone in my own voice. "It isn't? I had missed that… I'm hungry and I'm getting something to eat."
I finished with that last before I let go of the others and without saying anything to anyone I went into the kitchen and walked almost straight into Duke. The large, kind man hugged me as good as he could with both of ours' big stomachs.
"I was just going to take something to eat." I told him. "Is that okay?"
I couldn't understand why I had even asked. It wasn't like Duke, May- Li or Mike had ever stopped anyone of us from taking a sandwich or a fruit or a bowl of cereal whenever someone got hungry.
"I'm just making lunch, if you can wait for that. Or would you rather eat something now?"
"Oh." I looked over to the soup that stood on the stove. "Tomato soup, I love tomato soup." Duke gave a big smile. "I can just wait and eat and then I'll eat as I possibly can- and you can just imagine how much that is after… well, you know…" I thought for a second. "I have a feeling I have to go do something… Of course. I'll go and check if Minnie's okay." I pointed with my thumb backwards the door. "If she knows what happened…" Duke just nodded meaning. "Well, with her story she must be quite shaken and worried so I'll just go and talk to her."
"I think that's a good idea."
If I then managed to get to my room without anyone stopping me.
Yazzy came from the other direction, she didn't say anything about slut that she usually did. But as always she had a look on her face.
"Hello Michael." I said when he came out from his room. "Did you have a good time at the Campbell's?"
"It was awesome. It would be like having two parents and they're all really nice. And Rob says I can come with him to work at the airport someday. And Margo makes food that is delicious and Harry and I have a room together and everyone are really nice. And there are dogs and a cat and fishies and two guinea pigs. And they say they might get another dog and then they would let me name it Freckles. I always wanted a dog named Freckles. And tomorrow there's a meeting with Rob and Margo and me and Harry and Mike and then we can go live with them forever and ever."
Michael's smile was so big it could have lit up the whole hallway….
"…But I'm gonna miss the people here." His smile died down slightly. "But I know I'm going to make new friends. I'm going to miss you and little Boo."
Just like he had the day before he bent down and kissed my belly, I was on my way to tell him I didn't like it… But I didn't dislike either. And knowing Michael was about to leave anyway I smiled at him and watched him skip down the hallway from me before I could go into my and Minnie's room.
"Hello Minnie," I sat down on her bed next to her. "Are you okay?"
She just looked so sad…
"Yeah…" She answered with that tiny little kind of voice that broke my heart. "…Kenny?"
"Yeah?"
"Were you afraid yesterday?"
I had to think for a minute until the one second I had realized there had been shrimp in the food they gave me and I started feeling my throat closing up realizing what would happen.
"Yeah. I was." I laid my arm around her shoulders. "But there's nothing for you to worry about. I haven't had an allergic reaction like that for years. Hopefully it will be just as long before I have one again. Maybe I'll never have one again."
"But…" Minnie sniveled. "…Johnny told us that you had told them not to give you any seafood. So why did they do it anyway?"
"I don't know. But when I told them not to they shouldn't have. I think I'll have to go back to that restaurant and talk to the waiter and maybe I'll find out why he gave it to me anyway."
"He shouldn't have from the start."
"No. I know. But he did and it can't be undone now… Other than that I think this new restaurant had food that was good and tasty. So I think I'll have to return and actually order something. So they won't feel the need to give me something I can't eat… maybe you would like to come with me then."
Minnie shrugged and didn't seem sure, a long while followed and none of us said anything.
"Duke is making tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. You like that don't you? It's one of your favorites."
"But how would I know if I was allergic to anything? May- Li said you don't have to be born allergic to something but you can become allergic. So what if someone became allergic… to tomatoes… or cheese… and then got sit. I know that you are allergic to seafood, and Jody to certain candies, and Kim to strawberries and walnuts. But I don't know if I'm allergic to anything so how am I supposed to eat anything at all when I don't know if I'm allergic to it and Johnny and Mike sat yesterday that you could have died and you got really sick."
"If someone gets allergic then it won't go from not being allergic at all until being as allergic as I am to seafood… And none of us have been allergic to tomatoes or cheese before so I don't think anyone will be today."
"LUNCH."
"Come on then." I stood up when Duke's voice sounded loud through the house. "I know I'm very hungry, aren't you?"
"She haven't eaten since yesterday." Mike mumbled into my ear when we crossed our ways in the hallway. "She kept fearing she'd be allergic to something and nothing we said would help… nice job! Now, please will you eat something… and take care of yourself."
the hallway, she didn't say anything to me but she wasn't glaring just as much as she normally would…
"Kenny." Xavier came up and hugged me before I'd have the chance to say anything about it. "I'm so happy you're okay." He stroke my belly slightly and then kept dancing through the hallway as he usually did.
"I want to just put a big sign on my stomach." I showed Mike. "Do not touch- ugh!"
"You've not only got yourself to worry about. So please…" Mike held his hand together for me. "Can you try and keep out of trouble?"
I just sighed at him and raised an eyebrow.
"Will there ever be a day on the dumping ground when there's no trouble."
"No." Mike answered but looked sternly at me. "But you don't have to get in the mid…"
"MIIIIIIIIIKE." Belle suddenly came running through the hallway, with her voice shouting as in panic. "I-I can't fi- ind Rosa."
Belle carried her stuffed leopard with her everywhere. She must be somewhere around here.
"It's okay Belle. I'll help you find her."
Random fact
Always when I imagined Kenny walking outside during the fall and kicking the leaves was what I had in my mind when I shot the cover picture. But I still don't know whether it works or whether I should just delete the picture. What do you think guys? I had the idea in my mind from the start but I just never brought it in until now.
Well, that's it for this chapter people. Go and read my new story. And I'll see you next time.
